Dr. Buckley has been my dentist for the vast majority of my life. He is an extremely good dentist which is why he has held several positions in the IAO(International Association of Orthodontists) and also has lectured all over the world. Perhaps one of his most notable skills as a dentist is his ability to perform dentistry with minimal pain(as noted in a separate review). Lisa G’s review is disappointing to read and it is sad to see Unilocal allowing foul language reviews to be posted. As can be seen by her earlier review, she clearly liked Dr. Buckley at one point. Perhaps it was her having the bad day and not the dentist… She claims she’s heard many people, dentists, and«regular» folk make statements. Seems suspicious that she has so many corroborating sources on this singular opinion of hers. Not many«regular» folk I know that talk about their dentist with one another. As far as opinions of other dentists, you don’t have to take my word for it. Go see all the positions and accolades Dr. Buckley has from the IAO, etc. When considering Dr. Buckley, I strongly urge you to consider Peter’s review and pay little attention to Lisa G — the one who is definitely being rude.

*UPDATE20-APR-15* I returned to Dr Buckley’s office in April of 2014 for what I thought was an infected gum(probably from popcorn.) The dentist was extremely rude and told me I had a pretty gross gum disease(necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis.) I am a grown adult, but I was in tears when I left(he was so very rude.) Fast forward to my next dental visit, with a new doctor, and I came to find out my gums are 100% healthy. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with my mouth/teeth/gums and I’m still cavity free. Please avoid this dentist at all costs. I’ve heard by many people, dentists and«regular» folks alike, that Dr Buckley is an incompetent ass. I must say, I agree. It’s been a couple years since I’ve been to the dentist, and it’s something I dread. I recently moved to this area, and basically picked a dentist from my dental plan. I couldn’t have picked a better dentist! Dr. Buckley is kind, patient and very good at his job. He’s gentle, but my teeth were super clean. He explained everything he was doing, and even told me I’m grinding my teeth at night then showed me how he knew I was doing so! Happily I was pronounced cavity-free, which was the perfect way to end a great visit to the dentist!

I spent most of my 20’s without having a regular dentist. Not having reliable health insurance for a good chunk of that period is a convenient excuse, but the fact is, like many people I dreaded going to the dentist. Now that I’ve matured(a little) and have decent insurance, I try to make it a point to do those things grown-ups are supposed to do, like go to the dentist a couple of times a year. I’m glad to say that these semi-annual trips are no longer a source of dread. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Buckley’s for the last six or seven years, and in that time, I’ve been nothing but impressed with his practice. The Dr. and his staff are very friendly, and more importantly, willing to make whatever effort necessary to allay the fears of patient. Unlike practices that boast they«Cater to Cowards», Dr. Buckley simply pays attention to his patients, listening to their concerns and responding accordingly. As far as technique goes, I am never short of amazed at how painlessly he is able to administer novocaine. It’s a far cry from my trips to the dentist as a kid, when getting a shot of novocaine hurt worse than anything else the dentist might do. Beyond that, I’ve seen(and felt) Dr. Buckley perform root canals without the patient feeling any pain. I’ll say that again. PAINLESSROOTCANALS. Something else I’ve always appreciated about Dr. Buckley is his willingness to discuss not only treatment options(both their cost and effectiveness), but also the necessity of treatments at any given time. In my experience he has never insisted on performing a procedure that wasn’t necessary, or might prove to be overly invasive given the problem. Dr. Buckley pretty much defines what a great dentist should be.
