My family and I have been coming here since the early 90’s…back when the Alpha Beta grocery store was right next to this place. Pathfinder road was nothing but dirt… Colima ended at Fairway; it was not uncommon for equestrians to be riding back and forth on their horses. The days when the old Barnes & Noble on Colima and Albatross used to be a Fuddrucker’s where my old man and I would eat lunch on Sundays and I’d go to the old comic book store across the parking lot to pick up the latest issue of the Terminator.
Back when Vons was on Colima, Hong Kong Plaza was a bowling alley, Banana Bay used to be a cheap American buffet — and that particular strip mall was faded brown and dying… back when there were three gas stations on Fullerton and Colima — Texaco, Exxon, and 76.
Back when the Starbucks across Puente Hills mall was a Music Plus where you’d get the latest TLC cassette album. Back when Kenny, Buddy, and Ursula would tune my bicycle at Hacienda Schwinn.
Back when the entire city of Rowland Heights didn’t have a lick of Chinese posted on a single sign. When Little Bean and Hankook market opened up, that was a big deal for us asians.
Anyways; I’ve probably had dozens of keys made here. I’m glad these guys are still in business after all those years. And I’m glad the Winchell’s donut shop is still somehow… some way… surviving.
And for all the previous reviewers pulling out the race card — please.
As an Asian that grew up in an all White Rowland Heights, I understand our cultures tend to transform us into introverted, paranoid, shy, bubbled, sensitive, prideful, filial piety’d individuals. When someone gives you a direct answer — they’re not being racist, they’re giving you a direct answer… it’s American culture. This is why the Bamboo Ceiling still exists. Overcome it, brethren, and ye shall succeed!

I came to this particular establishment to have two regluar door keys cut. Total cost was a whopping $ 5.12 after tax for two keys that took abt 20 seconds to cut. The same results can be achieved for much less Everwhere else and with much better service. I don’t mind that it’s a couple cents more at this establishment, but the lady acts like I owe her the world for cutting my keys at a premium.
I got to agree with Andrew A. and Anna P. The serivce provided by the caucasian lady was subpar and communication is nonexistent.
There’s an antiquated sign towards the right side of the counter that states you an also get your car remote key fobs here. It’s actually just a random sign that was put up, because they do not provide that service here.
I love to support mom and pop shops, but my experience today is just not worth recommending this here location.

Walt F I ask the owner how much to come out and fix my lock she said $ 50.00 and when they could come out to my house she said that it would be tues July 1,2015 around 11:00. At around 12:00 no phone call so I called they said it would have to be July 2, 2015 Around 1:00 at 1:45 no phone call so I called them they said 20 minutes they finally showed up at 2:45 then I didn’t ask them if it would be more money I just thought that it was $ 50.00 so when he was done then he said it was a total of $ 150.00 and 59.00 for parts. make sure you ask how much before they start.

On the 18^th of April.
Had to get a new key made for my car. I walked in told her i needed a copy of my key the «big women» just stuck out her hand got to work. She lacks friendliness and communication. And seems like shes forced to work there. The owner needs to have more better CUSTOMER SERVICE clerks… First impressions leave a big impact. My impression is that i wont recommend this place. I wouldn’t want friends and family treated and serviced poorly.

Called to get a key made for our car. The rude lady took our address and estimated an hour for the technician to arrive. After waiting an hour and a half I called back to see if they were close. The same lady answered and informed me that the technician that could make that key was not working today. Had to start over with our search. Very unprofessional and defiantly not reliable. They may be good at making keys, but after dealing with their customer service I will never know. Will never call again.

I called late Friday afternoon to see if they cold come to my house and re-​key three locks. The people said they would check with their tech and call me back. I got a quick call back to reschedule for the next morning the tech was on time and professional. I will be using them again.

I called today to get an estimate for our garage door. When I spoke to a lady on the phone, she was very very rude when I was asking questions. I asked if a new key needed to be made and she said «well I can’t magically open it.» If a person is like that over the phone, I definitely would not like them at my home. The number I called was 909−594−4210.

Great price. I had 12 keys made and they were really helpful. I will come back here! Plus there was a dog in the store, so cute!

The overweight woman who helped me (helped in the past as well) was not friendly, not nice and almost rude. She has an attitude problem that needs to be adjusted especially at this date and age where customer service is a must to stay in business.
I refuse to do any more business with this company because of this woman!

Great service, great price! Can’t believe I’ve been living in RH for 5+ years and never went here. Total supporter of small family businesses, no more keys made at Home Depot! My sister had her car keys made here, and they even fixed her car door (key would get jammed) had my key made here for only 5 bucks! (Purchased key online)

They assisted with the installation of two handles on my truck.
The work they did was decent, but unfortunately, one of the handles that I asked them to install, fell off :(
It was kind of a last minute thing that I asked for them to do but it also ended up looking like it was a last minute installation.
I would have preferred if they recommended some different options, them being the experts and all.
Like the saying goes… If you want something done right…

Went in today and waited maybe a minute before it was my turn to be helped. Woman was very friendly and quickly cut and programmed a vehicle key for me. Definitely a mom/​pop shop atmosphere and a positive experience.

I had to get some keys duplicated for work and found Jack’s on Unilocal.I’m so glad I went here! I browsed the store while waiting for the lady working there to finish up with a customer. There are a lot of things to check out — door locks, safes, keys with designs on them, key chains, etc. There is also a lovely golden retriever, Sophie, who was lounging around. She’s a very chill dog and only came over to say hi when I called out her name. While I happily gave Sophie a back rub, the lady duplicated my keys. She was fast and friendly AND the price was very reasonable. I will definitely come back here for any key/​lock needs.
On a side note, I have to comment about the reviewer who posted that this place has racist employees. I did NOT experience any sort of negativity, bigotry, prejudice, or racism while there today (yes, I’m Asian). I really think if there have been any sort of racist BS going on, Jack’s would have found it difficult to survive financially in that part of Asianville on Colima Rd. in Rowland Heights.

This place is fast! Came in here to duplicate a key and within seconds it was done! Would definitely come back if I need to duplicate a key again. Price is a bit more on dup keys, but they have a nice selection. Would definitely recommend this place.

This business has been around for years, it’s a testament to their skills and knowledge of locksmithing. Their expertise is top notch!
They will tell you the truth of what can or cannot be done. They DON’T charge an arm and a leg either.
We’ve used their services for both personal and commercial needs. We had them «make» a key for a used car that didn’t have a master key and only cost us $ 50. The dealer wanted to charge us $ 200.
We’ve had house locks changed where they come to you. They were in and out within an hour. I’ve also brought door locks and dead bolts to them to get them re-​keyed so they all match. They can do it all…

I recommend Lowes or anywhere else but here…
This place seriously need to get their act together… If you are closed at 5:30pm you should lock up so no one can come in. Instead I arrive at 5:45pm 1÷3÷2012 and the door is wide open. A white chick sitting behind the counter pretend to not see me and I waited for 5 – 10 minutes. I saw her starring at me and i asked if they are still open. no reply… she think i couldn’t see her through the window? WTF … Still no service I called and the chick ignore the call and continue with whatever she is looking at the computer.
SERIOUSLY!!! I call that racist just because I’m Asian and refuse to help!!! The lady can at least be nice enough to just say were closed, instead made me wait for no reason & ignore the call. This place just lost a customer /​Business… I will never have my company come to this place to replace locks ever again!

Best place to get replacement keys and changing locks! I’ve used them many times and they are rock solid. Reasonable prices. The keys work the first time without having to coming back to redo in my experience with unnamed general hardware stores.

i broke my key in my car ignition and i was so scared i was gonna have to pay 200. theres this other local key service i called and they said im looking at a starting price of 200. went into jack’s, the lady there had the broken piece out in like 10 seconds. got 2 keys made and the total was $ 25. score!

I can’t believe I’m the first person writing about Jack’s! My family moved into this neighborhood in 1992 and we’ve been going to JLK since then. i’ve moved to different cities but always come back to Jack’s when I want it done right the first time. If you have an older key or an odd sized one, i am sure thye have the blank.
