Brownies is a place to go if you don’t want to go anywhere fancy. It’s a great place for cheap drinks. They have tvs, bit their tables are a little wabbly and they could definitely benefit from a slight upgrade. I can only speak on the night life there. I have yet to go there for breakfast or lunch.

I was there two Saturdays in a row. The first Saturday was awesome. My friend had reserved a table ahead of time for 6 for bottle service. When we arrived, they wanted to seat us in the«restaurant section» but we asked to be seated somewhere else and they complied and we had a great time. We got to enjoy the view since it was a beautiful night and the place was packed. The

This place is a throwback to 1970’s. I remember Brownie’s back in the 70’s when Brownie was a handsome guy operating on 24th street. The place on 24th street then and if you think that the place is a dive now you should have scene Browines back then. Actually the place was a real cocktail lounge in those days. The place get’s a nice clientele for a dive bar and the lunch they serve is pretty good. A great place for cheap drinks a french dip, burger, corned beef and cabbage on St Paddy’s day, and lunch specials.

Still a great place for cheap drinks and people watching entertainment. No more Coors light and back to the PBR tall boys, want to give 3.5 stars since I liked my Coors talls. Jukebox is digital and now has an app so easy to use from the bar while you drink!

This is a perfectly serviceable neighborhood bar. Carpet is a bad idea, but so is all of the décor here. We stopped in after grocery shopping and caught part of the Battle of the Bay. The proud old dude put out fatty hot dogs, canned chili and potato chips for free. Friendly mix of folks, bartender had good expectations for normal customers Go there… have a bloody mary.

Fun grocery shopping stop on the weekends. The Bloody Mary’s are great. The ambiance is very 1970’s– neighborhood– cop-Irish guy kinda bar. Apparently you can bring food from other places and eat it picnic style at their dining tables. There is a BBQ place next door, with take out. Prices are excellent. The crowd seems like regulars, old timers and blue collar folks. People are friendly and mellow during the day.

Brownie’s a straight DIVE! And I love it! Probably one of the divest bars in Sacramento(if that is even a term)! I have been a few times over the years and it has never appointed. The bartenders have a heavy hand and are very sweet. The regulars walk over, ride over, and some drive over; and they sit for hours at a time LOL! Only complaints are; cash only and the bathroom is not the cleanest. But for a local joint this is a nice spot to grab a drink out while in Greenhaven. Shoot I think our last visit we have 5 drinks(3 crown on the rocks and two vodka tonics) and paid $ 18!!! Cheers!

Neighborhood Irish flavor with cheap cocktails and interesting clientelle. You never know who you’re going to meet. I met the author(Sam Ortega) of «Viva Villa»(true story of Pancho Villa’s life) and bought two autographed copies on the spot. The author of «Payton’s Journey»(the what if story about Adolph Hitler)… is a regular. Occasionally, Brownie himself makes an appearance. The place goes bonkers on St. Patrick’s Day. By the way, it’s cash only though there is an ATM on the premises.

It’s dark, it’s dirty and needed remodeling 20 years ago. Yep, it’s your friendly neighborhood dive bar. Brownie’s is a good place to knock back a cheap beer or enjoy some tender corned beef. You won’t impress any dates here however. The smoking area near the entrance is disgusting, the décor screams 1970s and it’s so dark you don’t need beer goggles at closing time. One of the regulars drove his SUV into the business next door, took a hard right and crashed through the dividing wall into Brownies. He sent the juke box flying across the bar. Luckily nobody was killed by it. The damage has been repaired but the juke box has been repositioned so it doesn’t happen again. On a calmer night, there might be guy kicking his ex-girlfriends car, a couple having a fight, drunk women making fools of themselves, the owners screaming at a beer rep or a bartender chewing someone out as they are ejected from the bar. If you like that kind of drama and being hit on by portly cougars, this place is for you.

I had left a 3 star review before, but they got rid of the douchey creep and replaced him with a really cool dude. Max, is a great bartender and I will definitely come back every time I’m in town Great prices, great patrons, great jukebox. FREE guitar pics in the bathrooms! This place is the wet dream of memories.

The other reviews confuse me greatly and make me wonder if I was at another Brownie’s on Land Park! Where do I start, the smell of urine that kicked me in the face when I reached the front door or the unkempt front entrance, the slow service or the horrific drink? My coworkers love Brownies(although they even said my drink was awful) and that’s their happy hour hang out — what can I say we’re a bunch of broke state workers with no taste — except me! I mean the taste part — I’m definitely broke, but not broke enough to go back to Brownies. I’ll crack open a Corona or 2 at home and invite the minions to my house before going back there! Also my coworkers say the food is very good — they weren’t serving food the night we were there so my review is solely based upon the bar experience.

I totally think it’s time for a young people invasion. This is a dive bar with beat down furniture, and as previous reviews mentioned, reminiscent of the show Cheers. Yet, it’s totally worth coming to! Come for lunch, and try their food. It really is worth trying. Alright, so the service was slow. We went in, ordered, and then I started talking to myself as if I was talking to the service person: «excuse me! I’m really hungry! I’m ready! Please bring my food!» and just about when my boyfriend was starting to find it difficult to keep me seated and patiently waiting, the lady brought our food. If you know me, you know that of course I had to try the french dip, and my boyfriend got the corned beef(Thursday special). So are you ready? I HAVE A NEWFRENCHDIPFAVORITEINSACRAMENTO! The french dip is loaded, and I mean loaded with meat. So, I had to take some of the meat out so that I can actually dip it! I put some of the magical, strong, awesome horseradish on there, dip, and… OMG! So good. Like seriously good. I didn’t take the last bite. Kept it. I’m gonna have it later on tonight so that my night can end the best way possible: with some awesome French dip! The corned beef was really good too. They definitely cook it with lots of bay leaf, you can smell it pretty strongly and I love the smell of aromatic herbs. the corned beef is served with steamed carrots and cabbage, and two pieces of toasts treated like garlic bread. I have so much left overs, I am a very happy girl right now! The reason I deducted one star: the slow service, and the under seasoned carrots and cabbage. But the rest, was awesome. And let me tell you, just to do them justice: even though the service was slow, the lady was super friendly, very nice, very courteous and helpful. They don’t take credit cards, but they’ll happily accept your check, or you can get some cash from the atm machine. This is a great place. give it a try, and if you’re not scared of horseradish, slather some on your bread, and dip in the jus… SOAWESOME! DOIT! Oh btw: Wednesdays is ribs and sausage and sauerkraut day, Thursday is corned beef day, and Friday is seafood day

Loving this place. Total dive and so our style. Eileen the bartender has been awesome! The drinks are ridiculously cheap and ridiculously strong, my two favorite things. We will definitely be coming back.

About 15 years ago, I went to Brownie’s for the first time. It was the last stop of our St. Patrick’s Day crawl. All I remember was walking into a dark, dank, dive of a bar. Fast forward to 2014, the night before Cesar Chavez Day. I remember walking into a dark, dank, dive of a bar. End of review.

It’s cold, dark and has a funky smell(Ooohhh that smell…). And it’s cash only. Can we all say DIVE? Yes, lets. I’ve had plenty of friends suggest this place, which is the only reason why I ever show up. Between DMV and Unilocal people, I find myself here quiet a few times. Don’t let the lack of check-ins fool you! =) Sometimes, they have free snacks in the back area. From fried shrimp to pizza rolls, you’ll find something. And they don’t seem to mind if you bring in food from the neighboring establishments. And it’s CHEAP! I mean… CHEAP!!! They gave me this massive whiskey sour for only $ 4! I mean… come on!!! But if things are so cheap, you drink more. So really, it’s so great. And Crown and Jameson for $ 5??? Get outta town! Sign me up and pour me another!

This place is quite the neighborhood bar, everyone seems to know everyone, so it definitely has the«at home» atmosphere. Well drinks are strong lol, so pace yourself unless you want to let loose then have at it! Bartenders are really friendly and make excellent drinks, and will accommodate to your taste as well. Apparently they are rated best«corn beef» but as a vegetarian I don’t recommend this place for food for the simple fact that it is not vegetarian friendly, but others have highly recommended their food. So indulge I say!

Awesome neighborhood bar. Heavy pour of Jameson for $ 4. Good energy. And, the bartenders will even put up with your ridiculous friend who tries to order peach Schnapps over ice, because she doesn’t like the taste of alcohol.

A great hole in the wall dive bar located in the South Land Park area! It doesn’t ever seem to get too crowded, and the crowd is usually pretty chill here. Like a lot of the other dive bars, they pack their drinks with a lot of alcohol for a very cheap price! Definitely a great place to come kick it if you want a low key evening with friends and not have to worry about the crazy bar scene of downtown and all the stuff that comes with it!

Dive fa sho! No Trumer Pils or Stella… so I opted for a Corona w/lime. Your basic, basic watering hole.

I LOVE this place. I love Pat and Rick… I swear I’m here every other week, if not every day, lol. WARNING! Whatever it is they pour from the Crown bottle is NOT crown! I usually stick to Jameson when I’m here. Super divey, cash only, jukebox, two TVs, as divey as it gets!
