So this was our second trip this summer to the campsite and it was great again. The camp host named Marshal and Mindy are the best. The water was great and the whole family had a great time. The hot showers are a added bonus when you are camping for a couple of days.

My Fiancée and I have camped here a few times over the years, and the new camp hosts have really done a good job keeping this place friendly. It’s a great old fashioned campground, and as long as you respect the rules, the hosts are great. We camp with a large group of friend spread out over 10 or so sites, and plan to be back next year to do it all again.

This is a well run park. Clean and well maintained. Jessie the park manager and his wife Debbie run a strict campground that expects everyone to respect eachother. If you stay quiet after 10 and keep your campground clean you will have no problem. The river is beautiful and fun. We stayed for four days. Three of them river rafting. We also went to the Cache Casino which is 15 min. away. It is beautiful and clean. The spa is great with full access to the pool all day with a massage. Totally worth the trip with great friends. Some tips: cell phones don’t work, bring yellow jacket traps(lots around), mosquito spray and citronella candles, bring extra river rats(we destroyed 4), life jackets are a must, extra hats because you will lose at least one. Have fun!

Floating and drinking and watching river rafters capsize all day = epic fun. And we did just that… for hours and hours and it never got old. Oh, and it’s only $ 6/car for the entire day. Win.

t Cache Creek Canyon Regional Park– You make reservations through the county and the cost is $ 25 per site for 8 ppl and 2 cars.$ 2 per day for dogs and $ extra for car. SITES– Amaxinly CLEAN grassy with table and fire pit and grill. All the necessities you need. Sites are very very roomy. We put 2 tents but you could easily put 2 to 4 more. Not sure how much they charge extra. They are close so dont expect being in the wilderness alone. RIVER– when the park is full the sandy beach is CROWDED. «Per the other comments ». There is a ton of room for water play for everyone.“ Maybe on a mid day but as soon as Saturday came it was CROWDED”. Also end of day many left their disgusted trash. No park control there so lots of drinking and very crowded. If you are adults you can swim out from the beach but beachside is very crowded. Dogs can’t go on beach area but you can walk down but along the river is sort of murky. Maybe if you walked further it would be better or drove on the road you might find better areas. DOGS– Majority of sites had 2 even 3, YES3 dogs per site. All were very well behaved. Didnt hear barking or Unilocaling. SHOWERS– None but if you are in the river call that a shower. They have a dump station which is not meant for showering but the Park Patrol said he can’t shower but ppl do so go ahead. Odd rules. I guess at night time I might sneak over and do a quick body rinse and wash my hair but not a full spa shower treatment like some ppl were doing. CELLPHONE — None unless you go back to Cache Creek Casino about 20 minute drive PARKPATROL– Guy is super nice and efficient. Drives around the entire day so if you need help he is around. He will tell you that he will keep the noise control at 10:00 and dogs on leashes. Sell fire wood for $ 5 per bundle which can do one a.m. fire and maybe 2 bundles for night. It was not that cold we only burned 1 bundle at night ICECREAMTRUCK– YES he comes through about 4 times per day and sells ice cream for about $ 2 – 3, ice bags and cans of soda.

My family and I go camping at Cache Creek Canyon Regional Park once a year around the end of July to early August. We have a group site that allows 30 people, but we have stretched it to 60! Can you imagine? Well, the site has picnic tables, a play ground, bbq pits, and grassy area for the camp sites. If you walk a couple minutes down the hill, there is the Cache Creek River. There is a ton of room for water play for everyone. We bring our own inner tubes and life vest, and ride down the river rapids at our own risk. Sometimes we drive up the river and ride a couple of miles down, or just walk up a bit and do a quick ride. Beware of the rocks and rapids… If you don’t get off in front of the campsite beach, it’s a long ride down. Most people do the rafting trips but we’ve never tried them. The only downside to this campsite is they don’t have any showers, but nothing wrong with bringing a jug of water and some soap to wash down in the hot sun! Temperatures reach the high 90’s to low 100’s around that time, and no cell phone service in Rumsey, CA. If you want to get away from home to enjoy the great out doors, this is the place!

I’ve been going here since 1982 or 1983… basically since I was an infant. Caught my first fish there at the main camp grounds beach. Drank my first beer there as a teen… messed around with girls, shot bb guns, enjoyed campfires, stared at the millions, and millions of stars!!! But best of all enjoyed the sun, and the amazing rafting! This place has tons of memories for me, I go back every summer because I love it!!! I love to get ice cream at the mickey mouse store down in Guinda and just chill on the wooden sidewalk. It just has that nostalgic feel, I love to check out their poloriods of «prized catches» because I love fishing, and although the photos never change I still love to check ‘em out because it reminds me of when I was a kid, and dreaming of the day I would luck out and get the big catch, and my photo would be up there on that wall of fame!

Here’s the deal… if you like fun in the sun with a sense of adventure tossed in the mix, then there is no better place to go rather than this river. Upper Cache Creek is only 2 hours from SF. Only TWO hours! There are two main companies working as campsites and tour guides… Cache Canyon Whitewater Rafting and Whitewater Adventures. Read reviews for those businesses. In the end, the beauty of nature contrasts well with the violent nature of the rapids. Just as a blaring music dance party with smoke, bubbles, and glow sticks(rave on dude haha) contrasts with the eerily dark surrounding wilderness all around. If you want to experience the great outdoors, there is no better location than this river and the surrounding woods mainly because it’s ONLY accessible via the unforgiving river and not a single building in site.
