Kula Sushi Bar

Kula’s soft opening was today, and their official grand opening is on Saturday!
Since this restaurant JUST opened its doors to the public today, everything was new, sparkly, and clean! If you’ve ever been to the Kula in Irvine and you have a really horrible craving for sushi, you no longer have to drive to the O.C. to get your fix! Everything on their belt is $ 2 (unlike Gatten), and you’re allowed to order handrolls, udon, tempura, and dessert from your server! But then again, the whole point of going to a revolving sushi bar is for the experience of picking out your food on the belt…
Another definite plus side is the no-​wait time. Compared to Irvine which usually has 30 minutes to 2 hour waits depending on what time you go, Rowland Height’s location required no wait time today!
Decent/​fresh selection in sushi, servers are quick to pick up the sushi plate covers, fast refills, and friendly service all around. The rolls are a little small, and there are some plates that just have 1 piece of sushi, but of course those are usually the pricier ones everywhere else, too. All I have to say about the quality of sushi is that you shouldn’t be expecting the best at $ 2/​plate — you get what you pay for, and $ 2 feels just about right.
The 12 tables are extremely spacious, even for a family of 4. The sushi bar has 15 seats. But regardless of where you sit, the belt rotates to you! Isn’t that neat?
They’re new, so they’re still working out the kinks. With that said, I’m so glad they decided to open up closer to home.
