Was there last thursday with family. i had the salmon special, it was excellent. We also order a chard for $ 35. Which was a great deal plus I used my groupon coupon and saved $. Very good service too. Make reservations, it is a small restaurant.

Had a living social coupon. First, great service and very friendly. The Calamari was very good. Had the Cowboy Ribeye. One word– YUMMY. Worth every penny. The Bananna Cream Pie was very delicious. Will be returning.

3.5 stars. Their menu is much too small for my liking. You are basically stuck with whatever side they choose to cook that day and not everyone is going to like what they make. Their cowboy rib eye is possibly one of the best cuts of beef I’ve ever had. It was cooked perfectly and was so tasty. Their coque au vin however was horrible tasting. The meat had shrunken up and was an unnatural color. I also ordered the brie with honey and nuts alongside some crostinis. I can’t say I enjoyed this. The taste of honey was too overpowering although the candied nuts were delicious.

Came here with my sister for dinner. Only one server running the show, which effects the dining experience. She was very short and ignored us. We had the clams and prime rib. The food was average, I thought at the time. Until later, I got food poisoning. It was my only meal that day and I was flying out soon after. I will never come back and would suggest the same.

I bought the Living Social deal for this place a few months ago and we decided to use it for date night a week ago. We sat at the bar for drinks and happy hour appetizers at first because we arrived before 5 and were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. We had grilled shrimp skewers and fried calamari. The shrimp were nicely cooked with a delicate garlic and lemon flavor. The calamari had a crisp, non-greasy, cornmeal crust and were served with a variety of other fried veggies. LOVE the train shots, btw. Every time a train passes, they offer $ 2 shots(bartender’s choice). We sat at a table for dinner. We shared clam chowder to start, so buttery and creamy and rich — it was delicious. I ordered the prime rib, au gratin potatoes, and Brussel sprouts with pancetta. The prime rib portion was HUGE! Sadly however, I asked for medium rare and the cut was rare, then lightly broiled on the outside to mask the rareness. Additionally, it had ZERO flavor. A nice spicy crust would have been great. I took the leftovers home and seasoned and cooked it a little more and it was great. The potatoes and sprouts, however, we’re AWESOME! My date had the cowboy ribeye with the same sides and loved it. I had to agree… For dessert we had banana cream pie. Wow, loved it! In my top 2 for banana cream pies in Sac(Bandera I my #1). All in all it was pretty good. Prime rib needs some work though. I’d go back.

My husband and I wanted to try something new for dinner this past weekend and decided that we should give Hads Steak and Seafood a try. We have always walked or biked by this place(even back when it was a sushi restaurant). We had no problem finding parking that night(maybe we were lucky because downtown parking can be a bit tricky). We had reservations made a few days before and we were seated promptly. Our waitress was Jenna and she was very friendly and knowledgable about the food being served. If you’re interested in red meat, they have plenty of selection to choose from and if you’re more of a seafood kind of gal(like myself) they have that as well. Lots of yummy selections and I could have easily seen myself ordered the gamant of dishes on their menu. For appetizers, we started with the calamari. Delicious choice and we loved the tartar and aioli sauce that we dipped our calamari in. The plate size was just perfect to share! For dinner I ordered the seared Ahi special for the night. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi(and I honestly was jealous that I couldn’t have both plates but he did a great job of sharing). The wine list was diverse but my husband ordered a beer instead. Good stuff! Jenna did a wonderful job checking in on us, refilling our waters, allowing us to take our time despite the busy crowd. We loved the ambiance of the place, great bar area if you just want a drink and a few TVs for sports(but the TVs were not too distracting). Lovely place!

Cute little restaurant with comfy seats(I sat on the futon side), a nice bar, and interesting wall lamps. Plenty of parking within a 2-block radius of the restaurant so it wasn’t that difficult even on a Saturday night. Amazing waitress, not so amazing owner. We skipped appetizers and went straight for the entrees. I ordered their prime rib medium rare and boyfriend ordered ribeye, also medium rare. We waited, but no bread was given or even offered to us, only two glasses of water. When the steaks came, mine was medium well while boyfriend’s was almost bloody rare. We wanted to flag down our waitress but she was nowhere in sight. This is where it gets interesting. While we were visually searching for her, a woman whom I assumed to be the owner(casually dressed and drinking wine at the bar) was totally oblivious that we weren’t touching our food and obviously looking for our waitress. Even though she was servicing the table right next to us. Yeah, I know their bill is going to be bigger than ours, but we are customers too. So when the waitress finally came around to check on us, we asked if they can remake the steaks. She was totally professional about it, even offered a soup or salad while we were waiting. I declined while boyfriend ordered a bowl of clam chowder(thicker consistency but not bad). Oh, and she finally brought us bread. The remade steaks came back. Boyfriend’s ribeye was perfect, but my prime rib was bloody rare this time. I felt so bad that I had to send it back again, but the waitress was amazingly professional about it. So, I guess third time’s the charm, my prime rib was finally medium rare. It was juicy and tender, but it didn’t blow me away. The flavor was lacking. On the other hand though, I loved my boyfriend’s ribeye. It was more flavorful and has a very nice charred taste/seal. As for the sides, the scalloped potatoes was just okay, but the brussel sprouts were tasty. For a restaurant with«steak» in its name, it is unacceptable that I have to send a steak back TWICE, no matter how good they claim it to be. Even though their ribeye was tasty and I really wanted to try their banana cream pie, I’m not sure I’ll go back. In the case that I do, I won’t order their prime rib again.

I was a little nervous trying this restaurant based off of previous reviews. My boyfriend and I had dinner here this past weekend, and had a good experience. We were seated near the window so it was nice to people watch and enjoy our dinner. The waitress was also very nice and attentive. For drinks I ordered the Moscow Mule and my boyfriend ordered the house red wine. I was a little hesitant to order the drink, because the ginger beer came from a bottle and was not made fresh. The waitress assured me it was a «higher end» ginger beer so I decided to go for it. I am so glad I tried it. The drink was very good! The ginger tasted fresh even though it came from a bottle. My boyfriend’s wine was nothing special, but it was a suitable house wine. I ordered the clam chowder based on previous reviews. It was decent. Plenty of chunks of clam. Seasoning was good too. My boyfriend ordered the Caesar salad. He liked it as well. Nothing special about it though. For the main course my boyfriend ordered the cowboy ribeye and I ordered the cioppino. He ordered the steak medium and it was VERY good. The meat melted in my mouth when I tried a sample. He liked it as well. I really liked the cioppino. Plenty of shrimp, clams, and scallops. It was seasoned well. We would definitely come back to this restaurant.

Three stars but only because I hate to slam local mom and pop restaurants. No one in our group of six would go back. No filet on the menu. Very average steaks. One steak in our party of 6 was so salty it was not edible. When we walked in we were all overwhelmed by the smell of seafood(not in a god way) so no one opted for fish. The potatoes au gratin were mediocore. Just mediocore all around. Service was friendly and attentive. It would make a good alternative in the area if they can get the food right.

Dinner was quite disappointing. Now that I have your attention. Have you ever had a dinner where you wish you stayed home and made instant ramen rather than what you actually ate? Well we had that memorable experience tonight at Hads Steak and Seafood. Now I will walk you through a dinner I wish to drink until i forget. We decided to eat here because Kelly had a Living Social deal. If I knew the food was going to be like this, I would had been more than happy to eat the $ 20 loss on the coupon and save myself time, money, and space in my stomach. Before I go on, I would like to give credit to the waitress that helped us, she was very nice and always checked up on us. We ordered the clam chowder based on the various Unilocal reviews that spoke so highly of it. I honestly did not care for it. It had bacon, potato, and clams, all the needed ingredients for a great bowl of clam chowder, right? WRONG! The flavor was just lacking and I bit into what I thought was a potato, but to my surprise was a clump of flour… yum! Please whisk thoroughly for future customers. For our main entrée, we both ordered the cowboy boneless ribeye, mash potato/french fries, and string beans. Please keep in mind that I pride myself on my ability to cook a steak. I worked behind a meat counter for 2 years while in college and know my way around a butcher shop. I always prepare my steak medium rare(the only way to eat it). Prior to dinner, I lowered my standards because I felt that they are too high for any restaurant to meet. With that being said, there was nothing cowboy about that ribeye. In all honesty, if what I ate tonight was their ribeye, they could had gotten away with serving me a top sirloin steak. Also, I think the chef fell asleep while cooking my steak because I am sure what I ate was not medium rare. It was completely well done on the outside and was medium in the center. If Kelly said that her steak is tough, they messed up somewhere(she likes her steak well done). The steak did not come out with any type of red-wine reduction. That might had saved the dish, but they was no sauce in sight. If I have to use A1 to eat a steak, that tells me alot about the preparation and seasoning of the steak. I’ve had steak at Denny’s that I was more happy about. I did not care about the sides. Both the fries and green beans were bland. It needed more flavor, maybe some garlic or something. What was more disappointing than the meal was having to pay after the dinner was over. With the $ 40 Living Social discount, the bill came out to $ 25. $ 25 is not bad for a steak dinner for 2, but it was not worth it. I’m surprise they are able to charge $ 25 for that ribeye steak dinner, I am sorry, I would not pay more than $ 12 for that dish. Overall, I probably will not come back here again. I had high hopes for this place because I was told that it was locally owned. Maybe I came here on a bad night and the chef was preoccupied with the election, but that was enough for me. 1 star… only for the good service service. Sorry…

We found this place while trying to find a restaurant to hold 40 – 50 people for my birthday party. Several places turned us down, but Julia was more than willing to accomodate a large party. In fact, she closed down from 6:30 — 8:30 for us. She greeted all of us and made sure we had whatever we needed. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was amazing. Probably in the top 5 for clam chowder. Huge chunks of bacon and clams. My steak was a little tough but had good flavor. They use straight horseradish, not cut with sour cream(LOVE it like that). The fresh green beans were made with bacon and the mashed potatoes were excellent. I will definitely go there again.

I was excited that there was a Groupon as I’ve heard such great reviews about the place! Came here on a Saturday, we ordered the Had’s steak and prime rib dinner… the slice of prime rib was Gigantic!!! It was cooked perfect and so was my steak, I had asked to have the Chimichurri on the side… note to self, if you are going to be in any intimate contact with someone, don’t eat the Chimichurri(lots o garlic in that bad boy!) But, it’s oh, sooo good! I am giving them four stars because the Long Island tasted like a watered down Margarita, I don’t know how that could be, but that’s about as descriptive as I can be without being downright rude! The bartender was nice and personable though! Didn’t have enough courage to tell her the Long Island wasn’t right… Do give them a try, it’s worth it!

Hubby and I adore this restaurant! Here’s why: The ambiance and staff are great. Because the restaurant is small I think we have only seen maybe two waiters, one bartender and kitchen staff at once. Which works perfectly for the size. Everyone is very attentive, social and enjoyable to be served by. We have been twice over the last year and most recently last Friday. Hubby got the rib eye. He decided he was in the mood for fries(lol he is always in the mood for fries) and requested an order of fries instead of mash or veggies. He plate was full of fries lol and the cook even sneaked some green beans on his plate. But he greatly enjoyed his food. Cooked to perfection! I ordered the grilled red snapper special. I enjoyed it but felt the dish needed a bit of color, white fish on white rice didn’t make my eyes pop. Appetizers, Drinks and Entrees, we could have rolled outta of there! We will be back. Oh one tip: Make reservations!

YUMMY! Great food, and love the atmosphere. It was clean and very comfortable. Many of venues are so loud you cannot have a conversation. Hads had soft background music and was just that ‘background’. Great food, generous servings and good service. Had the clam chowder — which was creamy and full of clams. For entrée I had the hamburger — which was YUMMY! Cooked perfect and flavorful. The meals was so generous had to take it home to finish the next day. Will go back to Hads for another wonderful meal.

I’ve been meaning to try this place since it opened and I finally convinced a friend to go with me so I wouldn’t have to eat alone. It turned out, we were there on the one year anniversary of the opening, but luckily they were able to get us a table right away. I loved the ambiance of the place. It’s upscale and classy and while it’s not big, there is enough seating at the tables and bar to handle a medium size crowd. They had a guitarist/singer playing, but not so loud that we couldn’t have a nice conversation. The staff was very friendly, service was excellent and our waiter was very attentive to our needs. We both started with the clam chowder which was quite tasty. For our main course I went with the prime rib and my friend had crab cakes. The prime rib was done perfectly and the side of green beans and baked potato was delicious. I tasted the crab cakes as well and while they were good, they were a bit bland and could have used some additional seasoning. Despite that though, we had no complaints about the meal. I was also impressed by how reasonable the prices were on the menu. Of course, we didn’t have drinks, so that kept the cost of a meal down, but really the prices are not expensive for what you get. I’m glad that I got to visit Had’s on its one year anniversary and I hope there are many more to come. I can see this becoming one of my favorite restaurants in midtown and I definitely want to go back and try the scallops and the famous steak sandwich soon.

So my girlfriend and I decided to take out a friend for his B-Day dinner. He suggested we go to Taki, a good sushi place we’ve been to before… Little did we know Taki went out of business and now this new restaurant Hads Steakhouse is in it place. I decided to Unilocal the place to see if it was even worth gracing it with our presence. The reviews looked cool and we decided to give it a try… You can’t go all the way wrong when using Unilocal right… Man this place was on point. I ordered the Eggplant Parmagni and my girlfriend had the Scrimp Scampi. Both dishes were good and filling. By the way each dinner entrée came with Soup or Salad, Bacon Green Beans, and your choice of a side dish, I had a bake potatoe. We left this place with a full tummy and ready to get some drinks. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a good filling dinner with a nice ambience.

I love this place!!! I’ve only been here once but I know I’ll be back man times more for sure! My boyfriend found a voucher for this place on a cbs local deals site so we decided to stop in one Friday evening for a date night. The ambiance was nice. I really liked the seating areas with the long comfy, cushioned booths. Its like sitting on a couch but at a classy restaurant. While there are table cloths and wine glasses there are also two tvs behind the bar so you can still catch the Giants or Kings game. The staff was very helpful and professional. Everything was clean and well maintained. The prices were awesome! Why visit a popular steak house, wait 20 minutes to be seated and pay 3 times as much when you can visit Hads?!? Now on to the food. I ordered the sauteed prawns(served with cheesy garlic bread, a baked potato, and sauteed green beans bacon and onion) with salad and my boyfriend had the prime rib(only served on Friday-Sunday with the green beans and back potato) and clam chowder. The meal also comes with warm sour dough bread. Everything tasted fabulous! The shrimp where large and bursting with flavor. Can’t go wrong w/cheesy garlic bread. My boyfriend enjoyed his clam chowder but said he probably had better prime rib at other places. I thought the prime rib was cooked to medium rare perfection and it was tender and tasted great with the sauce. The green beans were great, especially with the bacon. I’d recommend this place for a a great first date /date night. It has great food and isn’t as expensive as some other steak/seafood restaurants. The next time we visit we’re going to try the steak sandwich and clams everyone here have been raving about. Honey when are we going back???

Wow, what a great first visit to Had’s! The staff was cordial and professional and knowledgeable. The variety of menu items was amazing. My sauteed prawns were delicious, the sauteed green beans with bacon and onions were phenomenal, hubby’s NY strip steak w/bleu cheese crumbles was cooked perfectly; the bread come out nice and warm, the cheesy garlic bread appetizer was fantastic… sooooo much food that we couldn’t finish it all. I highly recommend Had’s to everyone. It’s a new place worth a try, and I hope it stays a fixture for Sacramento dinner options. I will return, for sure!

Considering it’s location, prices and quality of food, I’m always surprised Hads isn’t busier. I’ve been assured by staff members that there are nights when they’re swamped, but we went on 2nd Saturday and there were two other couples. Works for me… I love having my pick of seats! Speaking of 2nd Saturdays, this is a terrific spot to stop for an early dinner. Just a few steps away from the heart of the action with the perfect ambiance for date night. They even have two bay window spots that make for some fantastic people watching. Both of our meals started with the clam chowder. Loaded with tender clams, it was rich and delicious. Couldn’t believe the amount of clams versus potatoes, made for some of the best chowder I’ve had(sorry Jamie’s!). Great value for quality on the food. Prime rib was the special(it always is on Fri. & Sat.) and for $ 19 the BF got a HUGE slab of mostly lean perfectly med-rare beef, plus soup, bread and some wonderful green beans. The man has a love of green beans that is unrivaled by anyone else I’ve ever known. These hit his spot… crisp-tender with lots of smoky bacon and caramelized onions. I tried the steamed clams for dinner(also available as an app.) Good size portion of littlenecks, steamed in a delicious wine/garlic/butter broth. Thought about getting the rice and the waitress was kind enough to tell me it’s «really nothing special» :) Appreciated her honesty and it wound up being a good tip as the crispy steak fries were a perfect complement to the clams. The one big disappoint was the bread. Great dipping bread is crucial with clams and theirs just doesn’t have much flavor or crunch. Couldn’t resist a slice of their banana cream pie. It was amazing! One slice was easily twice the size of most and it was soooo good! Fresh, ultra creamy… really just incredible. Fun, cozy atmosphere with friendly servers. Definitely worth a try!

Funny how we had steak and seafood at Had’s Steak and Seafood. Haha. The promise of a good steak sandwich(per Unilocalers) and a $ 20 coupon attracted us to this former sushi house. Honestly I had never even heard of this place until I saw the coupon offer in my email. They did a nice transformation on the inside. A very friendly, welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere, even with the candle-lit, white linen covered tables. The hostess and server were fabulous. We were seated right next to the busy kitchen’s swinging doors, and although it didn’t bother me, I saw a couple close calls between entering and exiting servers. The calamari strips were good, not usually how I like them prepared(I like the tentacles), but they were very substantial and not chewy. Slightly greasy but still tasty. Served with cocktail sauce and tarter sauce. It would’ve been nice to get some sort of aioli or special sauce instead. I had a cup of clam chowder. It wasn’t enough. I needed a pot of that heavenly New England chowder and a ladle! It was so perfect that I actually claimed it to be the best clam chowder I’ve ever tasted. Our server said that the owner, who is not a chef, makes the chowder. Kudos! Boyfriend had a nice side salad, and again, our server said the non-chef owner made the ranch dressing. It was good. I needed more to dip my fries in. Our steak sandwiches also came with a side of green beans with bacon and onion bits. I almost had to slap someone, they were soooo good! My only disappointment of the meal was, unfortunately, the steak. It was pretty chewy. Hate that. It was a lot rarer than how I ordered the medium rare. I suppose I could have asked them to grill it a little longer, but I usually don’t send my food back.(I just Unilocal about it.) Also they forgot to serve it with lettuce, tomato, and onions(it is still a sandwich, after all). My boyfriend gave it a 6 out of 10 rating after the first couple of bites. He upped it to 7 by the time he was finished with it. I had half of mine left which my doggies happily gulped down. They prefer their meat rare. So sadly I won’t return when I’m craving a steak sandwich, but I definitely will when I’m craving clam chowder. And some great service. I wish this little business luck.
