Love the Mellow! I caved on my gluten free streak and had 2 slices of my daughters regular cheese pizza — couldn’t help it. They do have very good gluten free pizza as well — I’ve had that on prior outings. The steak n cheese sub is awesome — perhaps a little more steak is needed but overall a darn good sub for our Philadelphia brethren. Always good service from the Mellowians. Very good beer and wine selection. Plenty of sports on the TVs. And it doesn’t smell like dirty mold water like another restaurant nearby that starts with Taco and ends with Mac. Oh, and the kids love the pretzels too. I look at those gluten magic heaven rolls from afar… maybe the next visit I will break my gluten streak on them.

Several months ago we got take out and it was less than desirable. I made a comment on Unilocal and immediately received response from management. Was very impressed with them reaching out and we have recently gotten take out twice. Both times fantastic delicious food. Thanks management for getting us back into your restaurant. We will continue to to enjoy your food.

My wife and I frequent this Mellow Mushroom fairly often. As far as pizza places in the area go in my opinion Mellow Mushroom is the best. I am very particular to the philosophers pie and my wife really enjoys the Greek salad. we really haven’t had a bad pizza here. Beer and drink selection is more extensive than you would think for a pizza joint. We have never had bad service and the wait staff is very friendly and proficient. Lastly while we have had to wait a few minutes once or twice we generally can get in without any wait at all.

I took my four year old niece here for dinner. They offer a decent amount of options on the kids menu. She had the kids macaroni and cheese, which comes with a choice of apples or broccoli and a drink. She ate every last bite of the pasta. It looked like it was homemade — not the box kind. I had a delicious Greek salad that was very fresh and contained a lot of feta cheese. The Greek dressing was creamy and very tasty. I also ordered a small Holy Shiitake Pie, which has mushrooms, cheese, garlic aioli and fresh chives. It was very good but they were a little skimpy on the mushrooms. I love mushrooms and I wanted more of them on my pizza. I felt like the ratio of toppings to crust was a bit off. Too much crust for me. I also didn’t like the fact that they don’t offer crayons for kids anymore. This is supposed to be a kid friendly restaurant so bring back the crayons!

Although I’ve dined in maybe a couple times throughout the last few years, the majority of my experiences with this location have been through take-out service. We tend to order around 2 – 4 large pies for my family to split. They’ve always finished the pies on time as quoted, and the quality has been consistently great, especially the Magical Mystery Tour. Although it’s a bit on the expensive side for pizza, you definitely get your money’s worth here. I only wish I had the opportunity to come by here more often.

Came here around 4pm and we were the only table there so the service was really good. Our server was very nice and helpful. Appetizers came out quickly and the bbq chicken speciality pizza was very delicious.

Pizza and service were great. Unfortunately I couldn’t enjoy either one due to the COLD air in the dining room. After asking them to turn up the heat or turn off the a/c we were told that a few days ago someone bumped the thermostat and it doesn’t work anymore. The repair man can’t get here until after Christmas!!! This is no way to run a business. Guests should not freeze during dinner. I really did like the pizza but after my first slice the rest was cold. Sorry but this has put a bad taste in my mouth for any Mellow Mushroom. Too bad for them.

I love the various choices of pizza and other food at Mellow Mushroom. We travel from Cumming to visit relatives and always stop here to have lunch or dinner. Great place! The servers are very friendly too.

Great pizza with large portions, awesome calzones, delicious salads, and outstanding pretzels. Love that they use some healthier ingredients here and the vibe you get when you walk in. Consistently good food. Service is a little slow sometimes, but they tend to be crowded and have indoor and outdoor seating. This is a great place for a group, families, or to get take out from. If you get a chance sit inside the tree! Their crust is definitely one of my favs!

Love their 5 dollar slice salad and drink. Love their mushroom soup. Service was fantastic. Can’t say enough good things about this cool pizza place.

MM never lets us down. Great crust and divinely fresh and flavorful pizzas. I had the Holy Shitake and others had the cheese pizza and portabella and cheese hot hoagie on french. Everything was very good and Asia, our server, made it even more pleasurable.

Love the crust, never soggy. The salads are excellent, especially the salad dressings(Esperanza — love it). The only thing that keeps me from going as often as I would like is the wait staff, they appear to be wishing they were anywhere else but working. Service can be very slow if they are in the mood to chat with one another so I never go when I am real hungry.

Mellow Mushroom is one of my favorite pizza places. The pizza is simply fantastic. I haven’t been to this location in a while, and apparently they were overwhelmed by a very large party before we got there tonight. It had a significant effect on the service at the beginning of our visit. It was difficult to get a drink while we were waiting. We were served food before we were given plates. We were given plates before we were given napkins and silverware. It was a little chaotic. But then I started eating the pizza, and I didn’t care so much about the other stuff. It’s just good.

Food here is your expected Mellow Mushroom awesomeness. If that’s all you care about, read no further. However, location and heavy to-go orders always perplex me about this particular MM. Looks massive from the outside, but weird entrance over off Westwind(at Chevron /Steak n Shake) with a driveway that snakes back behind the little Chevron strip mall. Upon entering, what looked massive from the outside is actually a quite tiny dining area. Large outdoor seating, but bar is in a weird angle off to the corner. I see more people come in for take-out orders than I see sit and stay. Not sure why that is. Every other Mellow Mushroom I’ve been in has a strong attendance and pretty routine waits. This place is always empty when I’m there. This part of residential Roswell is just weird like that. I’m sure post school activities it is slammed, but routine nights not-so-much. That said, nary a complaint about the food or service. Just doesnt have that chillax, hippy, Mellow ‘shroomin vibe I’m used to enjoying at other locations.

The menu has changed and my favorite Tortilla Soup is no longer an option. Our last visit was also marred by poor service. The server was more interested in getting our money and getting us out despite half the restaurant being empty and no one waiting for a table. I didn’t get a single refill except at the very end when she asked«would you like a to-go refill?» They are also changing the atmosphere to appeal more to children with a balloon sculptor and video gaming, which made for a noisier environment considering all the hard surfaces. They are losing their unique and appealing aspects so it will be harder to select them over a competitor. Looking back at my previous review, and considering other recent trips, the service problems persist and are worthy of a rating downgrade.

There are reasons for the 3 stars… and it is not the food. OK… Went there to meet my brother and wife for a pizza and some brews! It was a nice night so we sat out on the patio… we were enjoying ourselves and relaxing. there were a few families with kids and they too were having a good time. Then a band decided to start playing music… they were good… but in the words of Huey Lewis in Back to the Future. «Im affraid they were just too darn loud». tables actually got up and moved inside… some of the tables that were just seated actually got up and left. A few of the tables tried to stand their ground on the patio and just moved farther away… i told the waitress but nothing happened… the musicans kept playing DMB. We couldn’t have a conversation. so we skipped the second pitcher of beer and dessert. and left… add that to the tables that just flat out left. and I say that the band cost MM about $ 300.00.

This Mellow Mushroom gets 4 stars for the restaurant itself, but Mellow’s food only gets 3 stars overall; sorry Chap, but it’s the food that you go out for. This location is big, inviting, lively and full of patrons. We went on a Friday at 7pm and were seated after about 25 minutes. It wasn’t a problem to get a beer at the bar while waiting, and I pleasantly found SweetWater Festive Ale on draught. They had some other goodies from Terrapin and Bell’s Brewery, too. Our server was a lively young man who happily took our order and quickly came back with beverages. You could tell all the servers were busy, but he managed to keep his cool and never rushed us. The two pizza’s we ordered were a 16″ Hawaiian pizza and a 14″ Pepperoni and Sausage. Both came out fairly quickly and were tasty. I liked the meaty pie better; there’s something about sweet fruit on a pizza that doesn’t taste right to me(and I worked at a gourmet pizza restaurant!). The pizzas were up to Mellow Mushroom standards: Intensely heavy dough, a thick crust with butter and Parmesan, gobs of pizza cheese, and a nicely distributed array of generic Sysco brand ingredients. The pizzas are good – you’ll gobble them down – but I like seeing high quality meats and funky ingredients on my pizza. I could always go to Domino’s if I want run-of-the-mill toppings. There are better dine-in pizza restaurants(e.g. Hearth Pizza Tavern, Antico’s) but this place is good for families and get-togethers. The beer selection is good, the service is good, and the food is good. You’ll get what you order. My big problem here is probably the dough. It’s just way too thick for me, and I always feel bloated after eating their pies. I’ll probably come back here if I’m in the area to meet friends and I don’t feel like Taco Mac or Chili’s… Oh yeah! There’s a really cool tree in the back corner of the dining room. You’ll probably feel like a mafia leader(w/kids in tow) sitting at the private booth in the tree, if you’re lucky enough to sit there.

I’m usually a lover of Mellow Mushroom and have been to many different locations. However something seemed awry when I walked in here. The walls were baren of the usual unusual paintings and general hippie atmosphere. Gone were the men with the hemp hats, apparently they had been replaced with staff from the Gap. If you don’t have kids or just can’t stand the booming high pitched shrieks of children echoing across the large open floorplan then look to other Mellows. While drafting this review I’ve had at least two children come stomping in front of my booth — ’nuff said. So, I wrote the original draft of this review while at Mellow. Now after finishing my meal I can add some more fun details. After waiting for over 45 minutes for a small pizza and calzone, note there were only 6 tables occupied, they came out to tell us that the calzone was done but they had made the wrong pizza for me. They then asked if I «wouldn’t just eat the one they made» — wow. After another 15+ minutes of waiting they showed back up at the table with the pizza I ordered. A simple cheese pizza with buffalo chicken on top. The pizza was hastily made and barely had any toppings on it, and the cheese calzone — which is usually cheesy and delicious — had more dough then cheese. The only thing that brought them from one to two stars is the fact that my meal was gratis.
