I ordered the kitchen sink and was happy with my choice, the flavor was spot on. The restaurant is a quaint, trendy and service was quick and very attentive. The issue that I had with my food was that it was too hot(never a complaint in my book normally). My first bite into one of the potatoes I burnt my mouth. An hour later I have two blisters on the top of my mouth. Again, I wouldn’t normally have an issue with this, but a heads up as to the blistering temperature would have been appreciated so I could have cut into the potatoes to release the heat or I could have waited a few minutes. The lasting impression I walk away from a place with shouldn’t be pain from blisters in my mouth :/

The b&b burger with salad was awesome. My husband and I ate there for lunch today. I didn’t care much for the building a little shabby. Second visit: We brought two friends to eat here after a dr appt. the food was awesome. We were cold under the a/c vent. The owner moved us very graciously. We enjoyed the meal and the visit with our friends.

This place is buzzing with nothing but hype! My friends couldn’t stop talking about it and so I haaad to try it out for myself! The wait. Oh man… the wait. I came with one other friend, making it a total of two, but we ended up waiting for 45 minutes. There is also no where to wait so the line is clear out the door — in other words, you have to stand outside. I browsed the convenient store next door and stumbled upon some great tea pots but I didn’t kill enough time to be seated for brunch. It happened to be chilly that day and it started sprinkling so that wasn’t a great situation to be in but once we finally got inside things started to turn around. The service was good but it was clearly busy. Our waiter seemed very rushed and all over the place. This is obviously because of how packed it was inside. It is a small restaurant so it seems like they have a hard time accommodating everyone who is dying to get in. By the time our waiter came to us we ordered drinks and food while we had his attention. The food was good. I enjoyed my waffles and fruit but they didn’t blow me away like I thought they would. Naturally this was due to all the hype. I would definitely come back to try something new during their slow hours.

BESTAVOTOASTOFMYLIFE Avocado toast: I was a bit hesitant because it costs a whopping $ 14, but after reading the description I decided to go for it. And when it arrived it did not disappoint. Its a huge slice of fluffy delicious toast smothered in chunks of heavenly avocado and arugula topped off with two perfectly poached eggies. Next time I would pass on the side fruit and get the potatoes, the fruit was pretty pitiful. Grilled cheese benedict: Boyfriend got the grilled cheese benedict, and swapped the bacon for avocado. It was SOGEWD. He basically inhaled it in 5 minutes but I did manage to get about two bites of it, it was the best benedict he’s ever had. The waitress also admitted its her favorite thing on the menu, alongside the toast I ordered. We came here at about 2pm on a Saturday and there was only a 15 min wait at this point for 2 people, and the place was packed even though they close at 3. I am in love with this place, and was admiring the décor all the while I ate. It feels homey yet hipster. Casual yet cool. What I noticed and really liked is that each dish seemed to be traditional brunch item but with a special fancy twist to it. I would definitely come back to try the other items on the menu!!!

Came here for the first time(06÷09÷16) around 1pm and I’m assuming it’s a good time to go since it was busy but no wait. I ordered the Biscuit Sandwich, which consisted of bacon, caramelized onion, cheddar cheese skirt, chive mascarpone, egg, and a side of fruit or potato. I went with potato of course, and made it «wet» by adding a side of their bacon gravy. The sandwich was fantastic. The homemade biscuit was killer and the subtleness of the chive mascarpone made for a tasty sandwich. I’m not a fan of cheese skirts in general but this wasn’t super thick so I was okay with it. My biscuit did break pretty easy so I only got a couple bites eating it like an actual sandwich before switching to utensils. And although I still prefer sausage gravy, the bacon gravy was delicious! Poured it on parts of my biscuit and all over my potatoes. Yummy stuff. Our server was nice and patient as we were mulling over the menu. Also the small milk jug looking bottles they use are cool, and the servers use old hard cover Readers Digest books to give your check. Overall for my first time here it was great. The atmosphere, décor, food, and server were spot on. I’ll definitely be back.

I had been wanting to come here for a while, but patiently waited for a time where I was really hungover and didn’t have to work the next day(since the food sounded really heavy… like triple-OG-status heavy!) Chicken and Waffles: 3⁄5 — The waffle was on the doughy side, and everything was too sweet(FYI — I don’t have a sweet tooth). It reminded me of the Brunch Boys’ chicken and waffle sandwich(food truck). But maybe you will enjoy this dish more than I did.(And if you do, hop on that food truck!) Grilled Cheese Benedict: 5⁄5 — Interesting… I’m glad I tried it. I’m not a big Benedict fan, but everything surprisingly paired well together. This dish contained some heavy, gooey goodness that made my heart skip a beat(Really, Really). For those who never dined here, I recommend doing what I did and come when you’re craving a hearty breakfast. That way, it is inevitable that you will be satisfied :) Even though the mimosa carafe didn’t meet my expectations(weak!), I didn’t regret anything when I left this busy restaurant. Also, you can always go to Cortis around the corner to get some of that pâté before you head back.

We had a family style type of brunch dining since we made a RSVP for 8 people. They were able to accommodate us when we called in about an hour before we wanted to RSVP on a Saturday.(RSVP for 8 or more, only family style $ 15.50 each without tax/tip included) This family style concept is very new to me, but it was amazing! Everyone will get a side of eggs, potatoes, bacon and fruit and as a group we get to choose two entrees. They will make the portions large enough to feed more than 8 people! The sides were hefty portions and it all tasted very fresh and delicious. We ordered the grilled cheese benedict and the kitchen sink as our two entrees– both are what they are known for, and I highly recommend both items! All of us were very content what this family style brunch!

Started our 15th Wedding Anniversary day with breakfast here and it set the tone for a perfect day! I had the Kitchen Sink & hubby had Biscuits & Gravy. The KS was a combination masterpiece that might sound like a mess, but every ingredient matched in a complete textured and flavored experience that can only be felt and tasted. If, no WHEN, you visit… Try it, you will not regret it. The B&G was great too, but personally was a little too much and rich for me. If you like rich soupy textures and tastes, it hits the jackpot. Be prepared to wait a while… they don’t take reservations… First come first served. But it’s worth the wait, and once you place your order it will magically appear in front of you within minutes. It’s pretty amazing! Our server was attentive and laughed at my jokes… Especially when I told her I was going to steal the cute little milk creamer bottle! So cute!

I went with my girlfriend and her family for brunch and she received a large 2nd degree, blistering burn on the roof of her mouth from her breakfast. When we called the restaurant afterwards to inform them that the food had made her mouth blister, and my girlfriend asked the owner«what if this happened to a child or elderly person?» the manager/owner’s, «Billy», response was«well sorry that happened to you but when we serve our food cold people complain.» We were not looking for free food or any type of compensation but the response from the owner was rude, cold and completely unconcerned. He made no effort to understand or address the potential for that situation to happen again other than his sarcastic comment about people’s complaints about cold food. I get the desire to have hot fresh food, but 10 minutes after your food arrives it should not be hot enough to create a blistering burn to the top of your mouth. We will not be returning due to the unprofessional response from the owner, but if you choose to eat here make sure you blow on your food first because if you or your loved ones happen to get burned and cannot talk properly or eat solid food for the next 48 hours, I am sure the owner«Billy» will treat you with the same level of concern and professionalism.

Bacon & Butter knows how to do brunch! This place is busy during the weekends! Line is out the door and the wait times are long! But i think at the end it was well worth it. My fiancé, her sister, and her cousin were waiting in line for at least one hour. I came later so I didn’t have to wait that long: P. There are some benches in front to sit but you might have to stand. After our name was called, we were guided to our table by the hostess near the front door. Inside they have your basic tables and there is bar style seating. We were greeted by the server and he gave us the menu. The menu consists of various breakfast items including flapjacks, waffles, breakfast burrito, biscuits and gravy, omelets, french toast, and other items. Sides include fruit, eggs, potatoes, bacon, oatmeal, etc. I ordered the strawberry and rhubarb flapjacks with a side of scramble eggs. This entrée did not disappoint one bit. The portion size was big enough for two meals. The flapjacks themselves were delicious and I would recommend this dish. They weren’t too sweet but it had tons of flavor to it. The rest of my party ordered the chicken and waffles and it looked good. Service was good here as our server was friendly. We ended up requesting a lot of items from him but he seemed like he didn’t mind. He refilled our drinks, got extra napkins, extra sugar, and all the other little things. Food came out quickly right after we order. Parking can be a hassle here. They have a parking lot but since this place is busy, all the spots are taken. Street parking is allowed near by.

I had really high expectations of Bacon and Butter after following them on IG and reading all the Unilocal reviews. First time I went, I was a bit disappointed with my French Toast. It was way too rich and overpriced($ 14). I could only eat half. I’m a fan of sweets for breakfast, but even this was too much for me. Second time I went with a friend who insisted I go so that B&B could redeem themselves. I chose their asparagus salad with bacon and my friend and I split a banana french toast. The salad and french toast were very tasty, but nothing that knocked my socks off. The same could be said for the service. Please don’t get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with anything. The food, service, ambiance and experience were all positive, but nothing extraordinary. I would go back if I was in the area or if someone really wanted to go, but I don’t think I would go out of my way.

I wanted to start out my 3 day weekend with a BANG so I decided to eat lunch at Bacon & Butter! This place has been on my bookmark list long enough. The parking is limited so be prepared to park on the roadside. Upon entering the restaurant, the hostess greeted us, took our name, and gave us a wait time. The bar had a quicker seating time so we decided to sit there. The atmosphere was a casual diner with 80s music playing in the background. I ordered the Chicken & Waffle. The dish had a Belgian style waffle combined with fried chicken breast(with rhubarb, syrup, and butter). The price was higher than a typical lunch but receiving a combined dish justified the cost. While waiting for my food, we were introduced to the waitress covering our waiter on break so we’re not abandoned. They were staffed well and they kept checking up on us. The food impressively arrived within 10 minutes on a busy Friday afternoon. The waffle was hard enough to hold up the chicken but soft enough to eat. The chicken was well cooked and I especially liked the ample amount of rhubarb on top. The best part was the butter, homemade and light. Either dish was just ok by itself but combined the entrée was delicious. The OJ was good but was not freshly squeezed. I enjoyed eating lunch here but it just wasn’t spectacular enough to rate them 5 stars.

Hands down, my favorite brunch spot in Sacramento! Bacon & Butter is not meant for the faint of heart. If you don’t mind grubbing down on a lot of delicious calories, then this place might not be for you. With any brunch place, going on the weekend will have a definite wait(45mins — 1.5hr). My suggestion is to go right before the place opens or after 12:30pm. The crowds dies down and you won’t have to wait as long! As for the ambience, this place classifies itself as hipster. Mason jars as water cups, books holding your checks, and young workers create that vibe, but it’s still a family-friendly place. Now lets move onto the dishes because boy. they are gooooood! Grilled Cheese Benedict($ 15) — My favorite! It’s the most popular & famous dish on their menu and by all means, I can see why. You have a nice grilled cheese wrapped in crispy bacon and a nice poached egg right on top w/some hollandaise sauce. It’s a tad decadent, but the grilled cheese is toasty and makes a great combination to your classic Eggs Benedict. If you can’t decide on something, try this. Breakfast Burger($ 15) — Ground beef patty with bacon & more bacon on top. how could you say no? Great standard burger that is definitely delicious, but it can be a tad too oily. Biscuit, Bacon & Gravy($ 12) — Damn man. that gravy is ! Similar to the Grilled Cheese Benedict, this fella’ is pretty decadent as well, but the gravy is the stand out of the dish, while the eggs & bacon add a nice touch! Kitchen Sink($ 13) — Pretty decent as well. Not my absolute favorite cause the Lardon can be tough to eat. Presentation wise, it kinda looks like a big floppy mess, but I mean. it all goes in your mouth anyway. Overall, this place is awesome. I wouldn’t eat here everyday just cause it’s a tad pricy & the dishes are quite heavy, but it’s a nice treat. Otherwise, service is always great and if you get the chance, definitely try this place out!

We went on a Friday at like 8am and waited 15min for a table for 2, «The Unicorns.» They humored us by calling out our party name so high marks for that. Despite being busy, we never felt rushed and the staff was attentive and helpful throughout our visit. I’m rating it a 3 star because I don’t think it would have been worth any longer wait or the hype that people give it. We got one sweet and one savory. Sweet was the French Toast. Not sure I’d pay however much again for it but it was worth a try after all the raving over it. the greatest part about it was the fried bananas on the side, which is a huge ringing endorsement because I don’t typically like cooked fruit. Another great point is that it complimented our savory dish, The Kitchen Sink. I can’t remember what was in this but it was filling and satisfying. Don’t bother with the antiques store next door… kinda creepy and they hit the jackpot with Bacon and Butter moving in next door. PROS: decent food, faster wait than we thought, funny staff CONS: not worth any longer wait, check out other places too

Had to drive out to Sacramento for some business and we decided to have breakfast out here. Decided on this place due to all the fantastic reviews and they did not disappoint! The place was booming on a Friday morning and even though it was fairly business we literally were seated within minutes of walking in. The host was very bright and all smiles which is what I love when I go into a establishment. Really sets the mood. We were starving by the time we got to order so we went a little over board.(And nothing was wasted) we ended up order 2 chicken and waffle dishes and the grilled cheese Benedict to share! And damn were they all good. The flavor of the waffle was on point and it was light and fluffy. Chicken was very tender and had plenty of flavors. The grilled cheese benefit was amazing. My mouth literally was having a party! The service is fantastic, all servers were very attentive. This is certainly a staple to have breakfast whenever we find ourselves in Sacramento.

First time coming here so I didn’t quite know what to order. I finally decided to get the Kitchen Sink which comes with lardon, potatoes, spinach, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and eggs! I enjoyed this meal but the lardon was too hard! You can also add slices of avocados, which I did because, let’s be real, avocados makes everything taste better. BF got the chicken & waffles. He said it was good & ok. Nothing special about it. The portion could’ve been bigger though. It was really small. Overall, it was an OK brunch, but I would like to come back again to try the banana french toast and the biscuit & bacon gravy. Service was good, I thought our waiter was cute. Lol.

One thing I like about being a single guy going to eat is that I never have to wait long to eat pretty much anywhere. This applied to a lot of tiny restaurants that I frequented down in San Diego, and certainly still applies in this case. I’ve come to find I also have the same issue with good ramen places since they fill up quick and there are always people coming through so that single seat at the bar is really convenient. The only other people I have to battle with are those coming off of work, or other food crazy people. After eating the food, It is quite understandable why this place is so packed on a consistent basis. If you’re coming here with a large group, prepare to wait a little bit since seating is limited. This isn’t to say that the place is tiny by any means but there were a bunch waiting outside already as it was. Prior to coming here, had to check out their site. Having the menus for the weekend available to check is really convenient. Being able to compare what I see with the pictures on Unilocal and kind of game plan brunch exploration really helps. This place is also close to where I live. Too close I say. One main problem with good food being close is that it easily bypasses the laziness barrier of the weekend and I’ll probably end up going there too much. My waistline is not as compatible as it used to be with eating out all the time haha. The service was on point, quick and attentive. I was checked on by at least 4 different people over the course of the meal. I ordered a spicy bloody mary to begin with since it is a comfort drink to me, and helps to build the meal. I ordered the grilled cheese benedict since well… I love all the components of it so how could I go wrong? Honestly though, the food was better than I expected. Like, how does that quote go… the whole is greater than the sum of its parts? Might be a man is greater instead. Yeah something like that except in food form. Still kinda drooling thinking about it even though I did just eat it… Anyway, I’m getting off topic… The bartender was chill to talk with, seemed laid back and relaxed while making drinks. He said that today was a slow day. I was very glad at that point to come in on a slower day for Sunday brunch hours honestly considering the circumstances. I only waited a few minutes to sit which is the best I could hope for. Yay instant gratification. He also had a Sac Republic shirt on. Another soccer fan, a plus haha. Would probably be more useful during a time when a conversation could actually be struck. The grilled cheese benedict was delish. The halla… hallah… no, challah bread(ty google) worked well with it. Crisp on the outside with good texture and sponginess. It all was cooked well but what knocked it out for me was the hollandaise. It was a bit lighter and a little tart. It made for a complete bite with the food so I took as long as I could to savor the meal without devouring it all too quickly. Don’t get me wrong, I love all things hollandaise and if it wasn’t so bad for me I would probably douse everything in it. This was one of the better ones that I’ve had in general and will have to come back again for. Or maybe all the other ones I’ve had before were wrong in some way… Anyway, along with the bloody mary the whole meal just balanced for me. I don’t know if I would get other things since this is like my staple brunch food done very well. I honestly considered getting a second meal just to try more stuff from there and that the food coma would be well worth the effort. Definitely try this place though, and be prepared to balance the time vs the size of your group vs the amount of people that got there before you. Even if you do wait a while your time will not be wasted I assure you.

My husband and I went to Bacon & Butter for bunch(on a weekday), and it was packed! But we only waited less than 5 minutes for our table. Ambience: The resto had a hipster/vintage feel to it. Service: We were greeted right when we entered the place. When we sat down, our server immediately asked for our drinks. She was very nice — smiled the whole time. She stopped by our table several times asking about the food and if we were ok. I like that. Kudos to her!(Side note: all the servers were very clean cut) My only gripe was that they didn’t refill our water. Food: I ordered the Banana French Toast and my husband ordered the Bacon & Egg Flapjack. By far, the best French toast I’ve had(ever). I like that they grilled the banana and the toast was not soggy. I’ve never thought of putting nuts(sunflower, almonds, and walnuts) as toppings but it worked. Halfway through my meal… the sweetness of the French toast got me. So, I ordered a side of bacon. My husband said he liked his meal. He thought it was weird that they put the bacon inside the pancake. His order came with a chicaron(fried pork skin) that has cinnamon sugar in it. I had a taste, it was interesting(not my cup of tea though). His only gripe was the price. I agree… it was a little pricey. Overall, we like the place. I would come back. My husband said he’ll think about it.

Grilled cheese benedict with potatoes: why have I never thought of this creation before??? If you love grilled cheese, you’ll love this for breakfast. They used thicker slices of bread which worked well soaking up the egg yolk and hollandaise sauce. Biscuit and bacon gravy: this gravy definitely has a salty but different flavor to it. It wasn’t to die for, but it was a great pairing to the biscuit and my potatoes. Cinnamon roll: a huge cinnamon roll that is almost the size of the plate also seemed like a good idea. The roll itself was soft but I do wish it was gooier. I also wish the frosting wasn’t dried out on top. Maybe it needed to be warmed up again? Overall, I still enjoyed the meal and also the décor and atmosphere of the place. I know where to come for a great breakfast.

I honestly don’t even know what to say. This place is perfection, and you aren’t reading this review thinking — eh, but I heard it’s just«ok» — NO. This a foodie paradise and everyone knows about. People flock here for amazing brunches, to have their 5-star-yelpy dreams come true. Something clicked with the old Bacon and Butter to make it something great. I don’t necessarily know what that break was, but it happened, and I’m thankful for it. Here are my brunchy notes for you to soak up: The baked items from Nena aren’t just pretty pictures on their prolific instragram page — they are masterpieces that have come to life in the form of cinnamon rolls and churro donuts. I must admit — the old location, the old Bacon and Butter didn’t do much for me. The only thing I was impressed with was the Bloody Mary. Now, I find myself eating at a brand new restaurant and loving every bite. And hey, the Bloody Marys are still good. I’ve been here several times now, and I’m impressed by every visit. And, to just address the elephant in the room — yes — it’s worth the hour wait that you’ll sometimes be faced with. There are so many items that I can pick a part and tell you to nosh on – but I’ll just give you my menu highlights. Menu Gems include: Grilled Cheese Benedict Potatoes Fruit Plate(trust me on this) Cinnamon Roll or possibly any baked good that Nena makes. Bloody Mary(nice and spicy) French Toast Pork Hash You can’t get a better brunch place in Sacramento. It doesn’t exist. B&B is everything.

came here for brunch due to all the crazy good hype. worth it! bf had the chicken& waffle. unique concoction, they add these little orange thingies which idk if its oranges or apricots? bit overpowering but it DOES give taste to the meal. well balanced! i had the grilled cheese eggs benedict, SO delicious, cutting into the poached egg gave the whole meal that runny yolk flavor with the sauce they add. unfortunately i wont be getting it again ONLY bc it is SO filling. phew! but i DO recommend if you try, share it with someone. also had a rose water lemonade? something ive never tasted. and different, but i LOVED it. our server ashley k. was very sweet and knowledgeable. only down on our first trip was it took about 20mins for someone to pay attention to us and take our order but i guess ill let it slide. it was a tuesday and even it being around 1pm it was still pretty crowded. i will come back again and try something new, theres alot to choose from!

Took them only five minutes to deliver us our food after ordering. Kind and helpful staff. I will say that we came on a Tuesday afternoon and yet even on a Tuesday there’s a good crowd of people. That tells me this place is always busy, because it’s a great spot to eat in Sacramento. Me and my girlfriend came, I had the chicken and waffles, delicious! And my girlfriend had the grilled cheese Benedict. She loved it. Not to mention their beverage menu is on point! I had the b&b Lemonade and a lemon water, and my girlfriend really enjoyed her rose lemonade; very different type of refreshing taste. Overall we love this spot. Very affordable too, great scenery. Very hipster but a family environment at the same time. Highly recommended.

This place never seems to amaze me! Always delicious, always fresh, and outstanding service! My friend and I had a morning meeting that ended around 7ish, we had already put it in our heads that we were going to come straight here after the meeting just to avoid the line. Good thing we did. We arrived at 7:45am and there were already people parked out in their cars waiting for them to open. We decided to go ahead and stand in line since no one had, and then everyone else kind of followed suit. I kid you not, five minutes after we stood in line, and it was already wrapped around the parking lot. Everyone anxiously awaiting for this amazing place to open up and put deliciousness in our bellies! The best part was meeting some awesome people outside while we were waiting, and the staff would even arrive and said we will be opening soon, with excitement in their voices. Almost as if they could tell we were practically children at Disney awaiting our first ride ever… okay not that exciting but pretty darn close lol We were seated second, and were helped right away. Once we all lifted our heads from the menus the entire place was already jam packed with hungry foodies waiting to eat! Not to mention a long line still following behind everyone who had already been seated! This is my second time here, and I had the breakfast burger which was delicious along with a drink since the bartender is awesome at his trade. Fiancé had the bananas foster French toast, and his father had the biscuits wet. Everything looked good, everything tasted EXCELLENT! That burger was so juicy and the potatoes cooked to perfection. Cant wait to return!

I know I hyped up this place in my initial review and everything still stands, in terms of food and décor. The biscuit gravy sandwich and eggs benedict as well as the décor and service(waitress and waiters) are still as good. I went back recently and brought my other friends who haven’t tried this place yet on a weekend morning. We were all super excited and were prepared to wait as long as we did(an hour), so that wasn’t the problem. What WAS the problem was that when we finally got seated, we got seated on a counter, next to the kitchen and a highly trafficked narrow walkway. We were a party of 4 and most of the people that got seated at the counter were party of 2 or 3’s(logically so because seating a party more than 3 just doesn’t work). I looked around and there was a booth near us that was getting cleaned up so even before we were greeted and given menus, I walked up to the hostess and asked if we can grab that booth instead. She said no and that it was for the upcoming party… As far as I know you couldn’t reserve tables for parties of 7 or less, so I don’t understand why we weren’t able switch and get the booth, as we hadn’t even gotten our menu yet(plus, we were there first). I even saw some party of 2’s at a booth/table, so I just didn’t understand why we couldn’t get the table. So the whole meal, not only could we not turn our chairs to look at each other, we couldn’t even talk to each other because we would have to yelled over one another since the kitchen was right next to us. So basically, we just sat and ate in silence. It was the most awkward and probably worst dining experience I’ve had. All that to say, hostess and hosts, don’t ever seat a party of 4 at the counter; it just doesn’t work. I’m willing to wait, but not for this type of dining experience. (Side note: The pork hash was pretty unique of a breakfast plate and you should get it if you meat. The downside to this dish was that it was pretty bland. The only thing that was flavorful was the kale salad mix on top.)

One of the best breakfasts I have ever had. I’m not one for the american traditional breakfast and this is clearly not the place that rests breakfast into the hands of simple eggs, bacon and potatoes. Yes those ingredients are consistently found across the menu but never in a way that fails to elevate these ingredients to a greater culinary calling. Even the places who take a little spin on a benedict or steak and eggs have nothing on this establishment. Menu items are well thought out and deliver exemplary flavors in perfect harmony. Hi-Lites Include: bruleed grapefruit bananas foster french toast breakfast schnitzel pork butt hash hamhock omlette The menu is fairly short in length but covers an amazingly wide variety of flavor profiles. The bloody mary was good, with excellent flavors but I was disappointed in the taste of the vodka which I found out later was a low octane vodka impersonator. At the new location the wait is still fairly long, especially on the weekends. I suggest arriving as close to opening as possible. The parking can be tough as well. Just bring your patience and know that sometimes good things take a little extra time.

Came to Bacon & Batter with my sis and our boyfriend’s for breakfast before going hiking. It was a Friday mid-morning and this place was already pretty crowded. And I see why: B&B has a number of sweet and savory breakfast items to satisfy whatever you’re hankering for. My hands down favorite: Bananas Foster French Toast. I’m not even a huge banana fan, but it tasted amazing. Challah bread cooked perfectly, a moat of caramal sauce with a sprinkle of granola. The vanilla custard, the grilled banana. If you like a sweet breakfast, definitely order this. My bf got the grilled cheese benedict. He liked it okay, but I was kind of underwhelmed. I don’t know if I was expecting something cheesier, or what? Sis got the brussels & lardon, another fav of the morning. Roasted brussel sprouts, dressed with mustard with a poached egg on top and lardon(bacon!) tossed in. Yes, please! Sis’ bf got the the bacon & egg flapjack. Essentially pancakes with bacon cooked into it, with bacon infused syrup along with eggs. I never tasted any, but he finished it in record time. Service was great and very friendly. Price point was slightly higher than I would have expected(esp for the bacon and egg flapjack). I can only guess that the lines are insane on weekends for brunch, but I’d wait for that bananas foster. Will definitely return on my next Sac trip!

We went because of all of the raving reviews on Unilocal and we drove through morning traffic that took us 20 minutes to go 4 miles. So maybe that’s why our expectations were really high. Our breakfast wasn’t bad it just wasn’t crazy great great either. I had the kitchen sink at my waitresses suggestion and it was ok. The lardons were the best part but they are very salty even by bacon standards and I love salty btw. My poached eggs were cold and had a strong vinegar taste to them. I know you need vinegar to poach eggs but they shouldn’t taste like vinegar. My hubby has the bacon biscuits and gravy. They should put the bacon on top because they put in under the gravy and it makes the bacon soggy. Crispy laid on top would have been nice. Plus it makes it kind of messy to eat all covered in gravy. Just my own personal preference. The coffee was not my favorite. Kind of bitter which some people might like just not me. By all the great reviews maybe I just caught them on an off day. The ambience is really cool and has a cool hipster vibe which we enjoyed. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly and service was good. Parking was convenient in a lot located next to the restaurant.

When it comes to breakfast, it is crisp, intensely smoked bacon that turns my head. Second best is the rich, salty creamery butter that is spread generously and deftly over my toast while sauteing my eggs in the same. That gets me smiling. The debate goes on, should one choose heart healthy or not? Or, will you die younger but at least have a well lubed smile on your face? I know my answer. So when I discovered a place named Bacon and Butter, it most certainly called my name. But I have one problem. This casually trendy, well loved neighborhood diner barely made mention of the fact they also are the purveyors of some of the most tasty lardons to be found on a breakfast plate. Lardons are not bacon. They are the granddaddy of bacon. Smoky, thick yet tender chunks of the most prime piggy parts. At least, they are *here*. Introducing the Kitchen Sink: a huge ration of food consisting of those infamous lardons, lightly sauteed fresh spinach, jack cheese, caramelized onion, and thick cut mushrooms, all combined with perfectly crispy potatoes, then topped with a couple of buttery eggs. Now that’s a breakfast. And you’d better share because… You might want to indulge in the biscuits and gravy, too. Not your ordinary biscuit, this one is light and tender, mile high, and ever so much better than most. So perfect, you may need to drop your Yankee accent and brush up on your Southern. So, here are some tips: «Et». Meaning: to have eaten. Usage: «You done et yet? « “Drank». Meaning: to consume a liquid. Usage: «You want a drank of coffee?» Speaking of which, the coffee is excellent. They also serve likker. Then ther
