Doula Rhythms

Michelle is seriously the best thing that happened to us during our birth (besides our beautiful son of course! ;)
We hired Michelle as our doula and also had her as our Hypnobabies instructor and we couldn’t have asked for more. She was so incredibly supportive during my pregnancy and when I had an unforeseen complication and had to be induced 4 weeks early she was able to calm my fears so that we would be able to follow my birth plan as closely to the original as possible.
I ended up having a WONDERFUL 36 hour labor (yes, I said wonderful and labor in the same sentence). Thanks to Michelle’s Hypnobabies training and soothing company throughout the entire experience, I was able to successfully and comfortably deliver our baby boy completely medicine free and on my own terms. I had a pitocin-​free induction which is almost unheard of, and I 100% attribute it to Michelle’s support and encouragement. She is so well versed in Hypnobabies I do not know what I would have done without her.

Michelle was such a wonderful asset to our third child’s birth and our first homebirth, it was amazing. She is ridiculously knowledgable about so many different aspects of the birthing process ranging from positioning to assist in pain to recognizing signs of the progression of labor. As the father its hard to know how to be helpful during this whole process, but Michelle was there to tell me exactly what my wife needed from me and when. She provided unparralelled care for us during the time my wife first went into labor until well after birth but having her there for the hours before our midwife was «needed» was amazing. She guided us through the early stages of labor and knew when it was time to have the midwife start her trip out here (over an hour away). We and our now 6 month old baby Dakai love her dearly and were so glad to have her there to help and witness bringing him into our lives!

Just talking to Michelle about the process of pregnancy and what a woman goes through (AND what a man goes through!) was immediately comforting and enlightening. She answered all of our questions with gentleness and enthusiasm. She’s the perfect ally to have. Michelle was supportive of any birthing aids or birthing strategies that we were considering as well. That’s the best sign of someone who’s looking out for us.
