We dined at Matteo’s Today. Nice décor, Good food, attentive service really can’t ask for more.

This place is a classy place that feels like home. The food by Chef Anthony is excellent, the service by Mike the bartender is wonderful, and Vinny the manager is like a family member. It is the go– to place anytime you want a great meal in an easy and friendly place.

Matteo’s is a great family spot, or even for date night. Large family style portions so don’t over order, and always share! Italian food like it should be done, delicious and not overly fried or greasy. Calamari is great, chicken Marsala is perfect and they ever offer zucchini noodles for those on low carb diets but still want Italian. Since it has been renovated the atmosphere is nice, dimly lit and a little noisy(what Italian spot isn’t?) but still classy. Not cheap, but not more expensive than it should be. Large wine and drink selection, I would recommend this place to anyone who has never been there.

I came here on Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend. We had an 8pm reservation, towards the end of a typically busy Valentine’s Day restaurant. We got there, sat down, and waited. At least 10 minutes before we got a menu or drink orders taken. Waiter comes and takes our drink order and seems friendly. After he left, 10 minutes pass, 15 minutes pass, 20, 25, almost 45 minutes later and not once did he come back. Finally, he comes and takes our order — apologizing as he admitted he totally forgot about us and dessert was on him. Orders were taken. The Buratta on ciabatta bread was fantastic — probably their best appetizer. We both loved it. The fried calamari was not greasy at all and was also very good. Portions were family style. For dinner, I ordered the Linguine with calamari, mussles, and clams and it was delicious but HUGE. Share with your family. My girlfriend ordered Chicken Francese and she thought it was the best she ever had. Our waiter rarely came over to check on us and I reluctantly gave him an 18% gratuity. After he promised us dessert for his gaffe, it was still on the bill. Not trying to sound cheap, but he provided poor service the entire night and I thought it would have been nice for him to repay us a bit. I understand it was Valentine’s Day, but the reviews I looked at earlier all complained about the service. I wanted to test it out — maybe it was just a bad experience, but that was the one thing that held me back from truly enjoying this place.

I love this place, the place is beautiful and service is great. Food perfect, one night the chef came to our table. To make sure my fresh Alaskan halibut was prepared the way I like! Perfect I said, and the shrimp dish was too, always a plus when the chef comes to the table. Parking is is the hard part, the valets are great, but that road is busy, be careful, people can wait an extra minute!

We walked in a bit early than our reservation and were offered the very worst table in an otherwise empty place –right in the middle of the room next to a large group. Strange especially since my open table reservation requested a usual booth or table against the wall. And plenty were available. So I spoke up. They sprung into action and accommodated us in the back in a cozy area — just right. Our Italo American waiter was great and very attentive. When I started to speak Italian they really turned on the charm. Open to all my quirky requests and really accommodating to vegans. Family style eatery with plenty of regulars and a bustling energy of happy earring. Modern classic décor for tasteful dining. We will be back to this long time Long Island Italian eatery.

Matteo’s is my favorite spot for great Italian food. The history in the place really reflects the experience of how the restaurant is ran. The staff is excellent, from the bottom up. The waiters are sharp and know exactly how to do their job. The manager Vinny is awesome, always greeting customers with a big smile and a warm welcome. As far as food goes, you can’t beat Matteo’s. My favorites on the menu are Chicken Valdostana and Linguini Marechiara. The menu features a number of traditional Italian dishes, but if you are in the mood for modern cuisine, the restaurant offers some the best around. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great experience in Roslyn, NY.

Food and décor are decent but this place deserves a low rating for their total lack of attention and interest in honoring a milestone birthday dinner reservation that was made 1 month in advance and followed up with several phone calls in between. We requested a quiet table for a large party. Instead we got one of the loudest tables near the bar. Efforts were extended to remedy the situation but it was too little too late. You’d think they would have at least comped the table a drink for such a huge error. No they did not. Instead they sent an inexperienced server to work the table of 10. Milestone birthdays only come around once. If you ruin it you can never get it back. Very sorry we chose this place to honor the day. Oh yeah… valet was rude and inept. In the pouring rain, he got out of my brand new car and claimed it didn’t start. Made me get soaking wet to go into my car and show him how to start it. So much for being treated like«family». …

Let’s start with the staff. From the moment you walk into this warm inviting restaurant you are made to feel special. The more often you go the more you begin to think that maybe your are related to these wonderful people because they treat you like family. I always feel like I’m home when I dine there. Now lets talk food… Chef Anthony is AMAZING! He makes some of the best dishes around. I especially enjoy his Burrata appetizer with the most wonderful balsamic reduction, if you can catch him on a day when he does prepare his tuna tartare on cucumber slices go for it! It is out of this world! Then there are the main dishes … too many wonderful ones to mention, but here are a few, his Shrimp Luciano(shrimp with lemon and spinach) who knew spinach could taste that good! It is wonderful! I also very much enjoyed the Nona’s Ragu… you know what, just go there… you will not be disappointed. And if you love music, hit it on a Thursday evening for some amazing music by various wonderfully talented musicians.

Went to Matteo’s last night and it was AMAZING! We were a party of three adults and two young children. Our order was not too exotic since we had the kids in tow: Cesar Salad, Chicken Parm, Pasta Catbonara, and a special pasta with fresh mozzarella and basil in a red sauce. All was delicious and the portions were huge. We ordered all small dishes(except for the chicken) and filled ourselves up and then had enough for leftovers for lunch today. Ten meals for $ 95 is a great deal for this calibre of food. Service was great too.

Matteo’s Italian Restaurant A THURSDAYNIGHTDELIGHT Matteo’s an iconic italian restaurant in roslyn, radiates a new and exciting ambiance and elegance. The newly redecorated restaurant is bright, light, and warm, with elegant lighting, décor and design. What really differentiates Matteo’s from other fine restaurants on the north shore, is their welcoming and friendly attitude emanating from top management. Upon entering Matteo’s, Vincent, the young and dynamic maitre d’, welcomed us to the restaurant. We were then introduced to Juan, our waiter, who was enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. Matteo’s offers superb food and service for family, friends, singles, and couples of all ages. It attracts an upscale, casual chic clientele, who enjoy excellent food, and a convivial crowd. We visited Matteo’s on a thursday night. The day was warm and wonderful, and the atmosphere in the restaurant, upbeat and alive! The well stocked and highly attractive bar was packed and diners were entertained by live music from a «piano man», who sang old and new song favorites. We were seated at a table in the main dining room with a perfect view for people watching. Matteo’s also has a smaller dining room, for parties, receptions and events. We discussed the menu with Matteo’s dapper Executive Chef Anthony, and began our italian feast with: –Bur-rata– a delicate imported soft white creamy cheese with a balsamic drizzle. a true taste treat… –A delicious plate of small, tender, breaded baked clams in a buttery sauce. –A small plate of Spicy Tuna Tartare– Sashimi grade diced tuna slices with a side of wasabi. Off the chain terrific! We then shared an aromatic bowl of pasta marechiara — thin pasta noodles in a delicious broth with shrimp, clams, salmon, and small lobster pieces. A meal in itself and oh so enjoyable! Chef Anthony then sent over two exciting and visually alluring fish plates: A generous and beautifully prepared Red Snapper oreganata, with a side of spinach. And… A Salmon oregenata with a side of sauteed string beens and broccoli. — Both dishes tasted like more! To end our evening on a «sweet note» We shared a specially prepared house made Napoleon with a light and flaky crust., along with a mouthwateringly delicious housemade cannoli. Both desserts were beautiful to look at and fabulous to eat. Our desserts were accompanied by a glass of Biscotti liquor. All in all, a simply awesome evening at Matteo’s, where fine dining and a welcoming atmosphere, make each meal memorable. Kudos to Gennaro, the owner, for his vision and superb taste; Chef Anthony, for his exciting menu; and to Vincent and his wait staff for their caring and consideration. Highly recommended! Wasn’t crowded at first, but filled up quickly and noise level rose as well. A decent-sized party was going on in the back area. Restaurant fairly recently renovated and prices went up quite a bit to match the«shi-shi-ness». We felt that service was slow(water glasses not filled unless we asked, no bread unless we asked, we had to look for our waiter’s attention, etc.), although, when we were served, three waiters came to plate our food. Servings are large(AKA family style), so choose your serving size accordingly. On the other hand, as petty as this sounds, being that we were a party of 3, it would have been thoughtful if the wait staff/chef gave us equal amounts of whatever we ordered(shrimp/dessert/etc.) so that we did not have to «split hairs» over dividing our food evenly, rather than cutting up pieces. Pasta was al dente, if that is your gig and quite sauce-covered. Dessert was great(again, we had to cut it up so that we good all enjoy the same amount), special side dish order of veal sausage was the hit of the night. Our experience was middling; otherdiners seem to love it, or love being seen there.

I have been here a number of times and have never been disappointed, the staff is always respectful and on par. The food is the best I have tasted on Long Island. the parking is a bit of a nuisance, but by no means should that reflect the rating of the food or staff. I believe this restaurant is ran top notch! Last night we had a party of 4, just before our main dinners came out, we saw a couple we are friends with walk in. They came to our table to chat, the hostess came over to see if we needed anything. We asked if we could all be seated together. In a matter of minutes we all were seated. . All the food came out together perfectly cooked… After dinner we were given on the house dessert and drinks. Where do you get that kind of service today? The staff was the Best! The food A+++ I will go here every chance I get!

Went back and had another fantastic experience at Matteo’s, the food was consistent as always, I don’t think I’ve ever experienced an off day there. I hope people take the time to try it out and give this Italian gem the time it deserves! Try my all time favorite item the burrata– out of this world! Bön Appetite!

On Christmas Eve I was happily anticipating dinner with my family of five including my 90 year old mother. Along with us we were to meet the rest of my family(14 in total) for our annual celebration. My cousin had been in touch with the restaurant several times that day to adjust numbers besides the initial call a couple of weeks prior to secure the reservation. We arrived before any of the others unloading my mother in her wheelchair. I gave the hostess the names of our reservation and she said she could not seat us until all had arrived. A few minutes later I again approached the hostess. A good deal of whispering took place and the owner came over. He said that he had tried five times to reach my cousin to confirm. I told them that today alone there had been two calls. The hostess said she was the only one there all day a d she had not spoken to my cousin I called my cousin and she even had the name of the hostess. They denied the calls had taken place even though we had spoken with them. I had to get my mother back in the car with no place to go. She is also diabetic so it was imperative she eat soon. The owner never apologized or made any attempt at future business. I will never patronize Matteo’s again. I am only giving one star because I must to post this review.

Dinner with my coworkers. Party of 5. Wait time — our party was running late so we all met at the bar. The bartenders were friendly and pleasant. They had us seated once our whole party was there. Food — everything we tried was delicious. No complaints there. Portions are big so there will be plenty to share or bring home. Service — I really appreciate when our waitress pulled our cups off the table to fill it with water. Instead of leaning over your shoulder and letting water/ice just spill or splatter all over the place. However, I noticed that only half the staff does this. Our waitress is knowledgable and quick. However, she barely smiled. Bummer.

I came here with coworkers for dinner during a weekday. The restaurant wasn’t overly crowded which was nice. The waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and very attentive. He recommended a corn salad with avocados which everyone enjoyed. Overall it was a good dinner.

Food-pretty darn good. The only thing i dont like is how they make me wait forever for takeout and the food is cold. Smh. What earned this place one star is the atrocious atmosphere and awful service. Although its not the restaurants fault, the crowds there are always abhorrent. However, the restaurant does have control over who they employ. All of the employees there, from the busboys, to the bartenders, waiters, and managers, all have bad attitudes and were supremely unfriendly at every encounter. I’m not being melodramatic; i have literally lost my appetite due to the(low) caliber people who work there. As if this isn’t enough, they play favorites when it comes to who gets seated first, etc., which goes to explain why my food was always cold when I got takeout. Listen, good food is only a part of the equation when it comes to a dining experience. This place had good food that is cold sometimes. It starts and ends there.

I came here for a rehearsal dinner and there was a set menu so I can cannot comment on their regular service but our dinner was great. We had a long table in the back for 20 of us. Everything was served family style. The servers came around to every person with a little of each dish so you didn’t have to rush to grab it(only if you wanted second servings). Some of the highlights were the fried calamari, baked clams and the chopped salad. Servers were extremely attentive.
