Custom Frame & Color

Wow! Came in today expecting to pay an affordable price for a frame and was shocked at the fee. We bought a nice painting earlier in the day for short change. Then dropped in here to find any nice frame. The picture is about 3-​ft wide by 2-​ft high. After standing for 15 minutes (with only one couple ahead), we asked for an opinion for a frame. The fella brought out several different ideas, none I had interest in. To get a price estimate, we simply picked one out. Five minutes later, came back with a charge over $ 400 for the frame and it’d take at least two weeks to order the frame. I was shocked at the high cost. About two years ago, I had two paintings same size and had a framer from Haverhill Mass do both for $ 200 total and that included matting. This place didn’t include matting.
It’d be cheaper for me to go to a lumber yard, buy the wood and route out myself than spend over $ 400 here.
The temperature outside was near 80 degrees and inside with no windows open, it was hot with a small fan blowing. The air smelled stale and like cigarettes.
We won’t be returning.
