There are plenty of more well known BBQ places in Austin and this one is perfectly ok. I had the brisket and sausage plate. It seems like no matter how popular downtown Austin places are for their brisket and ribs, this place has the best sausage out of any of those places. The brisket is a little dry but all the right flavors are there. Overall it was a good lunch.

Let’s be honest here, I really don’t care for much of their lunch menu. However, with that being said, the breakfast is where it’s at, folks. The breakfast tacos are pretty darn good. You get to choose three items per taco. I always find that they taste great and are really filling. Besides that, the pricing is really decent. The staff is always friendly and the establishment is always clean when I visit. I’ll go back for breakfast again and again.

They did great tonight 1÷23÷16 They had a tough customer at about 645 or so who was REALLY demanding and taking up a lot of time. Staff kept their cool and the meat cutter was a professional!!! Great food as usual and I’ll be back!

First time here and the food was outstanding And the staff is friendly! Definitely will be back again. They definitely beat the guys down the road what’s the name of the place again? «R» whatever they were soooo rude there but anyway this review is not about them. Thanks to all the SMOKEYMO’s crew for saving the day!

Worst Smokey Mo’s, by far. If they even get your order right, you will probably be disappointed. I just looked the manager in the face and spoke clearly: «TWOBACONPOTATOANDCHEESETACOS». I got 2 bacon EGG and cheese. I was the only person in line… The potatoes in their breakfast tacos are mushy and starchy and have so much black pepper that my butthole itches just looking at them. The meat is overcooked. The restaurant is dirty. The manager is rude. Spend the gas and time it takes to go to one of the many other BETTER Smokey Mo’s restaurants in the area. It will be worth it.

Absolutely our favorite breakfast taco place! They load up the tacos so much the tortilla edges barely touch. They use chopped bacon so you don’t end up with a strip of bacon hanging from your mouth after the first bite. The eggs are seasoned and peppery but still moist. They also have biscuits and gravy with actual meat in the gravy and it’s all very reasonably priced. For lunch I am partial to the chopped beef and fried okra.

Only went here for breakfast so don’t have too much to base this off of. The breakfast tacos were okay at best. However, they had BBQ sauce on the tables which helped elevate the flavor a little. The BBQ sauce was okay but nothing to write home about. If you come here for breakfast, forget about the tacos and get the biscuits. Oh my goodness. They are fluffy and buttery and freaking delicious. I want to go back to try out their biscuits and gravy soon!

We have been going here since they opened, which was many years ago. Close to home, and a quick drive to get some BBQ. Biggest complaint is the inconsistency in the cooking, especially sandwiches and grill items. Have had some great food, some bad, and some just average. Depends who is working there at the time you go in. The baked potato I had was right up there with the best. Their«Baker Potato» is great too with the chopped brisket. I didn’t order that this time as I had a hamburger. The burger was overcooked, lacked flavor and was dry. Best to get the BBQ items and the baked potatoes. The sides are usually very good. If you get the right cook, you can get an A+ hamburger, but usually you’ll get average or worse. Family packs are reasonable, and there is plenty of food in them. We buy them often. The left over meat usually tastes just as good or better than on the first day. That’s a good sign. If they can get their grill cooking more consistent, I’d give them 5 stars, but not today.

First time; hopefully not the last. Daniel was very nice and let us sample three different meats. We were so impressed, we bought the three meat combo dinner with all three. The moist brisket was delicious. So was the turkey. And the pinto beans was a great recommendation by Daniel. Highly recommend!

I got a chopped brisket sandwich with fried okra. The sandwich was so overcooked, old, and cold that I literally spit it out. The frozen okra was bland, and the soda tasted like mold. You can also scrape layers of dirt off the floor. I’ll never go back.

I work in a mail center with weight scales so this is disturbing. I went there today to pick up lunch and I asked for half a pound of brisket, side of potato salad and a drink. Opened the bag at work and found out that it was less than a quarter pound of brisket which cost $ 16.65. I called them and told them I weighed it and they apologized for the mistake and they met me with what was supposedly the rest of my brisket. I weighed it alone and with the original and it was still under 40% of my order. Someone needs to check their scales.

Was just here this weekend on a family road trip, staying in a nearby hotel. I decided to try this spot after reading the mixed reviews. When I walked in, it passed the smell test my mama gave me — she always said if a BBQ place don’t even SMELL like BBQ, get to runnin! So, I decided to give it a whirl. I ordered a chopped BBQ and a jalapeño sausage sammich. The chopped beef sandwich was ultra spicy — like the spice was used to mask the fact that the beef wasn’t that good. Not sure on the sausage — that was for my daughter and she eyeballed it and refused to be a guinea pig. One thing did turn me off while I was getting my food — one of the ladies behind the counter actually dug under her hat and scratched her scalp while talking to another worker… this was after my sandwiches were made, but ummm GROSS!!! Like, nasty! Let’s not even go there and say I’m ever going back — I’ll stick to Whataburger and skip the chopped beef with a side of scalp sprinkles… BLECH!!!

Good food. Great turkey, decent ribs, dry but flavorful brisket. Sides were all top notch. Interior is outdated and feels like a bad Wild West movie set. Staff is nice but there is one staff member who looks at you like you have 3 heads when ordering. Weird.

Pork ribs were fresh hot and delicious. You need no teeth to eat their ribs as they fall off the bone, like they really do. They are very meaty. After three ribs i was very satisfied. I ordered ribs, bread, and mixed the sauce to make mine mildly spicy.

XXXX Spenive $$$$$$ I don’t know why brisket and sausage has to cost an arm and a leg to eat now… Rediculous! the meat is very smokey almost cant taste anything but smoke, then the sausage is the same way, not very much flavor at all, have to put a lot of sauce over it to give it something you can taste. and the side dishes, well lets say they should just not offer any sides, it would be better that way. Stay home and make your own BBQ you’ll thank me later.

Location Location Location. This place isn’t in a great location. It’s in a strip mall. I didn’t expect a BBQ place in here. But alright. The one thing I don’t understand about this place, is that it doesn’t smell like bbq anywhere within the vicinity. Are they using liquid smoke? I have no idea. It just *DOESN’T* smell like bbq. They claim that they are the #1BBQ in Central Texas. I asked them for the validity of their claim, and they say they were voted best in 2004. Who voted them best BBQ in 2004? That’s what I want to know. Here’s current Zagat best BBQ in Texas Out of 34 joints, this place doesn’t even RANK. First of all, this is very average bbq *AT* best. Everything is too fatty, the sides aren’t very impressive, and the sweet tea… Yeah, it’s not that sweet. I expected much better from the #1BBQ place in Central Texas. In case you were wondering where they say that they are, check their front window in their Round Rock location. I get it, it’s a buzzword. #1. But how dare you continue to say you’re the #1 best bbq place in Central Texas. This place doesn’t come anywhere near Franklin’s BBQ in Austin, or Mueller’s BBQ in Taylor. I don’t even think it’s as good as Pokey Jo’s bbq, which is basically down the street off of Sam Bass Rd. At least they have mac n’ cheese. I will say the spicy bbq sauce isn’t bad. In conclusion, this is a very AVERAGE place to eat. It’s nowhere NEAR #1, not even in Round Rock. This is a place to eat if you’re hankering for some BBQ and you’re within 5 miles of it’s location. But like I said before, Pokey Jo’s isn’t as fatty, the area actually smells like BBQ, they have mac n’ cheese, and the sweet tea is actually super saturated sweet. Just like it should be. I’ve lived in Texas all my life, I’d rather eat at Dickey’s.

As always we were hoping for great but got mediocre. Our favorite was the turkey. My husband doesn’t like turkey and even he liked it. We also had the brisket and pork ribs, both were dry. The cole slaw and potato salad were decent, the green beans were plain and out of a can. We also had their creamed corn which was decent. The place could really use an overhaul too.
