Their food is better than most dine-in or carry out Chinese restaurants in the area… They apparently have their own recipes, and they’re very good. Love the Almond Boneless(unique sauce) Chicken, crisp and fresh. I order a quart of Hot and Sour soup every time I go, it’s great, and different than anywhere else I’ve been. Excellent noodle dishes. We’ve had, probably, 1⁄8 of the items on their menu(good sized menu), and haven’t been disappointed yet. All meat dishes have a decent meat to veggie ratio, and portions are larger than average. Speaking of average, I’d have to say the appetizer stuff, crab Rangoon, and egg rolls are nothing special. Can’t beat their prices; if you grab a menu, there are coupons for future use, like 10% off or free appetizer.

One of the best Chinese take-outs I’ve been too. I used to live right around the corner from here and we’d only order from this spot. VERY good food, huge portions and they always got my order correct every time. Highly recommend this place … you won’t be disappointed.

What I liked about this place was that it was clean when you walked in and the place looked inviting although they had limited seats for dine in. This is not a dine-in place. This is more of a carryout and delivery place. I liked that they gave huge portions although I did not find the food that delicious. It was… ok. For me, Id rather eat good food for less the amount of portion. The food was filling however. When I went here to dine with my family, the lady there did not look like she knew what she was doing. She placed the forks and spoons and stack of plates on the table and left and didn’t even bother passing them out or asking us what drinks we would like until she returned again. She seemed very nice though, just a bit shy. I would recommend this place if you are on a budget and looking for food to fill you up. Do not get any spring rolls. The ones were were served tasted like they have been in freezer for a longtime. The wrapper was hard to bite and almost chewy and rubbery.

Just finished my carry out from China King and it was HORRIBLE!!! Ordered the dinner for three combo w sesame chicken, beef and broccoli, and sweet and sour chicken. Sesame chicken and the beef and broccoli were mostly broccoli that was basically raw with zero seasoning and flavorless. The fried rice tasted bland and barely fried. Sweet and sour chicken was little fried chicken nuggets and some weak thinned out sauce and like 5 chunks of pineapple. Beef and broccoli had hardly any beef and what was there was paper thin and looked like ALPO dog food. When you order 3 dishes you expect to receive more variety of vegetables, not ONLY broccoli! Plus you could tell that the broccoli wasn’t sautéed in a wok or even a pan. It was pathetic! NOMUSHROOMS, NOWATERCHESTNUTS, NOPEAPODS, NOBEANSPROUTS, NOPEPPERSANDONIONS! JUSTBROCCOLI!!! Comes with 3 egg rolls. I added a extra spring roll and they messed up and gave me 4 spring rolls after the order taker an I went over it 3 times!!! For the wonton soup it was mostly broth and like 9 measly wontons and chopped up iceberg lettuce! I’m not sure of the specific vegetable that is in wonton soup other than green onions but I’m DAMNSURE it’s not iceberg lettuce!!! I could get better Chinese food at Olive Garden and that’s an Italian restaurant! I’ve had carry out from China King located in Chesterfield on 21 and Gratiot and it was far superior to this poor excuse for Chinese food! These people should be ashamed to serve this food to paying customers. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague!

Fast service and amazing food. I love their vegetable fried rice and they have the best egg rolls I’ve had in a long time! Will continue to come here for my Chinese fix for take out night!

Just when you think you’ve had the worst Chinese ever… You try this place and it takes the cake. We called for a carry out and had to repeat the order three times. Go to pick it up and the place is a dump. There’s a gross plastic drape thing that is between the counter and the kitchen. It looks like something from a serial killer movie! Anyway, on to the food. The almond boneless chicken was soggy. The egg rolls were crusty(and not in a good way). And the Lo Mein noodles were way over cooked. Stay away!!!

Love China King. It’s New York style Chinese food and it’s great. It’s more of a carryout establishment but there is a few tables for dine in. They have the best crab rangoon. You get 8 pieces vs the standard 6 pieces most places give. The $ 3.99 price can’t be beat either. The lunch prices are good too(under $ 6). You can get all the traditional food like sweet & sour, almond boneless chicken, General Tso. My favorite is the Happy Family which has crab, shrimp, beef, chicken, pork with vegetables in a tasty brown sauce. They give you huge portions so you’ll have enough for another meal. Great food, prices, and friendly service. Can’t ask for much else.

I think in terms of Chinese food, based on what we have tried so far in Michigan, this may get 4 stars from many people. We had fabulous Chinese in Florida so I have to be honest and give it a 3. With all that being said, this is the best Chinese we have had so far in Michigan. My husband and I both ordered combos, General tao’s chicken and cashew chicken. The general Tao sauce, was different, not bad, but sweet and not spicy at ALL. I’m almost wondering if they gave us the wrong sauce because there were chunks of pineapple in it, which I have never seen before. Still the flavor of the sauce was not bad. The pieces of chicken were much larger than I have ever seen before. There was lots of batter though, and I ended of just taking the batter off and eating the chicken. It was white meat, which is always a plus. The cashew chicken was fine. It seemed as if the chicken was a little fatty though. I enjoyed the veggies, and the flavor of the sauce was fine. I thought the egg rolls were gross! My husband said they were okay. The fried rice, while not my favorite ever, was so much better than the last place we tried. They give you chicken fried rice with the combo which made me happy since I’m not completely in love with pork fried rice. The chicken bits were good, I like they they put in a little egg, though I do hope they typically leave out the egg shell I found, and the flavor was okay. The portions, while big as usual, were not as large as I have typically gotten. We did have some leftovers, but nothing worth saving. Still plenty of food, so I’m certainly not stating they are ripping you off. I believe they offer a lunch size, which based on our dinner size may not be as much as you want pending your appetite. I’m sure it would be more than enough for me, but not my husband. Please know, I’ve not seen the lunch portion, I’m just basing this off of our dinner portion. I’m not sure if we will ever order from here again. If the next few places don’t work out and we are in need of a Chinese fix, maybe.

Hands down the WORST chinese I’ve ever had! Everything on the dinner– for-two carry out was tasteless and dry. Would have returned it, but it was delivered to our hotel room. Our dog got most of it.

well…(sigh) let see, ran in for a quick carry out, got the almond chicken dinner combo, they were very busy in the back I placed my order, the guy taking my order was calm cool and collected, polite and friendly. the small resturant/carryout room was clean and bright, no signs of worry, got my order very quickly and flew out of there. Got home and opened my meal, smells good… tastes good, there was only a couple of things I was a little unhappy with, the dinner rolls were not good at all. I am spoiled by those dinner rolls from Asian restaurants. tall, fluffy and warm, these rolls were short, round BURNTTOPS and hollowly hard 2nd, the quantity of the chicken was very small(especially for a dinner) I did get lots of rice and the sauce was a little different but not horrible. so was it worth it, Iv came here many years ago 1 time and remembering it being not bad. will I return? …Probably, I did find out while waiting for my meal that the Lo Mien noodle here are the thick cut, Not the thin noodles. so that’s something to look forward to.

I use to be a regular here, I mean 3 times a week kind of guy. But a few months ago they got new owners of this Chinese restaurant. They upgraded they whole place, which looks so much better than the old place. But they also changed the way they cook the rice and some of the dishes. Which now taste bland and boring. I which they keep the food how it use to be, it was worth the 3 trips a week to go, but not I don’t go unless I’m forced by a friend who is willing to pay for my meal.

I was fooled by the ratings so I opened an account to try and save someone else. Delivery: I’m 3 miles away and was given a 40 – 45 min. ETA. Over an hour later they delivered over cooked and soggy General Tso’s, barely warm and hardly spicy. The fried rice was more white rice than anything. The Almond Chicken was also barely warm and forgettable — the gravy tasted like dirty dish water. The egg roll was just plain nasty, unless essence of cardboard box is what you’re craving… It’s sad when you have plenty of leftovers to feed the garbage. It was a waste of money, time and my caloric intake. Pass!

This is really a carryout but there are a few tables. If I could be more specific I would say this place is 3.5 stars, I hate to say it but I think we Michiganders rate our restaurants too high, maybe because we don’t know any better or maybe our state is hurting so bad that we feel guilty to give anyone a low rating. I asked the owner when they first opened what New York Style was and he said«It’s more original» or he might have said«more authentic» and I didn’t ask him to elaborate but I’m not sure if he meant more authentic New York Style or more Authentic Chinese. Anyways, I’ve been to New York and their Chinese food is better than in Michigan. So is Toronto and San Francisco for that matter. The food here reminds me of China Ruby in Ferndale which is a solid 4 star, I’ll reserve 5 star for the Best of the Best(San Francisco) Pros: Fried dumplings(pot stickers), General Tsao’s Chicken, Chicken Chop Suey are good. It’s clean No MSG(they claim) Great prices on the lunch combos. I used to get a dish called Green Beans & Chicken that was good but I don’t see it on the menu anymore. Cons: It’s not China Ruby nor is it as good as San Francisco but it’s good, some of the people I talk to love it or hate it. It used to be my favorite in the area but there are more choices now and they don’t put as much broccoli in the General Tso as I would like. The Hot and Sour soup made my tummy feel funny a few times.

Mike pretty much summed it up… Its a very small carry-out intended«New York style’ Chinese-American eatery. It has seating for maybe 8 – 10 people. It is stereotypically decorated for a Chinese restaurant — you know — the waterfall picture on the wall with a light behind it and the waterfall picture is on a roll, so it moves and you are supposed to feel like you are beneath the falls while eating your chow main and chicken fried rice(because you’ve always dreamed about that right?) lol. There is also the ‘obligatory’ fish tank with a few koi and a huge plecostamus in the lobby area. I wouldnt expect anything less! I grew up in Roseville(yes, I do accept your apologies, lol) and this place has been around since I was in High School(circa late 90’s). They havent appeared to ever change owners or drastically change their menu. I personally have always loved their Sesame Chicken… OMG. It is amazing. The portions are downright ridiculous. It makes you think they are getting PAID to give away that much food by the companies that supply their chicken meat. The sesame sauce they use is delicious and not too strong. Their fried rice is the best Ive ever had at any chinese restaurant, in fact, its so good my Dad refuses to eat fried rice anywhere else! If you order in or carry out, the food is ready at lightning fast speed. They have 3 – 4 cooks working in back and they are always moving around fast. During lunch time, this place gets really busy. At times, there is a lobby full of people. Ive seen Roseville/Fraser Police both pick up very large orders there. The delivery service is very very fast. When the food gets to my work, its still so hot that I cannot eat it, unless I want a burnt tongue! Prices are beyond reasonable. A lunch special is around $ 5.25 and like I stated previously, the portions are gargantuan. Plan on having enough to split or taking half home for dinner.

The sign for China King boasts«New York Style Chinese.» I don’t even know what that means, but alright. I’ll buy it. For hole-in-the-wall Chinese, it’s pretty good. If that constitutes NY style, then it works for me. They do carry-out and dine in. They don’t have table service, so expect a fast food-esque dining experience if you plan to eat in the restaurant. They do really great chicken and lo mein. Both are tasty without a chemical aftertaste. I swear I can taste when food is loaded with MSG. Does anyone else get this? CK doesn’t smother their food with the stuff, which suits my palate well enough. I don’t know what they do differently, but the wonton soup here is superb. The texture of the wontons are soft, not squishy and rubbery. They don’t have an overly large menu; there’s maybe 20 items total, where some other places offer quite a large selection — Canton Inn, for example, has over 100 different dishes. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go to China King, but being in the neighborhood, I’d go here if I got sick of the Chinese buffets.
