Don’t eat their chips and salsa that come to your table. It is well known that they reheat the leftover chips in basket and serve again. I would not recommend eating here. But they do have several locations all over Ruston, west monroe, and monroe.

This food here is awful! It’s an insult to mexican food! I thout all Mexicans know how to cook mexican food! The salsa is very bland, taste like tomato sauce! Tables and menus was very nasty with dried up food on it, so gross! Not authentic mexican food at all!!! We was overcharged because the waiter was bouncing from tables to tables(as if he was the only waiter)! On top of that somehow mysteriously someone filled out a tip on my receipt without my knowledge! After the fact that we left a tip on the table! The only way I knew about this is when I checked my transaction! So please check your transaction from there if you’re paying with a credit card! Omg…and the waitress only knew certain words in english! She answered yes to everything! So annoying, why send someone to your table who don’t understand you! It seem like to me that they care more about a dollar than the customer services! This place should close the doors because of the bad food, unsanitary, and bad customer services! Yuck, yuck, and yuck!

There are 3 locations of this restaurant in Ruston. This one was the 2nd to open. Food isn’t bad. Tastes like your average tex-mex. Decent chips and salsa. Always crowded. Fairly cheap if you take your family.

Place was great! Our sever Joe was amazing. One of the best servers I’ve had at any restaurant ever. Very attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. I’ll request him next time we come back. We had the single combination fajitas. The amount of food was unreal. We had plenty for dinner and leftovers for home. The steak was fabulous. Price was reasonable, and the food very well prepared. Would recommend this place for Mexican food anywhere around.

I dined at the one near RELAXINN. this place should close its doors for good. FIrst of all salsa tastes like canned tomato sauce NOT real salsa with fresh jalapenos, tomatoes, cilantro, garlic and limes The margarita are flat and have a terrible artificial taste most likely from bottled sours mix. Real mexican places use REAL lime or lemon juices I have a combo dinner and nothing was tasty. Sorry to say the beans, rice, enchiladas, tacos or anything was decent. I tasted rancidity too. Beware POOR sloppy service and dirty menus… If you are in SHreveport, my hometown, Try NICKIES. they have outstanding food service and drinks. El Jarrito is loud, crowded and not comfortable dining and expecting a nice quiet evening. It is so loud and tables are so close that It is distracting… I guess they cram tables in there to make more money. Boycott this DUMP

This place wasn’t THAT bad… atleast not to deserve 1 stars. However, it is 3 stars by comparison to other places in Ruston — not in comparison to other Mexican places in bigger cities or that are more authentic. This place is brightly colored and tropical with leaves and such painted throughout. The menu is extremely affordable, with lunch plates being about $ 5. The food was large enough to be more than filling. It was on the bland side I guess but it wasn’t too bad, I ate everything. And I’ll probably go back one of these days.

If you’re used to authentic Mexican food, don’t come here for Mexican food. The food is bland and it’s more like Tex-Mex but not. Also a bug climed onto my foot while eating. I almost freaked the hell out but just paid and left. Will never return ever again.
