I met Alison LONG before there was Unilocal.
I bought a beautiful diamond from Diamonds International on a cruise. Once I got on board, I knew immediately that the diamond we selected earlier in the day was not the diamond that was put in the setting. But I also knew I had a money back guarantee.

Little did I know that I was about to have my own personal «gemologist.» Actually, once you realize that most mall jewelry stores are just a front for a loan company with ridiculously high interest rates, mostly for kids without credit, you will realize that you won’t ever even consider buying from a retail shop again. Alison has saved me literally thousands of dollars over the past decade +, and the quality is better than any run of the mill jewelry store even gets their hands on.
When I read my return policy from Diamonds International, I discovered that I needed a gemologist that had the highest level of certifications available. That’s how I found Alison.
I have also learned not to refer people to businesses I have used. You have a great experience with a plumber, then your friend says it was the worst plumber they ever had. So I’m careful not to refer. Alison is my exception to this rule. I absolutely know that anyone I refer will also have their own personal gemologist after one meeting. She’s that awesome. Every one I have ever recommended has fallen in love with her too and I highly doubt anyone that has ever had any business with her has ever walked back into a mall jewelry store without feeling sick to their stomach.
When you meet someone that loves what they do and always had time to share their knowledge with you, well, I say they are a keeper. I wouldn’t even consider going anywhere else for anything jewelry related.

Alison LeBaron, LeBaron Laboratory, is a certified gemologist who does jewelry appraisals in the Granite Bay area. She does the appraisal while you wait, so you don’t have to leave anything and come back, which is very convenient. She will then mail you a detailed write-​up that you can use for insurance purposes. I have taken several pieces of jewelry to her to appraise and her work is excellent. She is extremely knowledgable and fun to talk to, and I have learned so much about jewelry from my visits with her. Also, her prices are quite reasonable.
