This wasn’t what I expected. It’s not a upscale steak house. It’s a wonderful neighborhood Restaurant with Bar, that’s been there for 50+ years and owned by the same family(was told). The service we got from Catlin(sp) and Robin was great. It was cute that the wine list wasn’t updated, especially with a nice house wine for $ 3.75. Great Steak and enjoyed the salad bar(though it’s minimal).

I passed the place countless times in my visits to the Four Paws Kingdom campground nearby and last week, prompted by all the great reviews finally had dinner here and now I’m kicking myself for all the times I missed. Started with a complimentary cup of fish stew, moved on to half a dozen oysters on the half shell and then had the porterhouse medium and it was all perfect. If I had to offer one criticism it would be that the veggies were a little mushy but who cares? Terrific atmosphere and service and the prices are incredibly reasonable. Love this place.

Wow I totally forgot they had fresh oysters on the half shell! Can you say close by? Can you say regular customers? They are fresh and they are awesome! Had a specialty drink the Breeze, rum, banana liqueur, triple sec and something something and pineapple juice. Pretty good, second one gave me a little heartburn. We had the combo fish plates with scallops, shrimp, blackened flounder. Dinners come with two sides, I had broccoli with cheese and baked potato also comes with hush puppies. Not a bad amount of food for$ 16.99. Fish tasted fresh and was well seasoned. This is not a fancy place but a nice place that the locals love. Good food at decent prices with pretty good seafood.

We lived in Rutherford County for 18 years before moving to California in 2010. We didn’t discover Scoggins until the last three years there. I am so glad we did and miss it like crazy. My husband loves steak and there was no better place than Scoggins. Where can you find a 22 once, freshly cut Porterhouse for less than $ 25.00 bucks. Their drinks were good, and their dill sauce and peppers and onions are delicious. Wish I could get someone to ship a couple of steaks and sides, I would love it!!!

Decent seafood and steaks, pretty good salad bar. You’ve had better food, but this will do in a pinch. Full bar is a bonus. Fun place to show real down-home North Carolinians to my out-of-state friends.

your average fried everything seafood place. they do offer baked and broiled items. the hamburger steak is better than the seafood. decent salad bar. they serve alcohol. they have been in business in the same location for 40 plus years, so they must do something right.

We went here based on positive votes; don’t make the same mistake. The service was average, and the food was very mediocre. There were seven of us, and not a single person was satisfied with their meal. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to eat.
