This is for sure one of the best Duane Reade I’ve gone to. It’s right next to the train station so when I am either on my way somewhere or coming home it’s easy to buy something. The only problem I have is they are short staffed and sometimes a woman that works there will short change me.

Great staff, pleasant and very helpful. Store always clean and well stocked. Average price not much different from any other Duane Reade. It’s gets busy in the evening. So management should put extra staff to help checkout.

Again, like Starbucks, the ONLY Duane Reade in Roosevelt Island. This one is also conveniently located near the Tram and the Subway Station. It’s a pretty big store for the Island providing your everyday needs. However, like most Duane Reades in the city, it seriously lacks healthy and fresh foods like produce, meat or what not. Well, it’s a convenience store anyway so I guess I’ll have to cope with it. However, it’s a good place to grab a few things out of convenience if you live in one of those luxury condos nearby and don’t want to trek to Gristedes toward the other side of the Island.

A normal Duane Reade on a secluded island. That’s how I feel about this one on Roosevelt Island. I’m glad it’s here. During the summer I grab what I need and enjoy eating on the lawn while soaking up the views on the city. Roosevelt Island is very relaxing for me. If you need to get away from all the people and taxis, but don’t wanna go far… Go here. You don’t need to get snacks in the city, Duane Reade is here.

This isn’t just about this DR location but the last time I went into a DR this was the one I went to so thought I’d just stick this review on this location. What’s going on with DR’s prices? Every three months things are jacked up thirty percent. This time I bought a tiny can of Fancy Feast cat food & it was $ 1.29, up from the already outrageous .99. The can is three ounces, so if you do the math, this can of chicken cat food is actually $ 6.88 a lb. I wouldn’t buy chicken for me to eat @ $ 6.88 a lb. That’s worse than bodega prices. Living in NYC you kind of accept high pricing on most items, but even with that DR has gone over the edge. I’m officially done with DR.

What do you do when you’re stuck on an island, it’s raining and you need to dry off? Pass you’re time at Duane Reade. With all the restaurants and stuff packed to the gills, this was a welcome refuge. Food, drink; sustenance all the same, we hid out until the traffic and rain died off. I discovered the massive 1.5 liter Poland Spring bottled water(we don’t get this on the west coast) and a reminder of some bday present obligations while perusing the greeting cards section.
