Athens Greek Restaurant

Very good food and friendly staff. My wife and I eat here at least once a week. I’d give it five stars but they stopped selling beer in 2016.

I can’t say enough positives about Athens Greek Restaurant. The Gyro wrap or Gyro plate is definitely the way to go and I highly recommend the Greek potatoes over french fries. The tzatziki sauce is self-​serve and is deliciously addictive. The owners and staff members are wonderful and very friendly. Their lunch specials are a super bargain and you won’t have to wait long for your food.

Tzatziki sauce is self serve, need I say more. I got the gyro wrap and the steak fries, guy @ the counter was super nice. Baklava was awesome! Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get, they have been in business over 20 yrs and I see why. I will be back !!!

Discovered this place about 13 years ago. The best gyro around then and now. I am pleased that this restaurant still serves up the best gyro, greek fries and tzatziki sauce around. the only change I have noticed over the years is that you can now serve your own tzatziki sauce so you don’t feel so bad one you asked for so many extra cups to dip your fries in.

Past this place hundreds of time… what a mistake! Should have stopped along time ago. Had the Gyro & Greek fries, Terrific. You order at the counter and pick it up when your number is called. Friendly service. And quick. We came in the evening, so the place was quiet. But a steady stream of people; lots of regulars because the owner spoke to them by name. I am going to make this my regular Gyro go to place. You should to.

Friendly staff and good food. The menu was fair prices and the portions were large. The restaurant is also kid friendly and had menu choices for everyone in our 5 person family.

My family has been coming to this place for years. We absolutely love it! Everything I have tried is amazing, and I love that it is family run. This restaurant is their heart and soul and it shows in their service and quality of their food. Very reasonable prices as well… but they do not take American Express!

We call this place: Mamanopulus
It is awesome and the owners are very sweet, especially «Mama». She makes you feel like you are coming to her house for lunch and she talks to you with the coolest Greek accent.
The food is delicious. You can’t never go wrong with the gyros but make sure you ask for the Greek potatoes. They are thick and crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside and seasoned with lots of herbs. Their Tzatziki sauce is great and you can put it on everything that gets in front of your fork.

Hidden gem! I don’t know why it has taken me over 5 years to try this place. Went for dinner and it was fantastic with very reasonable prices. The service was great as it is family run. Anytime I crave a Gryo and Greek food I will be coming here.

WITH ONLY MINUTES TO SPARE…
My daughter and I were approaching exit 7 from 400 North and were looking for something to eat. We ruled out Mexican, Chinese and the typical fried food options that tend to be very prevalent in the area so we had to rely on our Yadar ( Unilocal radar), for direction. This restaurant popped up and we realize that it was going to be closing very soon, (3pm). We ran into this restaurant with 15 minutes until closing. The little lady who took our order was very gracious and did not appear rushed at all. I was more concerned than she was and had planned to just take the order to go. However, she asked if we wanted to eat in and we did. I ordered the lunch which consisted of a traditional gyro fully dressed and steak potatoes while my daughter chose the philly cheese steak and onion rings. Before I even stepped away from the counter, my order was delivered piping hot. My daughter needed to wait a bit for her rings but in the mean time, we shared the fries.
Those fries are definitely what I would call «man fries» as they are very substantial and quite filling. As a matter of fact, I would only order them to share because they are really too much for me to eat with a gyro. I am more of a grazer than a «wham bam!» eater. The gyro was fresh and delicious and the bread was pleasantly warm and tender without that «warmed in the microwave» taste and texture.
My daughter’s sandwich was hot and tasty and her rings were perfectly crispy and super hot.
The ambiance was casual, colorful and comfortable. We really appreciated being able to slide in at the last minute, having our order prepared with care and kindness and being allowed to eat in even as they were closing up shop.
A nice new option for my gyro cravings. Yay!

Best gyros ever!!! The service here is always consistent. It is family owned and I love to be able to support a small family owned a business. The prices are very reasonable.

Good customer service and full of patrons, but don’t get the falafel. It’s the worst falafel I’ve ever had. I may try again and get the chicken plate or chicken wrap.

Great food done quickly and fresh. Gyro is not too dry like most and Feta is fresh and flavorful. Menu not real deep but good.

This place has been bookmarked for the longest time, but I finally got the opportunity to go here. Went here with a friend for lunch last last Friday, and I found this place to be quite cozy. The cashier was friendly as she pointed out various items to order. BTW, you first order at the counter then pick up the food when it’s called over the speakers.
The late lunch crowd here was pretty decent so the place seems to be popular enough. The souvlaki (pork) wrap was pretty tasty. The meat portions were pretty generous. The sauce gave it flavor and made it messy as you try to take a bite into this huge wrap; even my friend was full at the end.
The baklava wasn’t super overwhelmingly sweet. When you bite into it, you can taste the sweet syrup, but it wasn’t overwhelmingly sweet. Pretty good I must say. My friend would beg to differ since he said this place wasn’t as comparable as the place near his house.
Overall, a cute place for a decent price and amount of food. A customer said everything on their menu was good. She had heard me comment about how I wanted to try the burger but thought otherwise since this was more of a Mediterranean place. Perhaps I will visit here again on another lunch outing.
Parking was pretty plentiful since this complex wasn’t super popular even though it’s huge.

Exactly what you would expect from a family owned Greek spot in Alpharetta.
In a very old ‘no name’ strip shopping center on Hwy 9 & Mansell Rd.
The service is amazingly speedy, the food is fresh & yummy & so reasonably priced it’s crazy.
Like many of the reviews, you don’t come here for the ambiance, you come for very good food, quickly served, the pleasant service & Greek food.. I have lived in many of our country’s major food cities & this is a keeper absolutely worth a visit soon. Very loyal crowd.

Lived in Roswell for three years and never noticed this was in the same plaza as the Roswell Post Office. Family run and the food comes out pretty fast. Tried the gyro plate and it was pretty darn good. Pita was fresh and warm and the fries were good.
I admit that I never gave this place a second look because the Roswell Post Office plaza is a bit sketchy. Worth a try if you are in the area.

YES. Why did it take me over FOUR years to visit this place?
I’ve always passed this place and never gave it a second thought until recently. We visited on a rainy, cold night and left planning our next trip back.
This is a no-​frills establishment. You can tell it’s family owned and needs updating. The fake plants around the restaurant are all dusty and they are rocking art from the 1996 Olympics. The chairs scrap against the floor and the booths have lost their cushioniness.
But I didn’t come for ambiance, I came for food. In the same no-​frills manner, ordering is simple and obvious. There is no doubt how the system works when you enter. You order at the counter and grab your food when it’s ready. It’s like Zaxby’s.
I ordered the souvlaki plate and the husband ordered the gyro plate. We also ordered two fountain drinks and a small thing of baklava. It came to about $ 25.
We found a table by the window and waited for our food. in 5 minutes we were called to get our order. YES.
Souvlaki plate — pork, sliced pita break, Greek potatoes and a Greek Salad.
^ Exactly what I wanted. Served on disposable plate with disposable silverware, the presentation isn’t Ritz-​quality. I destroyed the Greek salad first. Crisp lettuce, fresh sliced tomatoes and feta cheese– what’s not to love? The pork was cooked perfectly, not too dry and not too chewy. I made little sandwiches with the pita and house-​made tzatziki sauce.
Gyro plate — sliced lamb with sliced pita bread, Greek potatoes and a Greek Salad.
^ Such a typical order for my husband. He considers himself privvy to Greek food knowledge and was pleasantly surprised with his meal. He practically licked his plate clean.
Baklava — sticky, sweet and coated in honey. We couldn’t finish the two pieces we ordered, so we took it home. It went well with a glass of milk.
We’ve been back twice already and we’ll probably go back this week!
