I have been to Ruby’s probably 20 times or so over the last almost ten years since it is near my home. During that time I’ve always had the same opinion which is that I wish the food was better since I like almost everything else about this place. The restaurant has a cool, «city like» vibe which is hard to successfully achieve in the suburbs. The service, which can be stressed at peak times like most restaurants, is friendly and professional. The food on the other hand, is very average, at typically high Rye prices. Ruby’s executes basic dishes like salads, breakfast items and the like pretty well but I’ve almost always been disappointed with their entrees. For example, recently I was very unimpressed with the gnocchi dish on the menu. The gnocchi were undercooked and the sauce was bland. If I wasn’t in a rush, I may have sent it back. After all of this time I should have known better than to order a dish like that here. If you want to come for the atmosphere it makes sense, but I would keep it «simple».

Gross place. I ate here two years ago, I just disliked the menu, and I vowed I would never go here again. Worst restaurant in Rye by far!

The seafood appetizers were fresh while the sole and sautéed shrimp entrees my wife and I had were both very good. Nice vibe and lively energy in the restaurant. The service was average at best(maybe it was just our waiter) but the quality of the food was good enough to make us want to visit again. Would recommend to our friends and neighbors in the WC area.

I want to love Ruby’s. It’s a beautiful space. The night that we went there the mood was festive. Everybody was having a great time. The waitstaff are lovely. My wife knocked over her nearly full glass of wine and someone was right on the scene to clean up and also replaced the wine without missing a beat. The cocktails are very good. The Achille’s heel of this place is the food. Our salads, appetizers and main course were all solidly«meh.» I tried the charcuterie plate and didn’t love it. I had the tuna BLT which was solidly OK. The rest of my party were unimpressed by their entrees. I would come back and spend an evening here in good company, but it isn’t on my short list when I think of a good meal.

The staff at Ruby’s is by far one of the friendliest and conscientious around. The inside of the restaurant reminds me of restaurants in Europe, cozy but pretty. The food is always good and I go at least a couple of times a month. Highly recommend for breakfast, lunch and dinner !

Customers since more than 10 years, used to be our favorite restaurant, but prices went up, everything else down! Not what it used to be anymore.

Boy, am I glad we found Ruby’s. Since we moved to the suburbs from NYC, we’ve struggled to find a restaurant with a solid raw bar. A coworker recommended we check our Ruby’s and FINALLY, we found ourselves in luck. Friday evening, about 6pm, and we easily secured a table in the open windows overlooking the sidewalk. The ambiance is classic French bistro, along with the tables in and outside. There were six different types of oysters to choose from and we tried two of each… all fantastic. In addition, their wines by glass weren’t incredibly plentiful in selection but all of them were very solid. I had an appetizer special of Maine steamers for my main course — a huge portion(along with a side of sauteed spinach) — and T went with scallop gnocchi(a variation on cioppino, with an incredible amount of fresh seafood.) Food, a total of three glasses of wine, an espresso, and a dessert knocked us back $ 200. NOT cheap. But, in my opinion, worth it in the end. To save money, I might order a bottle of wine next time and skip dessert but otherwise, everything else was a great value and seriously on point in it’s deliciousness. Ruby’s has claimed the status of «our place» in Westchester… too bad it took over two years for us to find it!

Visited with a friend at this gem close to the Rye train station and was impressed with the place. Firstly, their French Martini was delicious. It was a sweeter drink than I usually have but it was well balanced and refreshing on a hot summer evening. My friend ordered the fried oysters which were delicious, but I personally loved the buffalo cauliflower bites that I ordered. There was a very light breading on it and it was perfectly sauced. I had a salmon cobb salad for dinner which was very good… Salmon was cooked just right. I was also impressed with the service. My friend is lactose intolerant and when her dish arrived with cream, they pleasantly took it back and made her a new dish with just tomatoes. I’d be happy to return anytime I’m in Rye.

Had a rather forgettable brunch here. The waiter was exceptionally nice but the service was slow. We waited about twenty minutes after our drinks were served for our order to be taken, and the place was not even crowded. I’m still on my hunt for the best eggs benedict in the area. The poached eggs here were overdone, and therefore the yolk was not runny. That’s pretty much the most important part. There was also way too much ham, although I suppose maybe some people appreciate that. Overall this place is just average, but the ambiance and location are lovely.

I went to this restaurant with my boyfriend for our anniversary great place! We made reservations on open table they followed up and called me to confirm a few hours before. When we got there it was packed however we were seated right away. Ruby’s drinks were great I recommended ordering their Malibu Bay Breeze. The ticket time on food was great before we knew it our appetizer was out. The fried calamari is fresh and imported from CT seas which I enjoyed. All of the food is bought from local vendors which is great support local business! I thoroughly enjoyed this place and our waitress was friendly and attentive. I will definitely be going back to this place wonderful experience and the staff is attentive, friendly, and values your business.

Stay away. Very poor. Extremely expensive. The special had no crab and was loaded with just corn and that cost $ 34. I could not believe the check was $ 70 for one person. Restaurant needs a professional chef if they are going to charge those prices

Nice atmosphere. Came here with a party of 10 and they gave us 2 waiters. We were never left unattended longer than a few minutes, tho it was a Thursday evening at 7. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the swordfish and it was excellent! There was 1 fly and 1 gnat that I saw. Another review stated this was a concern, but they have the whole front of the restaurant open to the street where they also have outdoor seating. What I saw was not bad at all, considering that. Bill was $ 500, but we all had 2 drinks and got 4 apps for the table too.

Went here for an anniversary dinner and it was delicious. It is a pricier spot, but the oysters were fresh and a good variety. The entrée options were also delicious. We had the bouillabaisse and swordfish. Both were unique dishes I haven’t found on many other menus. It was also great to sit by the windows that were wide open — it was as if we were sitting outside. We will be back!

On a business trip and just had dinner here. All I could say is ‘blehhhh’. I was just by myself and ordered a glass of domaine Chandon brut champagne, a dozen raw oysters, escargot dish and a ruby’s salad. First gnats galore! And occasional visits by flies. Yuk. Then there was a small bowl of rock-solid frozen butter. Waited for 20 minutes and it was still rock solid. I practically shaved it little by little and gave up. I asked for a slightly melt butter and the lady brought another bowl of frozen butter. I could tell it was frozen so before she turned around, I tried to stick my knife into it. It wouldn’t budge and the lady nonchalantly said, ‘is it frozen too?’ while clearing my table by picking up the tray of oyster shells and escargot plate. I had finished two out of six escargots and she tried to take it away. I don’t know what she was thinking. Lastly the ruby’s salad. Blehhhh. Someone once mentioned that if I don’t know what to order at a restaurant try to order a dish that has the restaurant name in it. So ruby’s salad comes out and all I could say is ‘lack luster’. It was as if my Korean mom tried to put together ingredients she’s not familiar with on a dish. I managed to finish ¾ of it whole shooing away the gnats and flies with one hand. Won’t be returning here.

I selected this restaurant after reading the reviews on Unilocal. My party of four dined here tonight and we were so happy with the food and service. Shout out to our waitress Sabrina, she was a delight. We started with two dozen raw oysters that were a mix of East Coast and West Coast. Each were labeled and they were delicious. For dinner we had sautéed shrimp, BBQ scallops with short ribs, organic chicken and the Mahi Mahi. All were delicious, no doggy bags for us since we ate everything. We did leave room for dessert– peanut butter bomb and the fruit tart. I highly recommend this restaurant. Make a reservation because it gets packed.

I thought Ruby’s Oyster Bar was good for the most part but then I saw my bill. I paid $ 90.00 for lunch !! How is that possible? Granted we ordered the priciest dishes on the menu BUTSTILL! A casual lunch shouldn’t cost THAT much, right? Yes, we got the lobster sandwich and yes I got the tuna blt and YES damn it I got the crab cake, plus a couple of brews(lol) but c’mon man … I understand this is Westchester, but according to my taste buds, this lunch should have cost more like $ 50.00 not $ 90.00…

I was a huge fan of Ruby’s brunch! From what I can tell, there isn’t a bad item on the menu! They have fun specials, and huge list to choose from. It has a few tables outside, but inside is large, and it wasn’t very crowded when I was there(added bonus: they take reservations!) Absolutely a great place to check out!

Fresh bi-coastal oysters, amazing lobster roll meets gruyère grilled cheese and a great vibe. For what else can anyone ask? Perhaps a side of Lipitor?
