Affordable Flowers

Don’t go in on the weekend if you’re looking to get a flower arrangement or any sort of help. My fiancé waited almost 10 minutes for a person to come out front. Then was told that no designers were in on Saturdays and she could not put something together, my fiancé couldn’t put something together, so her only option was pre-​arranged carnations for a ridiculous price. It came to the point the girl suggested to just take her business elsewhere. Which is exactly what my fiancé did.

I was going to see a Christmas orchestra with gf at the Fox Theater and we decided to get dressed up, so I thought it would be nice to surprise here with a corsage. I ordered it on the phone day before and gentleman was actually quite helpful, asking the color of dress the lady would be wearing, whether I preferred the wrist or pin variety, and when I said wasn’t quite sure, he said he would make it so it could be worn either way. He initially suggested 3 flowers, but then asked about her build, and decided that 3 flowers might be a bit much for a person with smaller wrists if she decided to go that way– which is the way she did decided to wear it. And he was right, 3 flowers would have been too much.
What I received the next day was lovely. Roses so nice they almost didn’t look real with a baby’s breath back ground that looked just as good. The woman who was working when I arrived was also very friendly. Like most of us, I have had flowers delivered before and been less than impressed, and this was not the case here. I have given her various flowers in the past and can’t say I received the reaction I did from this corsage. After the concert when she took it off and put it my kitchen table, I would not have been the least bit offended it sat there for me to dispose of the next day. We’re both fairly practical people and it had served it’s purpose, it’s not like it was commemorating some significant event or like you’re going to take it home and put it in a vase– but she liked it so much she made a point of taking it home and even said something about it the next day.
The one caveat I’ll throw in that probably won’t help many people who are reading this, since you already know where this business is located– but he number of a place I thought I was calling when I googled flower places *was* right down the street for me and very convenient. Well, evidently that place has closed and Affordable Flowers has assumed the numbers a few other stores that are now served by this location. So I planned my errands that day around the fact that it would take almost no time to pick this up and I’m glad I didn’t wait until the last minute to pick it up thinking it was blocks from my house, or I might not have made it in time before they closed. Partially my fault I guess, for not paying attention to the fact that the name they answered the phone with was probably not the same as the location I thought I was calling. But I am sure this could very confusing for others as well so I’ll mention it anyway.
Anyway, it cost me a little time I had not accounted for, but they more than made up for that with their service and quality. I can’t remember the last time I bought a corsage and didn’t ask prices when I placed the order (which I realized is playing with fire, but I knew I didn’t want to spend a lot of time shopping around), but figured for around $ 20, and it was $ 23 out the door, so right on par with what I was planning to spend.

This place is truly for those who want to send obligatory flowers (cheap?!) and cannot be bothered to go to the grocery store (no offense to grocery store arrangements because some can actually be very nice). I have probably never before had the misfortune in receiving such a sad assortment of flowers in a vase. I was so distressed by it that I sent it back with a specific request for a better arrangement only to have the second one be even worse (which I didn’t think was even possible.) I am of the opinion that NO flowers or better than ugly ones. (In fact, I may have that put on my tombstone.) This place must emphasize the «affordable» part of its name at the expense of minimal floral artistry and creativity.
AF: Please send your staff to get some proper training!!!
FOR OUT OF TOWNERS (who abhor ugly and awful but have no clue where to call) IN THE BIRMINGHAM AREA, TRY TIFFANYS OR BLOSSOM.
BUT If you think the thought is all that matters and that junky, boring, TACKY baby’s breath based arrangements are your speed, this place is for you. I KNOW THERE ARE UNFORTUNATELY MANY OF YOU OUT THERE… Anyway, nobody wants sad, tacky, horrid arrangements. Or maybe some people do since this place has 2 shops!!!
Actually, the only reason places like this stay in business is because people are TOO polite to say to you (the innocent, thoughtful Sender) that the florist sucked and that you (the sad Recipient) threw the flowers away as soon as possible. It’s that simple.
Or maybe here’s a thought, please save your money and don’t bother. Give it to charity. Really.
(NOTE: I appreciated that they did take back the first and send a replacement, and if it had been even remotely better… I hate writing such a harsh review for a small business but in my opinion, bad flowers are criminally insulting rather than a true gift as intended by the sender.)
In sum: Such a waste of flowers, time, energy, and money to inadvertently go to the WRONG florist. ON BEHALF OF PEOPLE EVERYWHERE WHO LOVE FRESH, GORGEOUS FLOWERS– PLEASE BE WARNED AND CHOOSE ACCORDINGLY!!!

Just had the most beautiful and sweet smelling wedding thanks to Louise and her team at affordable flowers!!!
Louise is the best!!! She sat down with me for over an hour to make sure she understood what I wanted. She did my beautifullllll bouquet as well as my bridesmaids. In addition to that, she did the corsages and boutonnieres and even a hair piece for my flower girl. Everything was perfectly organized and gorgeous when we picked them up. She even had some loose flowers for the ceremony decorations and cake.
She was great about communicating and honest about what would cost more money and what types of flowers work well together. Very professional, organized, and personalized service. Thanks Louise!!!

I’m giving them 5 stars. 1 for location to my girlfriends work. 1 for not having needlessly high prices. 1 for the easy use of their online ordering. 1 for cheap /​standard deliver charge and 1 last star because when it’s 4 am and you are looking for a way to apologize for being an ungrateful ass-​hat their website kinda spells it out for you.

I was shocked and teary-​eyed once I opened my eyes from surgery at Beaumont and saw the GORGEOUS flowers my fiancé brought me from Affordable Flowers yesterday. They were big, fresh and displayed beautifully in a vase (enclosed in a safe, easy to travel box base!) … and they even propped up an adorable stuffed animal puppy– which just put it over the top!
Recovering at home, they’re sitting pretty next to my bed, blooming and blooming as the hours go on.

Quality of flowers was good which explains my 3 stars… the «gentleman» who waited on me on the other hand was not worthy of a single star. I placed my order in advance and discussed the types if flowers desired in bouquet– however once I arrived the bouquet — while nice, was not what was discussed. When I mentioned this to the «gentleman» he seemed irritated and didn’t even attempt an apology.
Sorry I don’t care how good your product is, if your customer service sucks you’ll fail eventually keep driving next time considering you can throw a stone and hit one of their competition. Thanks for a very sub-​par, lackluster experience…
