Kind of a hippie Indian place. Not super friendly. Food is decent. A little pricey. Not transcendent, but not bad either.

Out in the middle of nowhere, somehow it seems fitting to have a Himalayan/Nepalese restaurant. Thanks to all the x-mas lights, we found the restaurant right off the highway without a problem. On a Saturday night, there weren’t too many people(about 6 – 7 full tables) but they still had some live guitar music playing for the patrons. For dinner, we ordered the brahman khana(vegetarian combo meal) which included: suruwa(tomato soup), bhat(basmati rice), tarkari(cauliflower potato curry), chyau Karau(mushroom and peas cooked in a creamy sauce), dal(lentils), nan(white bread baked in clay oven), papad(sun dried lentil cracker), mango chutney, raita(yoghurt with veggies and spices), kheer(rice pudding) and masala tea for only $ 15.25. Thinking it wouldn’t be enough food(foolish!) we also ordered the kukhura ko ledo(Nepalese boneless chicken cooked in fresh garlic, ginger and onion sauce) for $ 11.25.(And no, I don’t have some superhuman memory… the menu is posted on their website!) We should have just stuck with the veggie combo as it was almost too much food. But regardless, the meal was quite delicious. My favorite was the cauliflower curry. The chicken was good too, but I just wasn’t in the mood for chicken. I substracted a star because I have had better. But for being out in the middle of nowhere, it’s good enough. Overall, if you’re in Gold Country and you’re looking for some food with lots of flavor and spice to counter-balance all the greasy diner joints, then you’ll be quite pleased here. Oh yeah, they also have a lunch buffet for $ 7.95. Didn’t try it but I’m guess it’s pretty good too!
