The only reason i give this place 1 star is b/c i cant rate it any less. If you value your hair do not visit this saloon. Im natural and got a wah, blow dry and flat iron. It looked good when i left but when i got home i noticed a piece of hair sticking up. Upon further inspection i have a whole section of hair that the stylist must have burned off with the flat iron. I dont understand how she did that and she never said anything to me about it. This is a so called professional who did this. I would have better off going to the hair scool and pay $ 12 like i usually do b/c they never burned my hair off. DONTVISITTHISSALOON!!!

After an hour of not even a hello I walked out of the salon. They saw my hair was natural and decided to deal with«easier» clients, some who came after me. Terrible experience.

Very bad saloon, pathetic staff, not at all gentle, they gave me bruises, please be aware of these never ever go there, I went there for mani-pedi, unprofessional staff, they pull of my cuticle so badly, it was painful. And also when I told her she is being really rough, she said sorry and repeated that again and again, believe me she massage me and pull of my vain so hard I started crying coz of pain, I hate it literally never ever gonna go back, they are psycho, they treat ppl so inhuman. Worst experience of my entire life. They keep on speaking loudly while they do ur mani-pedi, it feels like u sitting in super market, and also if they not talking to staff they start talking on there phone with headphones. It was a nightmare . They are unhygienic, rude, unprofessional, worst of all. Never ever go there ppl. I wish I can score them —

This is the absolute WORST salon I’ve ever been to in my life. I came in at 9:30AM to get my gull weave put in and they proceeded to tell me that none of the stylist who do weaves were in yet(there was only one worker in the shop). So they called the woman, Andrea, over the phone and Andrea told me she was coming in today. 15 minutes later, the one worker in the shop proceeds to tell me that Andrea is going to be late, she won’t be there until 11AM. So I wait, there was another woman waiting for Andrea as well. At 11:30, I see the other woman who was waiting ask for Andrea, so the only worker in the shop calls Andrea on the phone and puts her on the phone. Andrea apparently tells her she won’t be there until 3:00 Bc she’s running errands. So, both the first woman and I leave. Around 2:00PM, I call and ask if Andrea is there yet, the woman who answered the phone says that Andrea won’t be there until 3:30PM. I show up at the shop at 3:00PM, they tell me Andrea isn’t coming in today. AREYOUSERIOUS?! WHYWOULDYOUPUTMETHROUGHSOKICHWAITING?! DONOTSUPPORTTHISBUSINESS! I went to impressions Wednesday for a wash and blow out. it was really great. As a natural i’m really cautious about who touches my hair. Andrea did an amazing Job, the lady that washed my hair was so gentle and took her time. I will definitely be back again. The place is also pretty, it has a nice décor. I would recommend this place.

It’s is a sad case when you come for a simple wash and set and you are under the dryer writing a review. I was driving by and decided to stop and wash my hair. This location is in South Jamaica and I have never experienced treatment like this in my entire life. I don’t understand how they stay in business. Customer service is awful, And the people in here are just plain mean. I am actually contemplating leaving and going someplace else.

I’m writing about the new Arverne location. I thought it was great for a beauty/nail salon to open right in walking distance from my new home. So my sister in law and myself wanted to have manicures. My sister in law is a Latina & I am African American. Apparently the nail technician giving my sister in law her manicure didnt realize we were together. In Spanish, my sister in law asked the tech if she liked the new location, job, etc & the girl told her she didn’t because they were TOOMANYBLACKPPL. Of course my sister in law told her she shouldn’t say things like that & that she had a biracial child & black husband. After leaving my sister in law told me what was said and I was shocked especially since the workers are Dominican and some had darker complexions than myself. Needless to say, they won’t be getting my green money ever again.

Impressions by Theresa just opened in Arverne by the Sea, Rockaway. I was so happy to have a spa in the neighborhood… not happy anymore, after this morning. I went for leg waxing, their printed price list said«half legs — $ 25.00.» At the cash register(cash only) I was charged $ 40. I then showed the receptionist the price list, and she said, «oh, $ 25 is for one leg only.» I then pointed to the plural«legs» on the price list. She double checked with someone in the back and said, «no, it’s $ 40.» I looked at the price list to see if there was any mention of the $ 40 charge, but there was none. So I asked(rhetorically) if they ever had any customers that requested to have just one leg waxed. You know, if they had, that would justify pricing by the individual leg. She was not the owner, she said. This is a prime example of deceptive practices. Not coming back.

Customer Service does not exist here. Last time I was here, I asked the woman washing my hair for deep conditioner. She finished washing my hair without conditioning it and then told me that I didn’t ask her. From there I said forget it because I didn’t want to spend any extra money here. Once I finished drying, the person styling my hair took it upon herself to totally straighten my hair and I wanted curls. I told her I didn’t like it and the manager told me to come in the next day to fix it because there were no stylists in the salon at the moment. I’m thinking why in the world is she styling my hair if she’s not a stylist!!! For some crazy reason, I’m back here today and the disappointment continues. I knew it was about 6pm so I asked was it too late for a wash & set and conditioner. The lady at the desk said no but she should have said yes. I sit down for the wash and ask for a deep condition. She then begins speaking in spanish to her co-workers, never answering my question. I say yea or no? She says it’s ok. Then she talks to the stylists and comes back and says only leave in conditioner. The co-worker she was speaking to in spanish before shouts out«No deep conditioner after 6.» Now I’m upset for a many reasons. This is the same lady at the desk that told me everything was good. Secondly, why didn’t you shout out that rule in the first place. Now it makes me feel like they’re making stuff up as they go along. It’s not posted with all of the other rules and notices on the walls… I should’ve never come back and I definitely won’t after this. There are too many Dominican Salons in NY to choose from.

Let me be the first to warn people about this place! This review is from a series of experiences over the last 2 ½ years. Let me break it down… Let’s begin with the fact that the stylists are ALWAYS getting their hair done, which is fine with me if there is down time. However, paying customers should not have to wait while their stylist is being pampered. That is beyond me. Next, let’s talk about how rude and bitchy these women are. Most of the customers are black and do not speak/understand Spanish. Unluckily for them, I am black but speak AND understand Spanish. In one instance I sat and listened to these bitches have a full blown conversation in Spanish about me, discussing what they were going to charge me(which was higher than what they originally told me) and other unnecessary comments about my hair. Since most of them don’t understand English too well I approached the woman at the desk and told her to tell the others to cut the shit and that I understood everything they were saying. Needless to say she was rude too and didn’t even pick her head up from her phone to acknowledge me. The fact that they had comments is irrelevant to me or my life, but they could have waited until I left to talk. Even when I call they are very rude over the phone. Sometimes when they pick up I have to wait 15 seconds to hear them laugh and finish their conversation before they even say hello. They are also very loud and always having extremely loud conversations. The salon is supposed to be a semi-relaxing place and if anything this place gives me a headache. If it’s not the music it’s the stylists. Keeping the language barrier in mind, a lot of the times the girls do not understand what I want so they do what they THINK I want. I’m always willing to wait for them to call someone over that can translate but apparently they never have the time/patience for that. Some of them don’t understand simple things. the last time I went the lady tried to do pin curls in my hair when I asked for a simple blow out. When I tried to explain she said«Ok mami» and continued with the pin curls, which tells me she didn’t understand me at all. It took me explaining 3 times and the intervention of another stylist for me to finally get my hair blown out. I just hate that they pretend to understand you just to do whatever they want and get you out of the way. The one reason I have kept going back is one girl named Andrea whose family owns the salon. She is very sweet and is amazing with hair! she also speaks/understands perfect English. I have no problem with people who do not but I just want to be understood in terms of what I want done with my hair. However, she does not take control of the salon and allows the other girls to do whatever they want. Although she’s very good with hair I won’t be returning because she’s not very accessible. Either she’ll be in the salon but claim she’s not doing hair that day or is not there at all. When I call no one ever seems to want to tell me when Andrea will be working next. So going there trying to look for her has become a hassle and not worth it. Michelle is also very good but again it’s not worth taking the chance to see if she’s there with everything else that goes on. Warning: NOONEELSE knows how to do hair besides these two. In general, the other girls don’t seem to know their head from their ass. They don’t know prices and have to call Andrea on her day off to ask her. They have tried to charge me extra on certain styles that I get regularly so I know what I should be charged. Needless to say when I insist that they’re wrong a conversation in Spanish ensues. Overall, very rude and unorganized and crossing my fingers hoping Andrea is there(since no one ever know anything over the phone) is not worth it. Moral of the story is, 8 times out of 10 I leave frustrated. AVOID.

Customer service sucks and they will not listen to instruction. They also do not care about your hair so if you want to keep Waltham strands, I do not recommend this spot! You will spend your money to be treated like crap.

Hi Unilocalers, this place is the worst especially their Jamaica location. I bought a groupon deal to try it out. Worst experience ever, I did not even set foot in the place. First they did not reply to my email they send me a a automated reply that was a advertisement. Then I called their number their voice mail was not set up at all. Then when I finally spoke to someone they were rude. They told me that I was bothering them because I was asking to many questions. Then, the receptionist pass me over to someone else and told her coworker in Spanish that I was annoying and that I was getting on her nerves. By the way I speak Spanish fluently so I understood everything. Then she hang up on me. So relaxing right best experience ever.
