Well, it seems I spoke to soon. Figures. The very first day after I bought the car, the«check engine» light came on. After accessing the code, it seems it has a bad charcoal canister(a known issue on this model of car, even the subject of a TSB, but the manufacturer will not help because it’s about 20K miles out of warranty now). Right away, I sent a fax to Automec asking them, in the spirit of good customer service, to refund just a couple hundred of my purchase price to resolve the issue(which is going to cost me almost $ 400 to fix now). I **completely** realize they don’t have to since the car was sold«as is,» but I thought perhaps in the spirit of fairness they might work with me as I had only had the car 48 hours when the problem arose. When they didn’t call me upon receipt of my fax, I tried calling them, and they gave me the runaround – shuffling me between the two people there, acting like they didn’t understand what I was saying, preumably due to language differences, stating that they didn’t receive the fax, and then, when I scanned and e-mailed it, that they couldn’t open the .pdf file… on and on and on. At the end of the day, they were only too happy to take my cashier’s check, but certainly didn’t want to hear from me after they put it in the bank. I’m so very disappointed to have to write this update to my initially-glowing review. I really expected better of them.
