Great little venue for live music! Cheap bears, and cool people working there. Not terribly big inside, so get there early for a good spot if you’re seeing a live band!

I don’t really have any reason to rate this place less than five stars. Craft beer for only $ 5? Sold. Huge tour being hosted? Sold. I’d complain about the space being too small for how big the show was, but the show WAS here. I can’t complain about that. Sacramento needs more underground venues. Thank you, Blue Lamp. I don’t think they do ins and outs, which fking sucks, but whatever. Keep getting tours.

I am glad to have worked on projects for all the charities and fundraising causes the Bluelamp supports(Joe, ground chuck, Billy, SPCA, etc.) I don’t think obeying laws and protecting your interest defines a venue or makes people less of human beings. Ignoring laws and regulations would take away the opportunity to have an impact local arts especially the musicians. I look forward to continuing working with this venue and hope for great things in the future.

I love going to shows at Blue Lamp! It’s a great location, there’s a variety of music genres, good drink prices, and the people that work there are all very friendly. I always have a great time there. If they could do all ages shows, this venue would be absolutely perfect.

I always have a good time playing and attending shows here. One of the best clubs in Sac. to play a show at. I have played here over the past 13 – 14 years MANY times in 5 different bands and will keep doing so. Everyone is nice and professional! Bar staff as well as Door/Security are always happy and I have never been hassled about anything. They treat everyone with respect even though many times people do not seem want to give that same respect to the venues they enjoy. Good prices, good music and good people!

I’ve been going to the Blue Lamp for fifteen years. It is one of the best venues in town. They always book the best shows. Gabby and all of the staff including the bouncers are great. Hanging out at The Blue Lamp feels like hanging out with family.

I’m going to call BS on the review by Jason W. From SF. This venue is incredibly supportive of local and touring bands. Gabbi is a true fan of music and does not discriminate against any genre. She is accommodating, and unlike many other venues she does not give bands grief when turnouts are less than expected. She generally finds commercial models that share the risk and reward the risk, but if you are a nationally unknown touring band or from out of town, don’t expect a guarantee, instead partner up with a local act that has some draw and get over yourself, be the opener. As far as this marijuana business, I completely understand the venue’s position of protecting their license.

The Blue Lamp is RAD! Gabi and Ben are hard working and have made a name for themselves with keeping a Sacramento landmark alive. I have been to many shows/events at the Blue Lamp and it’s always a great time. The beer is always cold! The staff professional, and I’m always greeted with a smile. Gabi and Ben care about their patrons! I got a little too tipsy(drunk) once and they made sure I got home safe. Gabi and Ben put a lot of heart and soul into their dream, and have made the Blue Lamp a great place to frequent. And to that ‘entitled artist’ cry baby, just because you have a medicinal marijuana card, It doesn’t mean you can smoke your weed anywhere you like. It is still illegal to smoke in public. You probably vape too! Kick Rocks!

I have been here about 10 times over the past few years for concerts and I have had a great experience every time. The staff is awesome, from owner Gabi to the doorman. Cheap prices for good beer and I get to see great bands(mtx/Raven/moans/secretions/tsol and tons more) up close. The place is one of the best run venues in Sacramento. Thank you Gabi and blue lamp!

Love love love this venue. Have seen a few great shows here. Awesome place to see bands, and as we have friends IN bands, they seem to love it too. Go here. See shows. Have fun. THAT is what this place is about

This is hands-down one of the best places to see a small-venue type show in Sacramento. Gabi is always there with a smile, and they really try to bring in a lot of different types of musical performers. Have seen many memorable shows there, and hope to see many more.

I’ve produced 15 different shows here, and I love everything about this damn place! The owner Gabi is super cool and rocking and awesome and she’s the most amazingest. Plus Chauncy the door guy is a sweet teddy bear that is as good as it gets. The drinks are great. The sound is great. The crowds are always great. And I feel so welcome and at home here. Great diverse shows and diverse crowds. I was here a while ago and saw a band trying to smoke some crack outside. They kept saying, «THISISPRESCRIPTIONCRACKFROMDONALDTRUMP!» It was really scary, and they were asked to leave. One of them dropped a crack pipe and said, «WE’REFROMSANFRANCISCO, AND U CANGETWE’LLNEVERBRINGOURNICKLEBACKCOVERBANDBACKHEREAGAIN!» I thought the Blue Lamp handled everything with class. What a horrible band.

This venue has been an institution for local music for years. When Gabi & Ben took over, it took on a new meaning to our local music scene. The way they treat bands should be the standard by which all venues are measured. The stage is the perfect size for rock n roll and there isn’t a band that hasn’t been happy with the sound. When shows are packed, you can clearly see the band from wherever you are standing. As a member of the Sacramento music scene since 1991, I say for a fact that The Blue Lamp is a vital gear in our local music machine.

I have frequented the Blue Lamp for many a show, both as a concert goer and a musician. The staff is always friendly, the drink prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is casual. As a musician, I appreciate the fact that they run a tight ship — they expect bands to show up on time and be professional. The sound is some of the best in Sacramento, both on stage and off. Gabi, their primary booker, is easy to work with and personable. Their restrooms are always clean, which is not the case for many a midtown bar. It is usually not too difficult to find parking. They have a pool table, host trivia nights, and have live music just about all the time. Since the ownership has changed, they have really worked to clean up the place. I have never had a bad experience at the 25+ shows I have attended or played here.

The new(ish) owners have really improved this place in many ways. Now Blue Lamp books a more diverse lineup of shows, security seems cool, and you can buy tickets online with no extra fee; that’s perfect when you’re worried about a show selling out or you’re low on dough and need to charge the expense. Most importantly, the sound has improved. I don’t know if they made any structural changes to improve the poor acoustics or if the sound engineer is just that much better, but it’s a noticeable difference. Also, self-serve, cold water at the end of the bar.

I rarely spend evenings out on the town… but when I do, it’s at the Blue Lamp. Relaxed, definite mood lighting, awesome service and live music on the reg. Whether you are into punk, rock, reggae, metal, or 80s dance, the Blue Lamp has a night for you!;) *SNACKS! Everyone loves a good snack,(sorry vegetarians) but holy cow do they have some of the most bomb jerky I’ve ever consumed. YUMYUMYUM!!! Chocolate and popcorn also available!;) *SMOKERS! No need to make a stop at the corner store on your way, they have a range of options for you! Can’t wait to watch the Blue Lamp grow under the new owners, with just a little over a year under their belt, it’s only continued to progress with time. See you there!;)

My band played here numerous times, and we always had a good time. When you draw a large crowd, the energy in the room is fantastic! It doesn’t hurt that the stage is actually a decent size, the sound system is good, and there’s plenty of room for the crowd to watch the show. The booker is easy to work with, the owner is a cool dude, and everybody who works there treated us well. I’d recommend any band play here, as long as they can get a good crowd!
