Amazing selection of books and everything you need for your spiritual side! I love this place. The smells, the sounds the people. It is one of my favorite place.

I half wanted to write this review to support and respond to the other reviewers who felt weirded out by the store. Much of my family is or has been Seventh Day Adventist, though I didn’t travel that road myself. I do too feel a little unwholesome whenever I go to an Adventist Book Center or other Adventist store. But hey, all the Adventists I’ve known are super friendly and they are not judging you when you buy your food. I promise. ABC is a *great* place to get lots of vege meat substitutes. I’m a huge fan of the Worthington chili, and I also love Fri Chik, Redi-Burger(which is more fully formed and can be fried like a patty), and the hot dogs. I can never remember which ones I like. I think it’s the vege links, and I’ll find out when I zip out there this afternoon before closing. I’m also a huge fan of any sliced vege meat made by Worthington or Morningstar. Also, I love dinner roast, which I always use at the holidays as a turkey substitute. The prices here are decent — much better, say than a heatlh store might be, with a good selection. I used to live in Fresno, and the one there in neighboring Clovis was bigger with better prices, but I’m definitely a fan here. And if you need some recommendations on some of the vege meats, feel free to ask the staff or customers who are there. I recommended chili to a guy there once — I hope he liked it!

I hope writing more reviews for this place will help keep it open, which will help keep my pantry stocked with yummy veggie foods for cheap. It was pretty deserted last time I went in and I hope their business keeps up. They have a lot of the same stuff at Elliot’s and other natural food stores, but it is much more affordable here! They have Loma Linda and Worthington and also a lot of frozen items that are hard to find. It can be a little spooky to go in because it feels a little dishonest — I’m not 7th day adventist, and I feel a tad like I’m ‘using them’ just for their food, but let’s be honest — I am! So thank you for your unusual religion, guys, because it keeps my tummy happy!

Most people don’t know this, but you can buy excellent vegetarian meat substitutes at extremely reasonable prices here. The ABC stores are owned by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church which had a «health message» as part of their doctrines. A lot of SDAs are still vegetarian. Anyway, there are some really tasty canned meat substitutes available here. My personal recommendations are: Veggie Skallops, Big Franks and Vegi-Burger. With the Vegi-Burger you’re going to want to add an egg if you plan to shape it into patties or anything like that. As far as the books, etc., um… really this is for people who are already SDAs or in a similar religion. Otherwise you will probably not be that into their reading selection.
