Exceptional food and great atmosphere. The price is right, too. $ 8.20 for a full meal.

Excellent café with a humanitarian mission. I ordered the jerk chicken plate and I think that it was the most slowly I have ever enjoyed a meal because I wanted it to last… Cookies are crunchy and yummy. The workers here are part of a criminal rehabilitation program and are so helpful and friendly. The manager is excellent and warm. Highly recommend.

Staff seemed unfamiliar with today’s daily special(haddock) and lacked one of its side dishes. Instead of informing us, they just didn’t make it. My husband had to repeat that he ordered the fish and wait again, for what turned out to be dry, old fish. The jerk chicken sandwich is recommended by other reviewers, but turns out I’m not a fan of jerk.

I absolutely love it here and I am pretty upset I have waited SO long to give Haley House a review. The food is amazing, the staff is great + super friendly, the atmosphere is extremely chill, and the place overall is very cozy! At my most recent visit, I dined in and got jerk chicken, sweet potato mash, and mac&cheese with a side of corn bread. Let me just say I am extremely OBSESSED with this place. Have you ever eaten something and just thinking about it you can still taste it? Well the food here definitely gives you that feeling. Lots of options — I hope to return soon. So stay tuned for an updated review.

Another great brunch/lunch option! There’s parking and the Bakery has a great community development program! But aside from the social goodness blah blah, the food is amazing! Jerked chicken how its meant to taste and best scones I had in the northeast! Soo fresh, sooo good! Go, eat a scone!

I work in the neighborhood. I get up early every morning just so I can get a coffee and pastry at Haley House on the way in. The coffee is great — always two different roasts available, always fresh and hot. High quality beans, brewed right. Pretty good iced coffee also. The pastries/baked goods are as good as it gets. The muffins are off the charts tasty and the scones are HUGE. Tried a sandwich today. The jerk chicken grilled cheese was really good and had a nice crispy slaw on the side that complimented the sandwich perfectly. The only let-down is that they don’t do espresso drinks. Their coffee and baked items make up for this though. Did I mention the people who work here are very warm, friendly and inviting? Two thumbs way up!

Try their breakfast wrap ‘the firecracker’ made with smoky spicy collards, scramble eggs, turkey bacon, cheddar cheese and hot sauce all in a wheat wrap, with home fries on the side.

I’m in love with HH. Afterall, HH provides good food for a good cause! Everything here is solid and for a good price. If you ever cater from them, their pizza is amazing and they also offer healthy options, like roasted veggies with dip. HH is also really cozy and a great place to get a bit of work done.

Haley House is more than a bakery. It’s a community. It’s a non-profit. It’s mission is to help improve the city of Boston. I went in for a coffee and left feeling part of something larger. I went back to their Thursday night events and another fundraiser. Come to Haley house, but don’t just come for the food(which is delicious) come to be involved.

Haley House is a model for what businesses should be like. The place has a program in which those who were previously incarcerated are hired, trained for hard and soft skills, and offered other support. I had the opportunity to attend one of the program graduations and it was really awesome seeing the great work that is being done through it. A few people shared how the program was a turning point for them and offered an opportunity to move forward in their lives. Many of these graduates attained several job offers after graduating. Not only does Haley House have a great mission, but it also has great food! I’ve only tried the banana muffin and the oatmeal raisin cookie, but both were delicious. The muffin was moist and fluffy with dried banana pieces on top. The cookie was crunchy, which I’m normally not a fan of, but this one was to die for! Unfortunately, I finished both of them alone. The interior is very cozy. The walls are plastered with quilts and the place is filled with both long tables and small individual tables. Finally, the staff is friendly! If you want to support a business that directly betters the community and try some great food while you’re at it, come check out Haley House!

The moment we walked into this neighborhood café run by the inspiring Haley House non-profit organization, we felt welcomed by the delicious smells of coffee brewing, breakfast grill cooking, the sights of a very diverse crowd, beautiful quilt art in the walls, and the feel of community. The herbal tea(Red Zen) one of many loose teas was tart and spicy, the fair trade coffee hot and plentiful(free refills!) and, as newcomers, the huge cookies we were gifted topped off a fantastic café afternoon. We were also excited to learn about the café’s social enterprise that brings in local HS students, people on the rebound from hard life situations, and others to build a more just economy while serving up «food with a purpose.» We will definitely come back for a meal, hopefully on one of their live music nights.

Glad we finally walked over to Haley House for lunch. About a 10 minute walk from Northeastern University, Haley House does an amazing job of building community in our local neighborhood. Love their mission and commitment to social justice! Food was good(so affordable too!), service was friendly(free cookie for first time visitors!) and bustling atmosphere. I’ll be back.

Some of the best food and most warm, welcoming people in Boston. They’re serving dinner Weds-Fri now! I have yet to attend the Poetry Slams every other Friday or Community Tables on Saturday. But, I’ve attended«Art is Life itself!» twice now. It’s hosted every Thursday and features awesome local artists, musicians, poets, activists, and thinkers. Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to participate over a plate of great food. Haley House Café does a great job of building community and social justice through creative expression. Jerk Chicken is outstanding, but this place is vegan/veg friendly if you’re into that. Original Review: Great food and a social justice oriented business model. Dudley is changing, let’s hope places like this can keep its history and community intact.

During my three and a half day weekend in Boston, I managed to hit up Haley House four times. That really means something! Vegan, vegetarian, omnivore, whatever your dietary needs, this place has something for you. And chances are it’s pretty darn hand/homemade. Even the hot teas, the loose teas are so painstakingly and tenderly scooped and hand wrapped into tea bags, sometimes holding up the line. I had the veggie burger, TWICE, so it wasn’t the most cohesive patty, but it was magnificent, unlike the usual soy protein and black bean patties of vegan dining. That slaw y’all, perfect accompaniment to this burger. The banana nut muffin? Pretty sure I’ve never indulged in a more perfectly fluffy, yet moist, banana nut muffin in my entire life. Also, Haley House is huge into community involvement and events. I stopped by a free poetry slam event on Friday evening, something I’ve regretfully never been to, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, more than I expected to. Haley House moreover strives to employ formerly incarcerated people because come on, society is dogging these folks for not being able to get back on their feet quickly enough. Well shoot, how are they supposed to when no one will give them a chance? I can confirm that everyone I interacted with during my four visits was extremely friendly and outgoing, which I particularly appreciate with I’m in foreign terrain. Anyway, check this place out if you’re ever in Boston. You can thank me later!

I love this place!!! My friend worked here and told me about this hidden gem and boy was I happy to find it! The purpose is a second chance place for many and it’s amazing what they do. And the food is even better! I think I’ve tried everything on this menu and haven’t had one complaint. The portions are filling, the food is affordable and they have this cool patio outside. You HAVE to try the jerk chicken with the mac and cheese. It will make you cry tears of joy. It so spicy and so flavorful. Also always end your meal here with a cookie, the cookies are to die for.

Went here to try out a new place around BMC for lunch with a coworker. We both loved that all the money from this place is going to a good cause. After reading through several Unilocal reviews, I decided to go with the curry chicken salad sandwich and a chocolate chip cookie. I have to admit, the curry chicken salad was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. The currant and apple matched perfectly with the curry sauce of the chicken. My only gripe about the wrap, was that it didn’t have that much meat in it and I was hungry for the cookie afterwards. The cookie was also good, but not one of the best ever as it was a little more crispy than I usually prefer. The prices of this place are reasonable, and it all came out pretty quickly as well. Overall, this place is a great find in the south west corner of the South End. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you enjoy curried chicken salad wraps as much as I do!

4 Stars only because I LOVE their purpose. I just discovered them recently. I’ve been for brunch once which was decent. I’ve been for lunch and I’ve been for the Community Service Donation dinner. When I went for lunch the food preparer, rather than informing me that they didn’t have what I wanted just threw something on my plate. Didn’t have brown rice so I guess they gave me white instead… only I hate white rice and would have rather had something else altogether. If the theme is not having any say over what I’m eating I’d have to say that I prefer the com service donation dinner. I will likely end up spending more but I know better than to get my hopes up expecting to get something I won’t actually be getting. lol I recommend everyone attend the Saturday evening(5pm) dinner. I think it’s prepared by cook mentors who’ve completed the program along with the help of kids from the neighborhood.

Haley House gets a five star review because not only are they committed to local food, this place truly has a heart for the community. I wish more business’s would follow their model. If you’re over by Dudley Station you would honestly do the city a disservice by purchasing your morning joe anywhere else. I came in with my sister on an early morning and wasn’t hungry but she insisted so I got some tea and a blueberry muffin. My sister ordered coffee and a scone. My muffin was moist, fresh and delicious. My tea was hot and I appreciate that they have all the extras for you to add on your own… Sugar, honey, etc. My sister wasn’t happy with her scone but I assume the problem is just scones themselves… Yuck I hate them lol no fault of the Haley House though… I definitely have to come back and support the Haley House and try some more of the food they have to offer!

Try their jerk chicken wrap and chocolate chip cookie! Their staff is friendly and helpful. They have free wifi! It is a perfect place to bring a friend or have an informal business meeting. The atmosphere is inviting and light. They always have great music playing in the background. Every so often, they display art from artists or organizations they support because of their involvement in building up the community. I have been here on many occasions and I have never had a bad experience. The quality of food is wonderfully consistent and locally fresh. If you have not been here, try it and bring a friend or a laptop. You will love it!

I want to eat here every day for the rest of my life. The cheese grits were better than even my family makes(shh, don’t tell). I also had jerk chicken and eggs and it was one of the most satisfying meals ever with just enough of everything, and prices are a steal. The ambiance is homey and the coffee is amazing. Staff were swell. This place is a treasure.

Haley House is one of my FAVORITE places in Boston. The food and service at HH are awesome and I love how they hire folks who would otherwise have a difficult time finding a job. All their food is made to order and made with fresh ingredients. My favorite breakfast item is the«firecracker». It’s a pressed breakfast wrap with turkey bacon, egg, cheese and spicy collard greens. Just get it… it is that good! For lunch, I recommend get the chicken club sandwich. I was told that they bake their own bread and hope that it’s still the case because the crust is perfectly crisp and inside is so fluffy and soft. If you’ve never been to HH, you must must must get their famous giant chocolate chip cookie. You will not regret it! Also, if you tell them it’s your first time there, they might give you a cookie for free :) If you’re looking for a quiet place to do work, you may want to look elsewhere, as it gets pretty busy on the weekdays and their music is usually loud. But if you don’t mind, I see people camping out and doing work here all the time. The best part about HH is their large FREE parking lot… which is very rare in Boston.

Good food and even better cause. You can eat out and spend your money on something that gives back to the community. Came for lunch/brunch and was very pleased. Food made with fresh ingredients, made from scratch. Shared some jerk chicken that came with a side salad, poutine with eggs, and a cookie. Definitely try their baked goods. Their big cookies are awesome… crispy crunchy yet moist and gooey at the same time! They have local art on the walls, many community events, and live music too. Support Haley house!

I regret not trying this place sooner! Tucked away behind some buildings, one would easily miss this place. There is a huge private lot with free parking! Bonus star given we’re in Boston. As soon as I got out of my car I knew I was in for a treat. Whatever they were brewing in that magical place you could smell it immediately. I got the jerk chicken grilled cheese with cheddar, tomato, and caramelized onions, $ 6.95. Holy smokes. Talk about succulent chunks of chicken bursting with flavor. I can’t wait to go back to try everything else on the menu.
