This place is ok, if your crazy about a brewery. I mean give me a corana and im good, ordered nachos and wings cost me 30 dallors. Nothing special, ordered chicken on the nachos and got like 5 skittle size peices lol that tasted old. There is so many other good places tho it is lowkey and nice setting.

We found The Royal Oak Brewery on accident, we were spending the night pouncing around Downtown Royal Oak. We only had drinks and appetizers, so I can’t comfortable give this 5 stars, but, the experience that we had with our condensed exposure was awesome. The atmosphere is cool, it’s warm, and their take on the beer menu is neat and something I haven’t seen before, you should check that out. The service was awesome and we were never kept waiting, and they were very busy. The Queso Con Carne was unbelievably good, so good, that we had 2 of them. This is definitely a place worth visiting if you are in the area.

Tomato soup bisque and grilled cheese. That and their beer selection, is all you need in life at this restaurant. Food is ALWAYS delicious and hot. Service is always great. Perk is that sometimes they even will have the game on! Go forth.

Delicious beer and a giant food menu. Not very vegan friendly. The staff was really great and food came out quickly and as ordered. The ambiance leaves a bit to be desired.

After a visit to the Detroit Zoo for«Wild Lights», a group of friends and I decided to stop in for a bite to eat before heading home. This is not my first experience with ROB, in fact, I was the one who suggested the place. The food has always been good, so I had high hopes. The restaurant wasn’t super packed, but there was a pretty good amount of customers for a Sunday night at 9. Three of the group had various beers, which they appeared to be pleased with. Our waitress was nice and our food came out in good time. I noticed that another Unilocaler stated that they were disappointed in the lack of change on the menu… I wasn’t «disappointed» in this per se, but I was kind of hoping that there might be at least a few changes to it in the months past. Maybe next time? I decided to go with what I had at my last visit, which was the chicken tostada. It was just as good as I remember, albeit just a touch salty for my taste. My review would have had one more star added to it, if it hadn’t been for the extremely long wait time to get our checks at the end of the meal. Like, I mean uncomfortably long. We asked for a few boxes for leftovers, which were brought out promptly but then it was like our waitress had suddenly disappeared. We saw her a few times go around to the other tables, but never stopped back at ours to ask us if we were ready for the bills. Ultimately, we had to flag her down to ask for our checks — I was just kind of confused because she was so good up until this point. And there were only a few other tables left by then, so it couldn’t have been because she was THAT busy. I wish Unilocal had a half star option because I would even do that, but the wait time at the end of the meal was way too long to warrant adding back an entire star: l

Stop 2 in our recent two-person Royal Oak bar crawl. Two words: Korean Tacos. Holy shit, these are good!!! Get them. Do it now.(Bring me one please) Their beers were good, and they do flights. 5 fair-sized pours for $ 8.50.

Decent selection for a brewery. Service was quick and everything came exactly as ordered aside from a couple mistakes during the many rounds of drinks. We had a table of 20 so really the service was wonderful. The entrees were what you should expect from a bar.

ROB… What is happening with you!!! I was looking forward to a visit with you, and since it had been a while, I was very excited to see what had changed since the last time I was there… and then when I walked in and I found the beer to be the same, the guest taps had of course changed… but then the food… the FOOD… that you guys always took pride in changing and keeping fresh with new things, hasn’t changed at all. This time when I was there, I felt like I was almost going to regret what I was ordering, because it wasn’t as good as what I wanted to get. I don’t know ROB. you used to have this great flair about yourself… but now it’s kinda going back on itself. And, one other little thing that annoys the crap out of me.(personal rant) Your large nacho plate is tasty for multiple people. However, the only topping that is always avaliable on it is cheese. Not enough sour crème, guac, jalapenos, or salsa. So every time we order it, we need to get more sides of those items. And then you hit us with charges for the sides. That’s just aggravating. If the nachos would have been made so that it was on most of the nachos, there wouldn’t be a need for it. So yeah, I’m going back on my review from 2 years ago. They have definitely taken a step or two back…

All their food is delicious! I haven’t ordered anything from here that I did not thoroughly enjoy. Their salads are great, and I usually don’t care for salad. I suggest the Santa Fe chicken salad or the blackened steak salad. The burgers are huge and yummy. Beyond their fabulous food, the beer selection is on point.

I live within walking to downtown Royal Oak and the Fourth Street Brewery has always been a favorite go to for me and my friends. I’m talking 15 years. The beer is great, the food good and a lot of the wait staff have been there for years and are wonderful! Sadly I was there last weekend with an out of town friend. We ordered some beers and the nachos. We always get the nachos extra well done and without onions. When our order came out, the nachos had onions and we had specifically asked to have them made without. The waitress took them back. Out came the manager. She said we could not send back food because it isn’t prepared the way we want it! She recognized that we were long time patrons, but they have different cooks and things are sometimes made a little differently. I explained that we did not eat onions and she said she thought they weren’t well-done enough for us. They weren’t, but that is not the main reason why we were sending them back. I have eaten the nachos plenty of times wishing they were as well-done as we had asked for them. She was so rude. She wouldn’t let it go and kept going over her point. Which was? The customer can’t order food to be made without onions or ordered well-done! The place was busy and it was embarrassing to say the least. We got our food(without onions) and she came back out to see how they were. She was still trying to prove her point and gave no apology! Even though, I gave the waitress a 25% tip but sadly, my favorite«go-to» place has been put on my «never» go to list. All over a pile of chips…

Good old brewery, beer selection was good however the cider from Vander mill was no good. I wish that they had a better cider mill cider on tap. The service was good. The menu looked interesting however very generic basic bar food. Would give it another shot. Also do not order the wine here its not good at all which I guess I should have known going into a beer bar.

Came here for a coworker’s going away lunch. We sat down on the back patio, and had a great server. I had the beer cheese soup it was on point. The texture was so smooth and the taste was delicious. I ordered the Korean tacos, and so glad I did. I based my choice off of other Unilocal reviews and it didn’t disappoint. Packed with a light kick in the Asian slaw, the sweetness of the bulgogi tacos helped balance it out. Definitely a new favorite eatery in town, and the Red on tap was my favorite beer!

Everything about this place was just OK. The waitress took awhile to wait on us. The IPA was just OK-nothing stood out about it. The Buffalo Bistro Chips were OK. Half of the chips were loaded with toppings and some of the other half were plain. The chips became soggy and chewy instantly. It wasn’t very good. This isn’t a place I would frequent often, there are much better places to visit in the area.

These pulled chicken tostadas with their side corn salsa from royal oak brewery is where it’s at. Amazing flavor with a great kick of heat! I love sitting on their back patio after work with one of their summer brewed beers. Head on over for your lunch break, you won’t leave hungry I promise!

Why is this place open? The food is sooo lame ! The prices are high and that’s why the place is empty. I had salad the chicken was dry and old. A skimpy quesadilla with once again old chicken $ 27,52 with two teas Yea no thanks. Can’t like this place sorry.

My wife and I have been here a few times on lunch with a coworker. The prices are reasonable for, what I believe, is good quality and portions. This past time I ordered the siracha chorizo pizza on wheat. My wife got the grilled cheese and our friend got a different pizza. My pizza was great, and I was surprised at the crust for being wheat-based. It wasn’t too spicy, but had some heat, and the cilantro made it taste fresh. My wife loved her grilled cheese and fries, and our friend also liked her pizza. Service was also friendly, and we enjoy sitting in the back patio/open area and relaxing under the umbrellas or sitting in the sun.

I expected there to be a wait as I went there at prime dinner time on the weekend, but we were promptly seated. The décor is pretty standard for a pub/brewery. We were able to sit outside on the patio, and it was very relaxing. They have fans and a gazebo that provides some shade against the sun. I had the wit beer here, and while I wouldn’t say it was a true to character wit, I will say that it was a very enjoyable light summer beer. I also got the Santa Fe Chicken Salad for food and was pleasantly surprised. I will note that it said the chicken was grilled, but I couldn’t pick up on that. The pieces were small cut, cold, and a little dry. Overall though I still very much enjoyed the salad. My date also enjoyed his beers and his Parmesan chicken sandwich with fries. This is a solid place if you aren’t looking for anything revolutionary.

It was ok, I’ve been here a couple of times and will probably go back. It’s a good, casual choice. Now why only 3 stars? It used to be «the cool place» it seems, now the management seems to be cutting the wrong corners… Wait staff and thus the service is very dive-bar if you know what I’m trying to say. Most house brews were simply out and the three selections that were left were not up to my taste. Food was just fine, while about 3 years ago there, I have had the most amazing burger ever. If you have no comparison with their old ways, you will probably really like it

Dropped in for the Summer Concert Series on a Wednesday night. Been hearing the music playing from 3 blocks away for the past several weeks, finally found out that it was coming from here and came to check it out. Great backdrop while enjoying a beer. Didn’t have any food as I came after dinner, but I’ve been here before a couple times and the food was great, try the jambalaya. 4 stars b/c of the great live music, would definitely choose to come back on a Wednesday night instead of the standard Royal Oak fare. Had the suicide blonde, strong fruity ale, would recommend. The blueberry cider was ok, bit on the sour side, but ok. Bill: $ 3 – 7 per person for beer

I love craft brews and bar food. Just saying. So of course I was gonna like it here! And I did! One thing I noticed about the Royal Oak/Ferndale area(as a now«regular» visitor) is the preponderance of good beer places! And breweries! I just love that! I know I’ll always have some fun place to go! Count me in as a repeat customer at Royal Oak Brewery! Yum! I’ll go back anytime! Nice atmosphere, great looking bar, pleasant server(I forget her name but she’d only been there a short time — she was excellent!). And great beer! Perfect start! We ordered the black and white dip(black bean and asiago cheese) and loved it. The asiago part was spectacular! We also got the pretzels and they were surprisingly tasty! Sometimes places just mail it in on pretzels but not so here. They were soft and delicious! I always order draft beer and they had a reasonable selection of their own brew. I went with the Royal Pride IPA and loved it enough to order a second. If I weren’t so darned«responsible», I might have ordered a third… But I’ll be back. For dinner I had the Jambalaya — a risky choice to be sure. But they really pulled it off! Or course without crawfish it really can’t be legit, but it did have tasty shrimp, andouille sausage, chicken and a little spice. I had to heat it up a bit but it was tasty! My plate was clean! My wife ordered the Voodoo curry with the scallops, sausage, peppers, onions, and okra. I had a few bites of that and liked it too! I would definitely consider this as a legitimate consideration when looking for a dinner place! I understand the need to cycle thru the brews as their brewing process proceeds but I would have liked to see more that just the single IPA on tap. Perhaps it was just timing. But you can bet I’ll be back. And I’m looking forward to it!
