Really like Jack Allen’s. I use to always stick with fish taco’s but they started coming out way over done so I tried something new and did the chicken fried chicken and it was amazing. My husband ALWAYS gets the 5 cheese mac and they never go wrong on that. The only thing he wishes they would bring back was the Thi Chili Oil that they use to have. It was a lot better then the oils they have now.

First time being here and this place was amazing! Service was great, our server Ashley was so knowledgeable about the menu and the concept of the restaurant. You could tell she was busy but I never felt neglected, she was lovely! I had the Fat jack burger and it was hands down the best burger I’ve ever had, the bun was perfectly sweet. My friend had the thirteen spice chicken pasta and it was great, Ashley did warn us the jalapeños weren’t deveined so all the heat was still there and it definitely was but still delicious. Definitely will be back to try other items.

I have been going to Jack Allens for a couple of years now and the service as well as the food always delivers. I also enjoy the Sunday brunch(which has Round Rock donuts). For the price/value — Jack’s is a winner.

What’s not to say good about this local favorite? In the few years of living here, visited bith the Round Rock and 360 locations. Neither have failed to deliver delicious appetizers, fresh and local sourced meals, as well as a robust selection of margaritas! You’d be challenged to find a better place to drop into, great happy hour half price apps, what more do you need? Just do it! =D

We’ve been here a few times and it is definitely great! The pimento cheese is excellent. Their burgers are really good, their Cesar salad is interesting with an oil based Cesar instead of cream but still fantastic. And it is very family friendly. We’ve taken the kids, the grandparents, the great grandparents, and will definitely take friends.

Great service and a good, very filling meal. I was super psyched about the pimento cheese app. However, after they coincidentally brought us a sample I was left disappointed. We ordered the BLT for an app instead and it was very good. Dumb me thought pork belly was another name for bacon. Come to find out, it is not and I don’t like it! But it could easily be removed. The chicken fried chicken was amazing! The best flavor. I substituted the mashed potatoes for the pimento cheese au gratin potatoes. These were NOT au gratin, but rather mashed potatoes with cheese. They were just okay. My husband got the stuffed pork and he really liked it. If in the area we would come back, but it would not be our first choice.

I wish I had gone to this place sooner! I always saw this place driving up and down 35 to Georgetown, but never thought to stop. I happen to find them on the Unilocal app on a Saturday and found out they have an all you can eat Sunday brunch. They had me at all you can eat! The restaurant is farm to table and it is nice to know where my food is coming from. The fried chicken is fantastic as well as the pancake medallions. Desserts weren’t too great as I only saw a pumpkin type bread and also a type of Danish. I can only guess it was vanilla and had some cinnamon flavor to it. I didn’t want to waste my calories on eating it so I stuck to the salads, green chili Mac and fried chicken. I hope to come back soon

Eh, this place is ok… nothing to write home about. Pretty over priced for the bland food your receive.

Literal hour and a half wait? Check. Indifferent hostesses? Check. Small menu with few choices? Check. $ 18 for crab cake meal that is one crab cake that taste eerily like tuna fish on a plate with cheese? Check. We ordered pizza during the car ride home. We will not be back. This place is a turd wrapped in gold leaf.

In a matter of 2 days I went from not ever having heard of Jack Allen’s to having dinner there back to back by a unique series of events. I had searched restaurants in Round Rock to take my Aunt and Uncle out for their birthdays and anniversary and made reservations to the Round Rock location and then the day prior, my company had a dinner there. The first evening I had the Grilled Ruby Trout which was incredible. I was slightly disappointed that the menu made no reference to cilantro which is a rather controversial ingredient that I happen to think is extremely overpowering; however, outside of the cilantro misstep, I thought the dish was very tasty and the fish was very light and flaky and had crisp apples on top. The combination of trout, pecans, spinach, and apples was a perfect bite! When I returned the next day to the Round Rock location, I suggested the trout to my Aunt which she ordered and loved as well, less the cilantro again. My uncle ordered the Crunchy Catfish and Slaw, which is an appetizer but has 3.5 filet of catfish cut into strips so it was more than enough for dinner. My uncle also stated that it was the best catfish he has had in a very long time! I ordered the Dinner Feature of Bacon Wrapped Shrimp: Bacon Wrapped Shrimp Flash fried gulf shrimp Bleu cheese pan seared grit cake Grilled corn & roasted brussel relish Hickory bbq sauce I asked if there might be a different sauce that could accompany the dish as BBQ and Bleu Cheese together didn’t sound too appetizing. Unfortunately, there was not a suggested sauce so I ordered it without. Let me preface this with saying that I did enjoy my meal but there is room for improvement. Shrimp wrapped in bacon can be a challenge and this was no exception to that as the bacon was flabby in parts and the shrimp overcooked. The flavor is there and it has potential but this is a challenging dish for some to get right. The major let down for me was the bleu cheese grit cake as when I hear something has bleu cheese in it, I get excited as I am one who does enjoy the very pungent flavor but I actually had to look at the menu again once I ordered it to see if I had misread the ingredient as the presence of bleu cheese was non-existent. In addition, the grilled corn & roasted brussel relish had cilantro in it yet again so I picked out the grilled corn, apples, and the one brussel leaf I had. Overall, I would definitely suggest this restaurant but my experience has been a bit inconsistent so I would say… order the trout.

I love the chicken fried beef ribs. A casual but classy place, also meaning that you don’t get the sticker shock when you see the prices, very reasonable, especially for what you get. The amount of quality they put in small variety menu, but every dish we have had, which have been many from the their menu, are almost stunning. If I ate here everyday for a month, I don’t believe I would get tired of anything on the menu. Just don’t expect to show up on a Wednesday — Sunday night around 6 to 8pm, and just get seated, there is usually a wait, but now always, but its so worth it. I need to try the brunch.

My husband has been wanting to try Jack Allen’s, so we decided to go recently for a date night. My experience was much better this time around! The waiter made excellent suggestions, and everything was delicious from drinks to dessert. Now that I’m gluten free, we’ll have to try them again soon.

5 Stars. What did you expect? My review probably won’t give this place justice. And so many other Unilocalers have given it the reviews it deserves… I’m a little late to the game but I’ll try… Why, oh why, am I just now coming to Jack’s?! First of all, it’s a super classy and friendly place that uses farm to table ingredients(caters to all). Second, their Happy Hour is great. Not sure what time it started but we got there around 5 and it ended at 7… We ordered a few apps and a few drinks… Apps were half off and drinks were $ 1 off. They first serve you with a little chip and cheese(forgot what kind) which was totally yummy. I ordered the Smashed Guacamole(pumpkin seeds, Cotija cheese, tortilla chips) which was delicious and then we shared the Spinach Gorgonzola Ravioli(walnut pesto cream sauce, grated Parmesan chipotle purée, grilled ciabatta bread) which was superb. For drinks I had the cherry mojito and pomegranate martini. All drinks and food were made from the finest ingredient! ;) This really is a great place and one to keep going back to. I can see what all the fuss is about! ;)

Came here with some friends on Saturday night for dinner. We were promptly seated at a nice booth in the back. Our friends had been before and said to save room for dessert as its to die for so we skipped appetizers and went straight to mains. I had the steak taco’s. I wasn’t asked how I wanted them cooked and they were medium well which is a bit too cooked for my liking but nonetheless the steak had great flavor and hadn’t dried out too much. The tacos themselves were about the size of a drinks coaster and there were only 4 of them so it was pretty much impossible to use up all the steak with them. OK, I’m being a little critical here but I just moved to Round Rock from NYC so I have high standards! My fiancée had the chicken Tinga tacos and was not that impressed while our friends had the salmon which looked and tasted great(apparently) and the special Wild Boar pasta which definitely won the best dish award at our table. The portions were a good size but we managed to split their specialty desert; the blondie with vanilla ice cream which was pretty awesome. Overall great atmosphere and service and well above average food. I will definitely be back.

Our first experience with Jack Allen’s was a couple of months ago at their 360 location. We were extremely impressed and absolutely loved the farm to table fare. My husband so much so that he dubbed it one of his favorite meals in Austin. For a guy who thinks every new place I have him try is simply«alright», that’s a pretty bold statement. Their red chili fries are downright orgasmic but we didn’t order them this time because we wanted to be hungry for our entrees. Instead, I started with a cup of their soup du jour which was a hatch green chili pork stew. I forgot their version of a cup is what most consider a bowl, and it was really good and comforting on such a chilly night. I loved the addition of hominy too. My husband opted for chips and their salsa which they shake together for you table side via a cute little mason jar. Very fresh and creative. I can’t say I’ve ever seen another restaurant serve salsa that way before and uniqueness is a good trait to have. As my main dish I chose the chicken tinga tacos. There is some assembly required with these that surprisingly I was into. The chicken was well seasoned and fall apart tender. It’s served in its own dish with stewed tomatoes and cojita cheese. Next to it are 4 mini corn tortillas, a wedge of lime, guacamole, and vegetable studded cilantro rice with corn and black beans. Every element on that plate was outstanding and full of flavor. My husband was feeling more naughty so he went for the chicken fried pork chop. That thing was a monster! They served it over a bed of mashed potatoes and steamed fresh vegetables that were tossed in a yummy spice mix. He ate everything on his plate and at one point told me that if we were at home, he would already be gnawing on the pork chop bone like a dog. My fella is one classy broad y’all ;-) I’m so glad we picked Jack Allen’s for our last dinner in Austin. I sure will miss this beautiful city and all the people in it. But especially the food!!! Come on Jack, you’ve been thinking of opening a Dallas location right? If not you should! Until then, I guess we will just have to visit as often as we can. Twist my arm :-) I would also really like to try their brunch buffet.

I love Jack Allen’s Kitchen. I bring my family here, I bring my friends here. I tell anyone who isnt from Austin about it and we go here. There are several locations. I’ve only been to the Round Rock location and they are excellent. I need to try the South Austin location. The food is amazing. I always get the pemento cheese dip with bacon wrapped quail. The fish tacos are amazing. The drinks are delicious and strong. I like their wine selection and I’m pretty picky. I’ll be back soon!

Half priced apps! Drink specials! Oh my! This location is not as good as the one at the Y. I’m just gonna say it. I have been enough times to know now. Sure, sure, the cocktails are always mixed pretty much the same and you get the same give you or take you service… But the food. The food is worse here. When I have to send dishes back in a place that is supposed to have a good chef. Ugh. Give me a break please? … Right? I like a good crab cakes. Hey! I lived in Baltimore! They are probably pretty popular on your menu. Gotta make them in advance? UM Ok fine. But don’t serve it to me practically frozen in the middle. K? Thnkx! Bai! Anyways. I will come here for the awesome happy hour and cheap apps(bacon wrapped quail legs, anyone?) But, I will probably suggest dinner elsewhere.

Wife and I were doing a low key anniversary dinner and wanted something different so we have this place a shot. We were seated immediately but I was still pretty busy for a Monday night at 6:30, the place is cozy and has a nice appeal The staff was a 9 out of 10, very good not exceptional but still nothing to complain about at all They have a great local beer selection and happy hour. We took advantage of the half price apps and had the blt sliders. They were yummy, I think a good 8 of 10, if they added a kick via a sauce would be a 9. For the main course I had the special which was a pork chop stuffed with wild boar boudin on top of blue cheese mash potatoes. The dish was great! Only ding was the first chop was cold BUT the staff did a GREAT job making it right. Second ding was chop two was still not«hot» but still very good. Wife had the chicken fried chicken with mash taters and veggies. She enjoyed it a LOT Over all great food and service for a perfect price! I will be back again looking for that faith star I hope is there

Sitting outside, even after the sun goes down, was BRUTAL. I definitely was feeling the Texas heat. I think we were just unfortunate enough to get the corner table, where the fans don’t really reach you… Other than that, the experience was great! We started off with an order of the red chile fries, which were amazing! I wish I had taken a picture because they were such a bright red color. My entrée was the chorizo stuffed pork tenderloin medallions. With an order, you get three medallions, a huge serving of mashed potatoes and some veggies. I definitely took most of my meal back home with me. I’ve heard such great things about the brunch fare that I will have to put that on my list to try next. I’m not a fan of the long wait, but the food is great. I wouldn’t suggest eating outside during the hottest part of the summer either, but I chose that over waiting.
