This place has pretty good Pan Dulce. Great bolillo/birote, the only bolillo I’ve had in Sacramento that reminds me of the one in México.

Walking in to this bakery you can smell all the baked goods! There’s a great variety of Mexican bread here and very affordable, it’s nothing that’s brought from another store, they bake everything here, all fresh. I brought bread to some coworkers and they loved it! The muffins and gingerbread piggies were a hit!!!

I wish I could give them no stars. I’m always in favor of supporting small businesses, especially Raza owned and I usually deter from giving bad reviews to places in instances where it seems just a bad day or a simple/common mistake. However, this is not the case. We purchased a cake from here and feel like we were scammed into believing that they could make something they were incapable of doing. My sister immediately told them that the cupcakes were supposed to be a gray color, however when we received it, it was deeP LAVENDAR. They told us to bring what we wanted to too the cake with(some stars on sticks) so that they would place them on there but when we brought them, the lady had an attitude and seemed like she didn’t want to do more work? The cake was for a baby shower and upon trying to feed our guests we came to find that the cake was BURNT and tough to eat and stained everyone’s faces and hands blue for days! EMBARRASING! When we took the 95% untouched cake back to the bakery, we politely told them the situation and the women working there snapped into bad attitudes, cursing and raising their voices. Perhaps they were offended because they took time to make it but honestly someone dropped the ball on this and it’s not fair that it has to fall back on the customer! they refused to give us our money back and wouldn’t even negotiate a 50% discount. We payed close to $ 100 for everything and really who has money to waste like that for an unsatisfactory product. More than disappointment in the cake, I’m disgusted by this business’ work ethics, complete disrespect and lack of customer service skills. As a person who has a bit of a network in the Latino community in Sacramento, you can expect that I will never again recommend this place to anyone. I really recommend taking your $ elsewhere, there’s plenty of small bakeries and entrepreneurs who deserve it MUCH more. Small Businesses in our community can’t expect to thrive with treating their customers like that. Terrible.

This bakery is in a very good location, but it doesn’t Maximize on its potential. For one, a better sign would do them wonders. Second, better organization of the store would make it look more appealing. And lastly, I would add variety to their menu. I.e. more selection of pan Mexicano, and at the very least, some coffee with cinammon! Overalll, not bad, but you need a lot of selection, you ain’t gonna find it here!

Eek!!! I bought two pastries & one tasted old(I didn’t even dare to sallow it) & the other one had mold inside when I cut it in half. Thank god I only bought two instead of a doze. I should have figured it out & make a run for the door since I was they only customer in this bakery during lunch time… so disappointing :(((((

I suggest you give them a try. We picked up 6 different pastries. My favorite was the thick 3 cream cake. It was super moist and full of flavor. The pink frosting was a perfect topping to the moist cake. I want a whole sheet for my next party. will be back for sure.

What happens in each of these situations: walking into a bar, taking the MCAT or any of many standardized tests, buying beers at gas stations, and buying student rate museum tickets? They always ask for an ID. And I don’t think my pastries should be exempt this. Who do they think they are? Only rappers can walk into a club with no ID, not a churro. Speaking of churros, as I mentioned in my tip there have been no churros after numerous visits. Upon entering Dane’s bakery, you won’t see any identifying information of anything, whether it be price or what it even is. You are left with two options 1) feel super annoying and go along both pastry cases asking what every single thing is or 2) gesticulate randomly and end up with a mystery selection at a mystery price. I shamelessly took the first route, only to discover that the lady’s responses were vague and terse enough that I should have just pointed randomly. That said, the mystery price after selecting my pastries was rock bottom cheap. Like seriously, perhaps one of the lowest priced bakeries I’ve ever encountered. The pastries themselves were just alright. My favorite is the gingerbread pig, but even then it wasn’t particularly amazing. Everything I’ve gotten has been distinctly dry. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just a difference in preference though. Also, it’s a little annoying that they only have enormous ~25 piece boxes or 2 – 3 piece paper bags. If you want to find something more exciting than bringing a dozen donuts to that next meeting, your options are either bringing two dozen, or bringing an unwieldy mass of paper bags for your friends/frenemies/coworkers/whoever to awkwardly split and get their fingers all over while looking through each narrow paper bag. Overall, Dane’s bakery has quite the range of decent baked goods in a slightly run down and difficult to comprehend store, but it’s a reasonable bet for your sugar fix.

Their craft is rustic and they produce some of the best Mexican sweet bread you can ever taste. Their hours are a bit odd but once you go in and taste their product you will come back again. Their pastel de tres leches(three milks cake) is among one of the best I’ve ever had, and I’m Mexican! Come in and try their bread. You will not be disappointed!

My friend wanted to drop in for some baked goodies after dinner next door and it was our first time. I didn’t even notice that there was a bakery in this little plaza until she mentioned it. Nice, small little shop with most of the basic and essentials to a Mexican bakery. A little unorganized but I was immediately distracted by the churros and the different varieties of pastries. I got two churros, $ 0.90 each but they weren’t piping hot and very doughy throughout the bites, but it was at the end of day and they were a good size. I then saw something else that captured my attention, little mini baked cups which appeared to be like cheesecake. I asked the worker what were they to be sure and she then told me that they were indeed baked cheesecake cups and they also had sweet corn cups, which looked uncanny to the cheesecake but instead where filled with mushed up sweet corn. I told her to grab me one of each, which were only a $ 1 and they were as big as the size of my hand. The cheesecake cup was good… thick, creamy and soft and not too sweet. The sweet corn cups were too as good and was said to be the most popular, not too sweet and moist. I also grabbed a Mexican wedding cookie on a different day for $ 1 but they weren’t as good as it looked so I would pass on that. I definitely like their cheesecake and corn cups and would recommend it if you like cheesecake or lightly sweetened dessert when you’re in the area!

A mexican bakery. Pasteleria. Part of a strip mall on the corner of Broadway and 65th. I walked in and nothing was labeled. I didn’t know what anything was, really. So, for an outsider– it’s a little difficult. I would ask about particular items and the lady there was nice and she answered. What’s that shaped like a pig? Gingerbread. Really? You see, to an outsider, someone who doesn’t know shit about this. It’s a little odd. A pig gingerbread. But it’s a Puerquito. I looked it up. It’s a known thing. I was curious about everything but, I felt like a problem person asking about this and that so I limited myself. I chose a couple things. It’s not a place to have a drink or eat. Just a pick and go so, I did. And, it was good stuff on top of a little learning experience.
