I go all the time. If you need to buy music scores, this place has the best collection around, especially for piano, and the prices are very reasonable. Also, if you can’t find what you need, Shirley is really nice and helpful.
They open at 11 during the week, so don’t go early in the morning.

My daughter has been taking viola lessons here for the past 3 years from a viola (not violin) teacher. It’s difficult finding a viola teacher, most are violin teachers who double up. Rates for lessons are competitive with other music stores and less than private teachers.
We’ve also purchased two violas (one performance at $ 1,200, one beater at $ 200 to keep at school) from here, having compared prices with stores as far as Burbank. We brought the expensive viola to a friend who plays in the L.A. Phil, she said it was a good deal, worth more in the range of $ 1,800+.
The store is cluttered with instruments and music books. There’s a table with chairs for waiting parents (usually full). I’m docking the store one star because the practice /​lesson rooms have no sound insulation, and because of the general messiness.
I’ve never had problems with people cutting in front of me.

went her to pickup an instrument, when i got there the owner was busy with a customer, no prob, so i patiently waited.
the other guy working there was moving boxes, so I didn’t bother, he even asked us to move to the side so he could get thru.
A second later a woman walks in, and the guy immedatiely when to go help her. I guess you have to be a woman or where a dress for this PERVY HORNY guy to acknowledge you. When I pointed out I was here first, he said he didn’t know I was there? WTF!
Prices where 2x more than Sam Ash, why even go to this small whole in the wall music store, crappier service & higher price, & limited selection.
Why shop here at all??? So much for supporting your local family businesses.
