Because it was closer than Sam Woo and I didn’t know what to eat, I decided to stop by to grab lunch. The fact that there were people waiting for this place made it seem legit until I tasted it myself. Just looking at all the bbq duck/pork already makes salivate. There is one thing that is good about this place and it is their price. $ 5.99 + tax is pretty a good deal considering how much rice/veggies/proteins they give you. So i got the Duck and Cha Siu. I might have to say the Cha Siu might have been the worst I ever had in my life. I couldn’t get over their nasty sauce that they poured all over the rice. In all honestly, I wanted to throw it away when I took the first bite of the Cha Siu but I toughed it out considering how much food I be wasting if I had done so. The sauce was really peppery and it was overly salty. It’s okay to be salty but the peppery taste that really didn’t go well w/the Cha Siu KILLED it for me. Not to mention, that sauce was all over my rice… so even when I wasn’t eating Cha Siu, there was that taste to it. The Cha Siu itself wasn’t good either. It was really tough and hard to eat and don’t forget that nasty sauce. I would say that their duck is actually decent. It also feels like there is more meat than the ones at Sam Woo. It is a tad oversalted but not a big deal. I really don’t get how this place can be so high rated especially if you had tried the Cha Siu. I seriously consider the 1 star.

MKBBQ is a takeout only food stand inside the HK2 supermarket. I didn’t see a sign for MKBBQ from the outside and the location is not in an obvious place. MKBBQ is located where they sell the raw meat and fish inside the supermarket. MKBBQ sells Hong Kong style BBQ in a panda express like setup. I didn’t see any areas to eat indoors but there are some limited tables outside of the supermarket. You can order certain items by the pound or order a full or half duck. You can also order a combination plate as well, which is 2 or 3 of their BBQ items over rice. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. No one was able to speak English when I went. However, I was still able to easily order by pointing to a menu and the items I wanted. Seems like a decent place for a quick lunch. Cash only. Three Item Combination($ 6.99): 3.5÷5 I ordered roasted duck, roasted pork with crackling, and char siu over rice. The char siu was excellent! The char siu was not too fatty, was tender, had good flavor, and had good balance between sweetness and savory. The pork and duck also had good flavor and had a nicely roasted edge to the meat. Unfortunately, they were both dry. Some of the other items in the food bar looked good though. Maybe they were having an off day. Parking: 5⁄5 Lots of spaces in a huge parking lot.

This place can be hit or miss. The first time the wife brought back some BBQ from this place for lunch, I thought it was the greatest thing ever. 2 item combo consisting of BBQ Pork and Crispy Roasted Duck over white rice and a bed of greens. Seriously when this is on, nothing else compares. But the last time we went here which was last week, the food wasn’t good at all. Not sure if it was the time of day(4pm) you know, that awkward hour way after lunch but not quite dinner yet. The duck hanging by the window looked more Hugh Hefner than Donald Duck. Dried and wrinkly but with no plans as where to eat, we decided to once again get the 2 item combo. Same BBQ Pork and Roast Duck for me. Once we got home, I opened the lunch container only to find something that looked like someone’s left over lunch from yesterday. I’m not even sure the duck I got came from one duck. Yikes! We managed to eat a little over half of it and the rest went in the garbage. Having a weak spot for Roast Duck and being so far away from the SGV is never fun so I’ll probably come back here again. But maybe the next time, during the hours when regular people consume food.

This place is cash only! The service is so nice, it’s a little Chinese BBQ place inside the HK market. The quality matches the price. The chicken wings are delicious!

Cash only! One of my best take out bento places. The most authentic Hong Kong bbq I had in Us. And the price is cheap too, 7 ish for a three choices bento. The only reason I can’t give them a five star is their customer service.

Three and a half stars. I was in the mood for Hong Kong style char siu(bbq pork). Found this place via Unilocal. It was challenging to find since it is inside a market a ways back off of Colima. There are several interesting places adjacent to the market, a Chengdu Taste, a Dong Bei Hometown Restaurant, a Sichuan Hot Pot restaurant as well as a Hokkaido Ramen joint. I opted for the one item bbq pork over rice since that was what I was craving. The roast duck, shoyu chicken, and crispy roast pork all looked good too. As far as the taste and flavor, it was average. I’ve had better so I was a little disappointed. It wasn’t bad by any means but not exceptional. The rice had sweet soy sauce drizzled on it which gave it a nice flavor. A few strands of Chinese greens was placed alongside the char siu. Cash only. This is a takeout stand, not a restaurant. There are benches outside to eat your food in your styrofoam container.

Favor is good, but got so thirsty after, it’s might be the msg working, service is bad, no sauce come with any of the order. I order roasted pork &BBQ pork roasted pork & roasted duck They had asked 3 times and stil got my order wrong. I asked for the sauce, the lady cashier, just said NO, we don’t give out sauce… Food favor is not the best, price is okay, maybe a dollar cheaper than elsewhere.

Very good service and quality! I ordered a whole roasted duck, and it’s very juicy and fresh. Btw, they accept cash only, and I didn’t have cash; the owner of the store let me pay another day, which was very kind of him! Highly recommend this place for everybody!

So I was looking on Unilocal for«Hot and New» eateries near me using the filter and MKBBQ popped up. I do love gold Chinese BBQ and I just kept putting it off until today. Like most other reviews mention, MKBBQ is located near the back of the HK2 market. The BBQ meats look really nicely prepared. I ordered 2 of the 3 items on rice($ 6.99). My first box was BBQ pork, roast pork, and roast duck. I ordered another box for my mom with BBQ pork, roast pork and soy sauce chicken and a pound of their honey BBQ chicken wings. My 3 items on rice was packed with some perfectly steamed rice on he bottom, sliced BBQ pork that wasn’t overly fatty and not too lean that it is dry, sliced in good sized slices. The roast duck was well seasoned with five spice and anise the first two end pieces were a bit boney but it got meatier the last couple pieces and the roast pork belly, it was perfect, the skin was crispy and thin which reminded me of suckling pig. It came with couple pieces of broccoli and they ladled the sauce from the BBQ pork over the rice, such a comforting and delicious meal and such a great value, another place to get Chinese BBQ from besides my usuals of Leung Kee or Seafood Village. This place is cash only.

I’m finally leaving review for HKBBQ after the fourth try, hands down the best roasts crispy pork I have tasted in a while, better then Sam woo down the street, the soy sauce chicken has good flavor, the BBQ pork is not tough and very tasty, the roasted pork has a perfect combination of fat and meat. I always get the three items over rice. Highly recommend to get it with roasted pork, chicken leg and duck leg. This place is cash only and located in the fish area inside HK2 market.

Best Hong Kong style roast duck, roast pork and bbq pork. I have tried many places in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles. This place is the best in my humble opinion. It is definitely better than Sam Woo. It is even more authentic and delicious than many places in Hong Kong. Prices are very reasonable. If you want to try authentic Hong Kong style roast BBQ or if you want the best Hong Kong style roast BBQ, you must try this place. In fact do not trust my review and go try it for yourself. My review is just my humble opinion. Cash only

AWESOMEBBQ pork. Crispy skin and the meat is not gamey. Cha siu is delicious too(they also let you choose between lean and fatty if you have a preference). I haven’t tried the roast duck nor soy sauce chicken yet because I LOVE their BBQ pork and Cha Siu too much. Honestly, the best BBQ pork and Cha Siu in Rowland Heights. They also chop up the meat in bite size pieces. Drooling now. Cash ONLY. Located inside the HK supermarket near the back(where meat/seafood section is located in the supermarket).

MKBBQ is a Chinese BBQ place located in Hong Kong Supermarket. It’s located past the food aisles near the back of the supermarket adjacent to Fresh Meat Service. I usually get the Roasted Crispy Duck. It’s a whole duck and it is a pretty big duck. They chop up the whole duck so no you’re not carrying that whole duck by the neck all the way home. They chop it up nicely so each piece has a good amount of meat. The duck is very tender, juicy, and savory. The duck skin is thick and even the fatty part under it was tasty. Their duck has a lot of meat compared to other duck places I’ve been to. Seriously, their duck is the best I’ve had thus far. Their Soy Sauce Chicken is also pretty good. Like the Roasted Crispy Duck, they chop it all up. The chicken meat is very tender and the skin is soft and light in flavor. The soy sauce flavor is evenly distributed throughout the meat so it is very flavorful. None of the food is photogenic at all. I mean when the roasted birds are hanging it looks terrifying and when it’s all chopped up it doesn’t look pretty either. But hell, it’s all delicious. The owner and his wife that run this place are both very friendly. Overall, a great take out place for Chinese BBQ. Their crispy roast duck and soy sauce chicken are fantastic. I’ll be back for another visit!

+ good HK style roasted duck and pork. + good value for its pricing — location not easy to find — limited supply, so be aware that its sold out near close time.

Disclaimer: Rowland Heights Chinese BBQ sucks. If you want good roast duck, roast pork, or bbq pork, go to Monterey Park. MKBBQ is a welcome addition to the Rowland Heights area for Chinese BBQ. They are located inside of HK Supermarket near the back of the store. They have roast duck, roast pork belly, and bbq pork(char siu). They sell their meat by the pound, or as a lunch combo with rice. Their prices seem to be cheaper than their competition. I had most of their meats in a lunch combo. Their roast duck is flavorful. It might be better than the Sam Woo in Rowland Heights, but, that is not saying much. They use pork belly for their roast pork. The roast pork is good. The pork skin is nice and crunchy. The meat is nice and moist, not dry like some places. Char siu is decent with a good flavor. Their combos are cheap. My only complaint is that they don’t give enough meat. But, then again, their combos are a few dollars cheaper than their competition. The latest photos look like they are giving more meat. Service is good. The employees are nice and friendly and did not make fun of my Chinglish. It’s a decent BBQ in the Rowland Heights area. They may be as good, if not better than Sam Woo. If you want decent Chinese BBQ without driving all the way to Monterey Park, MK might be the place to go. 3 stars if it was in Monterey Park. 4 stars for the Rowland Heights area.

I love hole in the wall neighborhood finds like this one. Thanks Unilocal community! $ 6.99 for 3 items including rice and veggies! And I got a side of the scallion and ginger oil for the chicken… delicious! Added bonus that the older cashier lady was super sweet. She was all excited when I asked for a side of the scallion and ginger oil saying people on Facebook rave about it. :) *cash only*

4.5 stars. This is inside the supermarket, not the shops within the same building after the cashiers. They have plenty of options for a lunch combo: 1-item, 2-item, 3-item, etc. I picked up the 2-item box with charsiu and roast duck. rice is decent, not too soft or hard. Charsiu is very delicious: tender, not too overly marinated in red dye, flavor is just right, not too strong. Roast duck: it’s decent, there’s some fat underneath the skin. My parents also frequent for the soy chicken, it’s flavorful, and tender/juicy. Good deal, decent price. I’m returning.

I have ordered the BBQ Pork, Red Sausage, Intestine combination on top of rice. I have to admit I was drafted by fellow Unilocalers with such high review. Don’t get me wrong, the food is decent. But not something extraordinary. As main advantage for this location, there is no HK Style BBQ shop around such high density of restaurant area. You have to travel more than 10min to SamWoo, or Four Season. BBQ Pork — its moist, but more flavor will be better. Sausage — good combination of salty and sweetness. Intestine — something I might not order anytime soon, because it’s a bit too fatty. Taste is good, but the fat within the wall is not wash thoroughly. There are many more items which I will continue to explore; I am looking forward to try out the chicken, duck and roast pork.

For the price and quality of food here, its amazing. I can’t believe this place don’t get more reviews. Food: Amazing food and good portion, especially for the price they’re charging. They charge $ 5.99 for 2 items with rice and 3 times for $ 6.99 with rice. I’ve tried their BBQ pork, chicken, roasted duck a few times and never disappoint. Even the veggie that came with the rice is delicious, and I’m not a veggie person. The food here is better than most of HKBBQ pork restaurants around 626 area. I can imagine myself eating here once a week. Location: It’s in HK plaza, so there’s plenty of parking. But can be very crowded during weekend. The actual place is located inside the HK supermarket as the deli department. If its your first time, you might need to walk around to find it. Service: Sometime when they’re busy, they might mess up your order or forget to give you sauce that you need for the roasted duck. Not really a deal breaker. Price: Wow! I don’t think you can find anything cheaper that taste this good. If you want a cheap and quick bite. This is the place for you. I’ll definitely recommend this place to all my friends.

This place is so far the best HK style bbq in the area, located in the supermarket’s bbq section. I got the three-item combo for around $ 7, and it tastes great! I guess they forgot to give me the sweet n sour sauce for the roasted duck, but actually it is good even without the sauce. Resonable price and good quality, I recommend it :)

My friend Charlie has been raving about this place for weeks and I finally found time to check it out during lunch time. Located inside Hong Kong supermarket as the deli department all the way in the back, it sure was hard to find. After walking around the whole area(except going inside to the supermarket, sigh), the nice cashier at the supermarket finally pointed it out for me. The place is dirt cheap and everything looked amazing. They have all the Hong Kong bbq items. Roasted pig, roasted duck, oil chicken, braised cuttlefish, etc. They also sell lunch box starting at $ 4.99 for one item that comes with some veggie over rice, and you can pick any items they have. The only thing I dislike about was the meat portion I received for my lunch box. Sure it was cheap but at the same time, after picking 3 items, I was looking at 4 pieces of chicken, 5 pieces of chashu, and 4 tiny chunks of roasted pork with a field of rice. That’s just not enough for a fatty like me, even though it was very delicious. I feel you will get more for your bucks if you just buy the meat only. Cash only, will come back for sure. Thanks Charlie for the find.
