Deceptive Business Model This place is known for its mark downs and sales. There is always a clearance rack present in almost every section thereby giving the consumer the impression that he’s getting a good deal. But he’s not. Here’s how it works. Start off with outrageous prices for mediocre merchandise. This gives the consumer the impression that this is high end merchandise. Then periodically have sales with big mark downs. At times you might find something marked down as much as 80%, but 20% to 50% is more common. This creates the impression that the consumer is getting a good price. So you think you’re getting an $ 80 shirt that’s marked down to $ 40 thereby creating the impression of a bargain. If a consumer thinks he’s getting a bargain on high end merchandise, then, it is believed, he’ll keep coming back. The only problem is that’s not an $ 80 shirt. It might be a $ 25 or $ 30 shirt and more likely a $ 15 shirt. With respect to the merchandise, it’s no better than the Walmart that is located about a mile away.

It’s a pretty good department store. Has all the necessary items you could need for your home and family. The prices are average and about compatible to Ross or TJ Maxx. The clothing styles are conservative so you won’t find anything trendy.

It’s a decent department store. I tend to come here when I visit Mom. So when I ask where she wants to go, she says Beall’s. She likes shopping here. The store is well lit, has wide enough aisles, and plenty of bargains. Mom finds clothes that she likes. She has bought shoes, slacks, and tops on our visits. The staff is helpful, friendly, and patient. There is plenty of parking space.
