Went there around 8:00 on a Monday night with two other people. We started off with the calamari as an appetizer, which was very tasty. I got the Amazing Burger, which was good, cooked to the right temperature. It was however very greasy, more so than a usual burger I would say. The server was okay, didn’t know the answer to one of our questions and wasn’t very polite or apologetic when one of our burgers came out incorrectly. Overall, it was an okay experience, but we probably won’t be going back.

Not in a hurry to return. We made a reservation for Saturday evening, prior to heading over to one of The art galleries down the street. We were a party of six, arriving early for dinner. When we arrive, the restaurant, they seated us right next to the kitchen, slammed like sardines into a booth. In fact, there was a large room in the back with many open tables. Not a good start. Things did not get much better after that. The waitstaff seem to be overburdened, serving tables scattered throughout the restaurant. While our waitress hustled and was attentive, our service was initially slow — not her fault. We ordered our food, a combination of appetizers and entrées. Here is where things fell apart. Issues are below: 1. Our dishes were either scorching or cold. And I mean singe your mouth or icy fridge cold. The meatballs and ravioli were the worse cold offenders, while the oysters and mussels were very hot. It’s obvious the kitchen was uncoordinated. 2. One of our party ordered the special — sea bass. It was basically flavorless, served on an uninspired scoop of mashed spuds. And for a whopping $ 33.00!!! Ouch! Never again. 3. The other flavors were good, not great. This is underscored by how good the catered food from a nearby restaurant happened to be at the neighboring gallery, sampled right after dinner. 4. The dining experience was uncomfortable. The A/C was off when we arrived, on a 90+ degree day, we could feel it when it intermittently turned on. We had the displeasure of being next to the hot and noisy kitchen. And we were 6 adults crammed into a booth. Sweaty and awful. 5. Overpriced. Especially for slightly upscale pub food and their«specials.» 6. Stick with the oysters and mussels, which were fairly priced and tasty. 7. I wonder about their health rating.(I cannot find it online, btw.). The men’s room was filthy, obviously not having been asker iced in a while. Moreover, we got a good look at the kitchen from out cramped booth — it had food all over the floor, food on the counters, and looked unkempt. Yuk. We guess this is a good local bar. We guess people like it for drinks, oysters, and a few appetizers. Maybe their food is served hot. We had a different experience, though. No hurry to return… If ever.

My husband and I had dinner there and it was good but expensive. Then we had lunch there. My husband got the beet and watermelon salad. There were about 4 pieces of lettuce, 3 round pieces of watermelon(3″ in diameter about ¼″ thick), and two beets — $ 8.95. It was a side salad at best. I got the turkey sandwich — that was okay, but the fries that were with it were so salty I could not eat them. My husband asked for some bread which never came and my iced tea was never refilled. I’d skip it for lunch.

Sunday afternoon visit… Sat outside(with our puppy). Service was stellar, food was great! I had New Orleans shrimp and grits… it was very good. Finished it off with a crème brûlée and coffee. They also had very nice live music. Great afternoon. I’ve been to most of the Canton street establishments — 1920 stands up against the competition. We will will go back!

We had such a fun date night and our first time at 1920 made the night all that much better! When you go make it a priority to ask for Patrick, he’s amazing and spent extra time talking to us about the menu and making the perfect drink and wine recommendations! Full menu with lots of options for everyone. So much fun, add it to your next night out for sure!

HOTDAMN!!! I’m so happy to write this review after having such an amazing meal in a great spot. This was my first time at 1920 and my first time eating in Roswell. This place nails it on every single level. Every aspect of time and effort shows in this restaurant. Every detail feels right and 1920 just simply made me happy. I couldn’t help but say it over and over again how perfect this restaurant was. Here we go… It’s around 4pm on a sunny Saturday afternoon in May and the people are strolling along Canton St. So, we park at the top of the block and start to stroll along like everyone else. We are a group of four; my wife, our 4 year-old daughter, my father-in-law and myself. As usual, our daughter has to go potty and 1920 is the first spot we come across. The outside tables are buzzing and the hostess is posted up outside on the sidewalk. Looks like a nice place to eat lets look at the menu. My daughter REALLY had to go potty NOW daddy… so I take her inside to use the restroom while they look over the menu. At first entrance, it was funny. The outside was packed with people, and the inside was empty. Everyone wanted to eat outside on this beautiful day and people were willing to wait for a table outside when there were plenty of tables inside. The stark difference between outside and inside was just funny to me. My daughter and I walked past the long open bar on the right and a bunch of large booths on the left. Standing in the bathroom while waiting for my daughter, I noticed all the little details to this old building. It has the old black and white floor tiles, the industrial hardware and white subway tiles on the walls. It had old black and white pictures of this building from the very very old days. I just looked around and said, wow, this place was nicely decorated. As we came out of the bathroom, I had time to notice the large party room in the back and the interesting lighting fixtures back there. I came forward and looked around and everything just seemed to be done right. I even mentioned to the bartender how impressed I was with the aesthetic of the place. I felt like it had been there for over 100 years. It felt like an old historic Manhattan bar from downtown. Anyways… In the mood for a chicken club sandwich, I headed back outside to see what my wife and father-in-law thought of the menu. I looked at the menu myself and sure enough, there it was… chicken club sandwich. It seemed like a sign so I said lets do it. There were no tables available right now outside so the hostess sat us at the first booth inside. I was fine with that because I wanted my wife to see what this place looked like inside. The hostess asked my daughter if she would like some crayons and a coloring page to draw on and that made my daughter happy and kept her busy for a while. The waiter came over almost immediately and started going over things. He was genuinely interested in our day and what brought us to Roswell this afternoon. He described some kind of white wine, lime, seltzer drink on ice and how perfect it is on a hot summer day and it sounded so good we ordered two. They were delicious. Then he came back and took our orders. I told him how much I liked the place so far and I that hope the food doesn’t let me down. My wife had the Fried Green Tomatoes. My father-in-law had a burger and while I was looking at the chicken club sandwich I always like to ask what the waiter recommends. He answer was… well, you can pretty much get a chicken club sandwich anywhere so… Our BBQ Short Rib sandwich is AMAZING and our Reuben is equally good and everyone is ordering it. I noticed one passing as he said that. He couldn’t really help me choose between the two because he agreed that they were both his favorites and you can’t go wrong with either of them. I went with the Reuben. It was PERFECTION!!! The bread was thin enough that it crisps just right in the press. The dressing had just the slightest hint of pickle in it the sauerkraut was perfect and the house french fries were DELICIOUS. Not too thick. They take a potato and press it down through this machine and out come ¼″ fries. mmm mmm MMMM. Then theres a fat pickle half sitting on the side. The waiter came over a bunch of times because we kept engaging him in conversation and he told us all about the town, the river and the old building. I told him how impressed I was with this entire experience. From the atmosphere to the food to the cocktails to the friendliness of the people. They hit a homerun with this place and they should be seriously proud of themselves. My father-in-law aka the pickiest food critic in the world said his burger was really really good and my wife said she liked her dish as well. But me… maaaaaan… I’m still talking about this place. I even had to go to the back and tell the chef what a great job they were doing back there. I’ll be back for sure!!!

Have nothing but good things to say about this spot. Some may find it a bit pricey but it’s comparable to the area. Service, food, drinks(raspberry sangria), and atmosphere are superb. Appetizer: fried green tomatoes Entrees: Chef Chilis Penne Arrabiata & Mediterranean Style Salmon

First walked into the door was just kind of stared at. No one really came to greet us. Bartender could of just gave a friendly hello but just looked at us and kept talking to her patron. Didn’t feel too much of a welcoming atmosphere. After the host saw us we were then greeted with some warmth. Sat outside. Pretty waitress took our order. She was pretty prompt with refilling our drinks. On to the food. Appetizer, we got the ordered duck empanadas then Kobe beef hamburger without cheese. My boyfriend ordered the tenderloin steak sandwich. The duck empanadas came out two for 10 bucks. Kind of pricy. The duck was dry on the inside especially for being such a fatty meat. The Kobe beef came with 4 small pieces of mushroom which was disappointing. The patty needed more seasoning. I could still taste the water from the defrost. Overall it was an alright burger. Could of been better for a Kobe. It also came with fries which were on the greasy side. My bf sandwich on the other hand was awesome. The bread was toasted nicely and the fried onions added a nice crunch with the tenderloin. I enjoyed the bite I had from his more than my own. This is why I give it even 3 stars. I would come back for this sandwich and of course the good service we got from our waitress. Update! As I was writing this my bf ordered dessert, peanut butter bar. I’m not even a fan of peanut butter but it was delicious. There was bacon on top of the bar. It gave a sweet and salty taste with a little crunch. This redeemed itself one star. I would definitely be back for the tenderloin sandwich and dessert and leave a happy camper.

Excellent dining experience. I tried several items from the small plate menu and everything was fantastic. I was sitting at the bar and and like me everyone around me wiped their plate clean. Food was top notch. And the best part of dining here was my bartender Tracie. She is the best in Roswell. I will most definitely be back.

As I sat in the booth with two of my friends, I thought …“I’ve been here before!” Actually, this time I liked 1920 better than the last. We split a bottle of the house chardonnay and each ordered a sandwich. Mine was the corned beef Rueben. The accompanying fries were over-salted and somewhat limp, but the sandwich had a good serving of meat, the marble rye was tasty — definitely a sandwich I would get again. My friends both ordered the salmon BLT, which they would recommend. While the menu is still similar to other places on the strip, 1920 is inching up the scale; now I give it 3.35 stars!

I have yet to eat here, but the experience I had over the phone with manager Jeremy has been nothing but spectacular. I work with a corporate company and I had made reservations about a week in advance for a large group to reserve the back room at 1920 Tavern. I had Jeremy create a special set menu for us and a set drink menu for us. He specifically took on responsibility for making our group feel right at home. Last minute we had to cancel our dinner meeting(literally 15 minutes before hand) and I was so nervous to call considering that I have worked in restaurants myself and that is a pretty large blow to the night. I called Jeremy and he was very understanding and kind, noting that some things were previously prepared we would need to pay for but otherwise it would be okay. I asked if we could reschedule for the next night knowing this was a shot in hell and he asked if he could call me back so he could take a look. He called me 5 minutes later that they would be able to work something out for us. This right here saved me so much time, worry, and anxiety about having to reschedule this big event. He was very understanding and kind to me over the phone and did not let me feel bad about having to reschedule. The sales team said nothing but great things about the wait staff and the food was«excellent» Jeremy I appreciate your staff and yourself for making my job easier! Thanks so much!

I was here for a work holiday party/dinner and it was a great evening. The wait staff was attentive and on top of their game. The food was great. I had the twin filets and the cognac sauce that went with it was amazing. It’s hard to find a good steak, even at steak houses but the steak here was delicious. The mac n cheese was also incredible. Will definitely come back next time I’m in Roswell.

LOVE this place. Any time I have family or friends in town this is where we go. Pick any thing on the menu and it will be wonderful. The service is just as good as the food. Best wine selection out of anywhere OTP. Also they make a mean vodka martini! From apps to drinks to the meal to the overwhelming dessert it is always a fantastic meal! Cannot wait to go back!

Yum! Drinks were great and food was divine! Service was impeccable and the staff is hip and attractive. I had the short rib and my hubs had the lamb shank, we almost both licked our plates! Outside heaters let us enjoy the evening outside in late November and you can’t beat«real housewives of Roswell» watching on Canton Street! Yay! I was a huge fan of INC. And had eaten here several times in the past. Tonight the food, drinks, and service was just yummy!

We attended this restaurant while visiting friends in our old neighborhood. When we lived in Roswell, just north of the old town, it was very nice, but not trendy or busy. Now, it has totally changed and is both busy and trendy. We selected 1920 based on the menu and location in the heart of the old city. First, the drinks were excellent. My wife and our friend had the house Bloody Mary, a colossal drink in a fishbowl. Expensive, but a hit with these ladies. I had one of the craft beers available on tap, which was very good. For dinner, the fish tacos were very good, the mussels outstanding. I tried the ribeye steak and would highly suggest selecting something else. It was the thinnest ribeye I have ever been served. The taste was good, but it was a horrible value. It came with mashed potatoes with blue cheese chunks on top, a very unappetizing dish. My wife had Crème brûlée for dessert. It was really outstanding. Do not miss it. Overall, it was very fun, with excellent drinks and a few recommendable dishes to eat.

First off, Sydney was our server and she was delightful! She convinced me to try the special which was Italian sausage with grilled multicolor bell peppers and grapes over rigatoni with a red sauce. It was fantastic. I went in wanting steak. My wife had this dry rub chicken served on a bed of 3 cheese Mac and cheese with flash fried Brussel sprouts and that was incredible too. We finished off with a vanilla bean crème Brule with a blueberry compote topping that was awesome. A wonderful meal with a great server!

Great little place in downtown Roswell. We had a booth directly across from the serving window, so it was a bit busy with servers walking by, but honestly not too bad and completely tolerable. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes and wine offerings. I ordered a glass for my husband and one for myself of the Chardonnay she recommended, and we liked it so much she was kind enough to bring the bottle and sell us the bottle instead of by the glass. Additionally, my husband has multiple food allergies and she was totally understanding and it was no big deal to sub a few items. He had the spice rubbed chicken which he described as a good flavor and tender, but probably could have been cooked just a little longer so it would fall off the bone. I had the mahi mahi over goat cheese potatoes and spinach. It was flavorful but not too heavy. My daughter had the goat cheese ravioli special and she absolutely loved it. Our other daughter had the pear salad, which had good flavors with candied walnuts, but the spiced poached ear was served cold o. The salad which seem odd. It would have been so much better warm and freshly poached. Start with the fried green tomatoes. Delish!

My husband and I had dinner here after noticing the restaurant had changed it’s name and theme again. I had the grilled Mahi Mahi and he had the Mediterranean Salmon and we also had the calamari appetizer. I’m not very good at judging the freshness of calamari but it was seasoned well and fried well. The fish however was PERFECT! It was obviously fresh with just enough seasoning to enhance the freshness but it wasn’t bland. I had double vegetables instead of the potatoes that came with it and that was just right. The serving sizes are just right and the service is pretty quick after you are seated. I’d advise you to make a reservation to avoid a wait because the place is tiny so it doesn’t take much to fill it up. Go check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Shrimp tacos app 5 stars, Short rib sandwich 5 stars, grilled cheese with bacon 3 stars. Not sure how anything with bacon could be so average… But everything else was amazing… Including the service! Love this area and can’t wait to go back to try more. Everything on the menu looked good! Overall great lunch!

I ordered the Kobe beef burger and an Inc. Margarita. The burger was good(not great) and way overpriced. The margarita was very good but also very overpriced. Overall this place is cool but you would get more bang for your buck if you went somewhere else. There are plenty of better options on Canton street.

We decided to try Tavern 1920 because it seemed like a low-key place to have dinner being that we were dressed down after installing a couple barn doors. We sat outside so we could enjoy the street traffic. Mirela was our server and she was fantastic! We ordered the Ahi tuna app and split the trout entrée. The portions were generous; the picture of the trout is only half a serving. That was A LOT of food! We finished up with the goat cheese pound cake at Mirela’s suggestion and it was excellent! And I don’t like cake that much! Looking forward to our next meal here.

I took my fiancé here for our monthly dinner. Roswell is such a beautiful area and this was our first time at 1920. We started off with the Oysters Rockefeller and shared a bottle of the Avalon Cabernet. For dinner I had the Nawlin’s Shrimp & Grits, which tends to be my go to when I see it on the menu. My fiancé had the Blackened Mahi Mahi. Then, for dessert we had the Peanut Butter Chocolate Bar. We were pleased with everything we picked, the food did not disappoint! Vanessa did an amazing job taking care of us! I know we will be back.

Not a bad place for a beer although haven’t been really impressed by the food. Right in the heart of Canton so fun place for a round and a shot when bar hopping in historic Roswell. For some reason though, every time I go in here the bar area seems a little smelly. Not sure what the deal is with that. Fun and friendly staff.

[TL;DR] Go on a Monday. Why? Half-off bottles of wine. We had the pleasure of a private dining experience. We were one of the crazy ones that went when it was supposed to snow. All it did was rain. Everyone stayed home though. It was great! Oversized booths, dark wood, and painted up mirrors define the atmosphere here. It’s broken-in luxury, in a way. It’s like an old, leather-bound book. Our waitress was amazing. She really knew her food. If only I remembered her name! Everything we ordered was based on her recommendation which was quite on point. The SPINACHANDARTICHOKEDIP was very tasty, served with crispy toast. Rather small though to share between more than two people. Your waistline might appreciate that. We tried the BLACKENEDMAHIMAHI which is served with a goat cheese potato purée as they call it. Looks and tastes like mashed potatoes. :o) The fish was cooked tenderly and seasoned delicately. Not really my thing, honestly. I prefer fish that has more flavor. The crowning achievement of the night was the SHORTSMOKEDDRYRUBBEDCHICKEN. This is the thing you come here for and that which you will remember of the place.(Not the burger, the meatballs, the steak, the fish, the charcuterie, the oysters, etc.) This is what you need to get. It comes on a bed of triple cream mac and cheese mixed with crispy brussels sprouts. The creaminess pairs very well with the dry rub. They have a pretty impressive selection of whisky, including one of my favorite scotches — Highland Park. HOWTOREADMYREVIEWS: 1 Star — Not edible. 2 Stars — If I’m in the area, I’d pick something else. 3 Stars — I would stop by if I happen to be in the area. 4 Stars — I would pick this place out of other places nearby. 5 Stars — I would go out of my way to dine here.

Located on Canton Street. Seating indoors is most bench, with tables at the back. Their is bar seating. There is seating outside. Sat at the bar, ordered the Farrotto off the lunch menu. Wasn’t too fond of this dish. Nice looking place — I’ll have to come back and try another dish. Good bar selection

:: : Burger review: : : August 24th, 2013 — We set out on another Burger Tour across the city looking to taste some of the best burgers Metro Atlanta has to offer. Stop #3 on our tour brought us to the vibrant restaurant scene on Canton Street in Roswell Georgia. If you are a foodie, Canton Street and all of Roswell should be a bookmarked destination in your food adventure journal. I’ve been to parts of Roswell many times over the years, but today made me envious of it’s residents. How lucky are they to be within walking distance to such an eclectic restaurant district OVERFLOWING with character and charm. It’s an overload for the senses as the air has the fragrance of delicious foods, sounds of music, gorgeously renovated homes and a festival like crowd of people eagerly looking to experience the local offerings. It is truly easy to get sidetracked as you pass patio after patio of people enjoying a vast array of foods, but we were on a mission and stayed true to our designated course. — — — — — - — - — - THEEXPERIENCE Walking in the doors of Opulent kinda fells like a step back in time. While the bar looks very modern, the entire FEEL of the space seem to harken you back to the 20’s, and not just because of the Charlie Chaplin photo’s. The pattern of the wall tiles, the worn look of the dark paints, the aged surface of the mirrors and the corridor to the back room that made me feel like I was a VIP Mob Boss being seated in a private dining room. The table setup, napkins and menu were elegant in a way that I could image men in our group dressed in wide pinstriped suites and mirror polished shoes while picturing the ladies in shaker dresses complete with vintage hats, feathery shawls and elbow-length white gloves. We should do a short B&W film for our next tour :-) Service was like clockwork! Our burgers arrived so quickly we all seemed to be surprised and caught off guard. However, the fact that they took the liberty to split all the burgers and bring them on separate plates(complete with fries) without our asking was truly impressive and thoughtful. I really can’t say thank you enough to our server Kristina for the precision that make this experience seamless. — — — — — - — - — - THEFOOD The Amazing Burger(that’s right, it’s actually named that) was indeed worthy of it’s name. The first bite left me uncertain, but as the flavors washed over my taste buds, each bite got progressively better. The wonderfully seasoned Masami American Kobe beef and delicious Gruyère cheese alone were enough to make the burger incredible, but the roasted Shiitake mushroom and garlic aioli brought a dimension to the burgers flavor that lingered long after I swallowed. I literally savored EVERY bite down to my last. — — — — — - — - — - THEVERDICT We sampled a total of four different burgers today from Marietta to Roswell, splitting each between two and sometimes three people to save stomach space. Opulent was easily my favorite of the four. Each burger we sampled was delicious, but the aptly named Amazing Burger is the only one that I was thinking about at the end of the day. It happened to be the most expensive of the four($ 15.95), but in my opinion it was worth it.
