Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza

Okay here’s the thing, I like this place and I like the pizza… But they don’t have the A team working… Ever. A lot of employees standing around and talking … Taking their time to do everything. Every time I’ve been up here they have been talking to friends who are in the store or other employees who are not working who have come up to the store and are behind the counter out of uniform. Sometimes there is a shortage on the toppings and instead of refilling an employee will scrape the bottom of the container and the bathroom never has soap. I do have to give credit because the gluten free pizza is always very good and I’ve never had a contamination issue. Everyone there knows what’s up with food allergies. I’ll consider changing my review if I see an improvement in the staffing quality… Just needs a step up to match how good the pizza is.

Went here on a Friday night and could not stop laughing with the staff. They were very personable and helpful as this was my first experience at a build-​your-​own pizza spot. They had no problem answering my many questions and loaded my pizza with extra toppings.
Not sure if I enjoyed the staff or the pizza more but I am looking forward to going back soon.

Bad. Soggy crust. Literally a completely soggy crust on both pizzas. Salad was incredibly average. I was looking forward to giving this place a try. The staff was friendly, but highly unorganized. The cashier took my debit card and just walked off with it? Huh? WTF??? I cancelled it just in case but please!!!
I may try again to see if I just had a bad pizza, but my daughter’s was exactly the same. So disappointed.

Good pizza but prefer the Novi location. I’ve been to this location a few times already and I do not care to go back. The service in RO can be sloppy and frantic. The food station is not very well kept. Last time I was there, I lost my appetite.

The whole concept it’s great. You pick out your crust. Then your cheese and then your toppings. You can build your own pizza with unlimited toppings. Plentiful selection of meats, cheeses, veggies, sauces and finishes.
They also have a list of signature pizzas (hint: the BBQ chicken pizza taste pretty dang good!)
I opted for a simple one topping pie– gluten free crust ($ 2 up charge) with classic red sauce and pepperoni. I like to keep it easy as pie (ha! get it?!)
They didn’t have gluten free crust made so they had to make some. The pizza makers mingled a lot and were rather slow. Line built up fast.
Food was delicious. A little burnt on some spots but still good.
Take out boxes are near the fountain pop station. Open late!

Man do I love this place. Never had a bad meal here. You stand in line Subway style and tell them what you’d like on your pizza, they make it and it goes right in the oven. 5 – 7 mins. later you’re eating pizza. It’s great! Extra points for have both shredded and fresh mozzarella and whole garlic. Always get a take out box even if you’re eating in. It just makes things more manageable.

This was my first time at blaze last night! The veg pizza was awesome!
However, the gentleman cooking my pizza was very rude and grumpy, hence my 4 out of 5 star rating.
I’ll give it another go in the future, but grumpy employees are a real turn off for me! If I had encountered him when I initially ordered my meal I would’ve gone elsewhere for my sustenance!

My friend Stephen described this perfectly when he said «this place is Chipotle for pizza.» You go in, choose your sauce/​toppings, and they fire it right there for you. For $ 7.25, you really can’t complain!

Good pizza. Build your own to your liking for $ 7.25. Fresh toppings. Ryan was helpful with some coupons I had and recommendations on their best pies. Pretty happening even on a weds night.

Yummy! Loved this pizza! Got mine made to order and they got it perfect! Restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. The area around the place was nice and had a cool atmosphere.

This place used to be awesome. Fast service, good thin crust pizza, friendly and good customer service. The past year however, that hasn’t been the case. The service has slowed to a crawl. Employees do not handle food in a sanitary fashion (changing garbage and rushing to make a pizza order, handling money and handling pizza).
Employees do not seem to want to give a good customer service experience and make telling them things you would like special on your pizza difficult. I have repeatedly ordered 2 pizzas and had to fight with them to give me my second pizza because they say I only ordered one. I have gotten pizza here that was not fully cooked and as I write this I realize 2 stars is too generous. They had great staff, I don’t know what happened.

My first time here would have resulted in a 1 star rating. Luckily, I came back a few times before rating.
Staff: very friendly, but SUPER SLLOOWWWW… Like even slower than that. I mean grass grows faster than they may pies. Bury a a lump of coal simultaneously, and it will turn into a diamond before you get a pie. Need I say more. But the reason they are slow, us because they are all very personable and friendly. I found if annoying first few visits. The they remembered me, and guess what, I became one of the reasons they are slow. Not sure it’s a fair trade off, but they are nice.
Food: it took a few tries to get the ingredients right. But once you figure our which ingredients go best together, it’s a breeze. As for quality, how good can Sicilian style pizza be? If you like it, this is good. If you don’t, this is just like the rest.

Wow what an experience. This ranks as top 5 worst customer service experiences. So a young lady prepared my pizza, that went fine. Then the guy who was supposed to cook my pizza says «don’t know who is gonna make that, I’m off.» He proceeds to clock out and leave. Leaving me at the register money in hand, confused. Well not really leave, he actually he came back inside to hand a cigarette to another employee. The same employee who then handles my pizza without washing his hands. So finally a girl comes out to ring me up, she apologizes and says she was in the back talking to the manager. Manager?!? You need to be out front watching your employees!
So the pizza is done just moments later, ironically the woman who ordered after me, her pizza is done first. Cigarette boy now cuts my pizza with the same cutter he used on hers without cleaning it. So now I’m watching her toppings fall onto my pizza. It should be noted that the only reason I came here is because the offer gluten free pizza. So at this point my pizza is contaminated and I’m not eating it. Good thing it was cheap or I would be furious.
In addition to the utter lack of care from the employees the place was dirty. The counter space where they cut the pizza was disgusting. The floors were gross also, trash everywhere. I will not be coming back.

Mediocre tasting pizza was easily overwhelmed by poor management if customer’s orders. Cleanliness and organization is not a priority of the staff as boxes and pizza pans were falling over. Most of the toppings were mixed with other toppings due to mishandling. One worker was listening to music on her headphones while customers were telling her their order. A trainee went straight from sweeping the back room to boxing pizzas without washing hands.

Blaze is one of those places that I wish I didn’t love as much as I do. Because I get it way too often. The best way to think of it is as a Subway for thin crust pizza. For around $ 7 you can build your own pizza with any toppings you want to. Dirt cheap and you never leave hungry. They have great hours and are open late during the week.
Maybe the best part about blaze is their 4am closing time which allows drunk food possibilities. The line can get very very long however, so be prepared to wait.
The only negative I have encountered about this place is the employees occasionally screwing up my order immediately after I told them what to put on my pizza. Not a big deal, but it has happened more than once.
Overall: If you are in a hurry to get some good thin crust pizza built your way this is where you want to go.

Convenient location, easy online ordering, quick service, cheap, delicious pizza. If any of those words appeal to you, this is the place to go for a quick fix. Is this your new pizza destination place? I would say no. Supino’s and Crispelli’s are still the top in my opinion. But, if you are eating for one and love to build your own pizza, you should definitely check it out. For $ 7.25, you get unlimited toppings on your pizza. But, be forewarned. The more toppings you put on it, the pizza is likely to get soggy from them, but I don’t mind. The toppings are all great in my opinion (artichoke, basil, peppers, mushrooms, Italian sausage, pineapple (from a can but still fine), but I would not recommend the roasted garlic unless you like crunchy raw garlic. I thought it would be melt in your mouth roasted garlic that spreads like butter. It is not.
Also, make sure your pizza is not burnt! I have been here three times and the bottom was very burnt one time.
This place gets pretty busy especially around lunch time, so order online. You do need to wait a few minutes for them to freshly fire the pizza, but still beats the line.
Definitely worth a try!

I’m a fan, but orderer beware of toppings. I ordered the white top pizza no bacon and light sauce which was delicious, but the other 2 people I was with ordered the red vine with spicy sauce (which had too much sauce) and the build your own (which was piled high with way too many toppings). Make sure to order light toppings!
Love that they have outdoor seating. A beautiful summer day in MI made better with pizza.

This place is amazing — feel free to pile up meats and veggies on your pizza, and don’t forget about the spinach and pesto after it has been fast fired!
The staff is friendly, the pizzas are shareable, and I am definitely returning.

i really enjoy blaze pizza. I really do. Good prices. Fresh vegetables. etc etc. But the last few times (actually more than a few-​probably close to 5) I have been there the service has been HORRIBLE. Orders totally wrong (like leaving sauce off pizza), bad attitude (I am looking at your pizza oven guy that was on his cell phone the whole time), orders placed ahead of time that are NEVER ready to be cooked when you walk in, the list goes on.
It makes me sad — because like I said I do like their Pizza — but I have a very limited time for lunch and I know if I am going to pick up a pizza at this location I have to commit a good amount of time due to the lackluster service. Its almost a joke now — when my coworkers see me with a blaze pizza box they ask «what went wrong this time».
There was a super nice manager that was always in the store when they first opened. You never really see him anymore — maybe management is the problem? I don’t know but it needs to be fixed. People are generally pretty pissed when they are waiting for their pizza because something tends to be going wrong.

Just plowed through my first dinner at Blaze and I’m still basking in the afterglow of their unique thin crust that left me feeling full but not fat. As a customer, you’re in full control of your destiny here as they lace your pizza right in front of your face with dozens of toppings, cheeses and sauces to choose from. So if your pizza sucks, you suck at ordering as well as life.
Despite what the reviews say, this is not the best pizza around or even Royal Oak for that matter but it is a tremendous deal at $ 7.25 because you can add as many toppings as you want. You read that correctly. Theoretically, you could have them put 47 different toppings on your pizza for the same price that a two topping would cost. Combine that with how quickly the wood stoves bake your creation and you have a pizzeria that changes the game.
I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the crust because it wasn’t flavorful or substantial in texture. Regardless, I was pleased with the quality and freshness of the toppings. My grilled chicken, italian sausage, bacon and garlic selections formed a sensual bond with the spicy marinara and they laid together in the same bed to form a fantastic orgy with the parmesan and mozzarella cheese that showed up as a couple.
The fontography throughout the interior was eye catching and the overall design, open environment and array of seating options added to the experience. Dining here was a joy and the setting is perfect whether you’re by yourself or with a group. They also have a patio. Of note was Karl who cooked my pizza and was friendly, patient and very outgoing with a wonderful attitude. I also had a great conversation with one of the staff members who was dutifully cleaning around my tables so a huge thumbs up to the staff at Blaze Royal Oak. They keep it clean, fast and fresh and for that they deserve my repeat business.
