Time for an update. Their service here has been improving. They are even better at hospitality than before(is that even possible?). From all the places I’ve stopped to eat at in Rockwall, they are the best if you want to impress family and friends with a great dinner. Smiles throughout your stay and the beef quality puts roadhouse and outback to shame. That Shiner Bock bread is the one carb item I can’t resist. There is a hint of lemon zest in that honey butter spread too. Geniusness! I thought the ambient temperature felt cold at first, but after putting a 16oz rib eye in me, I think it’s cozy.

Best Steak in Texas! Wish they would bring back the delicious pecan pie. If this is your first visit they have great appetizers. Artichoke dip or Range Rattlers are the best way to start your dinner.

First time to a Salt Grass Steakhouse. We were not dissapointed. The wait was crazy, but it was Friday night and grad night in the area. Our hostess sat us in the smallest table in the restaurant. We had to ask our server to move… it was just too uncomfortable and tight… they did so willingly and graciously. So onto the food. We skipped appetizers, hubby ordered a drink. Said it was a good pour and prwletty tasty — Whisky Smash. Our waiter Daniel was awesome and had some great recommendations for first timers and on the ball for our whole night. Top notch service. Stakes were prepared to perfection, the blue cheese dressing is to die for and we had to skip dessert because dinner was so filling. Hubby ordered the Tbone with grilled veggies and a loaded baked potato. I odered the steak and cake… which was a filet served with a crab cake. I didn’t particularly like the way the crab cake was prepared(fried like fried chicken) but all in all great meal.

Very very good food, little over priced but very very noisy and depending on where u sit u will be in the middle of a rat race of wait staff. The food is great though.

Full disclosure– I’ve never actually eaten IN this restaurant… but we have gotten to-go many many times. Saltgrass is a perfect«we want a good dinner but don’t feel like cooking it and we don’t feel like going out either» place. Everything is packed up nicely and really does make the trip well! I’ve had everything from salmon, steaks to sandwiches and all is great. It’s on the pricier side– but the quality is worth it. All food has been ready when they said it would be and you can tell they actually strive to be accurate. They even throw in bread and cinnamon butter too! Dang, maybe we’ll have to grace them with our presence and actually dine in some time soon! ;)

On 4÷14÷2016 Our Lunch Ladies Group, party of 8, ate at Saltgrass. Everyone enjoyed their food. Even though the wait staff was short handed, we were well taken care of by Amanda. Thanks for a great lunch.

Even though the wait was 50 min(the check in lady estimated 45) we had a great experience. The restaurant was fully packed but our server was quick, accurate, very friendly. Steaks were cooked perfectly the way we wanted and the food arrived within 20 min. Great food, and service, we will come back again.

This is my favorite place when traveling through Rockwall. I normally get the same exact thing, I get the steak salad Mr with blu cheese dressing instead of the balsamic dressing. It’s so good! It has diced tomatoes, red onions, green beans, romaine lettuce, diced eggs and potatoes. I can never finish it all. My husband tried the red fish with shrimp and lump crab on top. The fish was baked and it was delicious. My husband said it was so good. The last thing I always order and take home is a slice of carrot cake. It’s big enough for 3 people to share. By far to me this has to be the best carrot cake I have ever tasted. It was busy this evening so we sat at the bar. No big deal had 3 bartenders to wait on us.

Been here many times. Every time I travel to Rockwall for work this is a MUST-HAVE. Dinner salad with the balsamic dressing is probably the best I’ve ever had. The steaks are crazy good. Service is always a 10.

Just had a very nice time. Brought in guests from out of town; they were impressed with the service and the food prep/quality. I think they will go home and speak very highly of Saltgrass. *** One thing took away from an otherwise excellent dining experience — my wife’s bacon wrapped filet was awfully small. She even decided to keep one of the sides she’d offered away just to have more to eat. For a $ 25 plate this was pretty disappointing. We will return and find a better value to order next time.

I’m just not impressed with this restaurant. The service was very slow. Our salads were brought out right away but the rest of our order came over 40 minutes later. Our steaks were good and cooked to the right temperature but the prices seem inflated for the portions. Probably won’t return.

I love Saltgrass, but should’ve known better when my wife called on Dec. 21st and asked for a reservation. She was told they stopped taking them, but that we could call ahead 30 min early on Christmas Eve and get our names on the list. We called 30 min early, and they said«they don’t do that»… An hour and 10 minute wait for a table for five. We stuck it out, and got lucky for a change. There was some kind of Mix-up with the pager they gave us, and it went off after only about 30 minutes. When I approached the reception area, the manager there said,“table for four?”(There were four of us but we were expecting a fifth) I said, «Five, actually» and she indicated they only had us down for two… Anyway, after a brief discussion about what had happened(reservation issue mentioned above) we were seated in about another 10 minutes. The hour and ten turned into only about a forty minute wait(and our fifth never made it) so it turned into a very pleasant experience. The food was awesome as usual(I had the 8 oz steak and grilled gulf shrimp) and the service was superb! THANKYOUKAREE(our server) ANDBARBARA(The manager that helped us get seated right away!!).

Uggggghhhh! What is it with Saltgrass? You guys keep missing the mark!!! Over the last couple of decades that I’ve been eating at Saltgrass, I’ve got to say that the quality of their food has gone down the toilet! I came here last night to use my $ 25 birthday reward for being a Landry’s Select Club member and the food just isn’t what it used to be in days gone by. Point of contention #1 — First off, I heard the hostess tell the couple in front of me and then relay to me that the wait would be about 40 – 45 minutes. Then I whipped out my handy dandy Select Card thinking that would shave off a considerable amount of time. No dice, she said it would only be about a «30−35» minute wait but«didn’t want to promise me anything in case it ended up being longer.» She was young. I said, «I thought the whole point of having one of these cards was that you got priority seating and have to wait only half the time. What’s the point in having one of these if that’s not the case?» She located the manager and we got that squared away — so I thought. The manager confirmed that was correct and that it would only be a 20 minute wait. I said, «Will you let the hostess know?» «Sure, of course!» only to have the same hostess come up to me 10 minutes later and ask if I was still waiting to speak with the manager!!! Once I spoke to the manager AGAIN, we finally got that straightened out where everyone was on the same page — but I still ended up waiting 30 minutes to be seated. Point of contention #2 — I opted for the chicken tortilla soup rather than a salad and I was SODISAPPOINTED to learn that Saltgrass is «testing» out a new version and it’s nothing like the old thicker, more favorable, soup version. This version was brothy and had bunch of rice in it and it was in a small little cup. Horrible and not even close in flavor. I knew it tasted«different» but didn’t realize it was a completely different version until the manager asked how I liked it. Had I known, I would’ve sent it back and ask for a salad. In fact, I’m going to lower my rating down to a «1-star» because of that. Note to management — Don’t jack with what works! Point of contention #3 — I thought I would try something different for an entrée so I ordered the steak and shrimp combo. I typically order Maudeen’s filet which is always tasty, but made a huge mistake ordering the steak & shrimp. First off, I don’t recall what type of cut of meat it was, but I ordered it cooked medium and it was dry. So dry, that I took the leftovers home for my doggies. The shrimp… ah, yes — the fried shrimp. They looked nothing like what’s shown in the photo. They’re tiny little butterfly versions that you can eat in one bite and they were soggy! The baked potato — I ordered it loaded. It had just a tad of butter with maybe a bite of sour cream and a few flecks of grated cheese and bacon bits. Seriously, lacking in condiments. This selection was a major fail and doesn’t pay to try different menu items thinking you’ll save a few bucks. And for what you pay, I expect better quality. Other that those shortcomings, our server was fantastic. Next time I think I’ll try the steak place on the other side of the lake over by Bass Pro. I don’t think they will disappoint.

In for lunch, the place was busy but not crowded, we were seated promptly. The food was cooked correctly and seasoned well, drinks were kept full. 5 stars Our waitress was very attentive but not overwhelming, 5 stars. Our appetites took 35 minutes from time ordered to arrive, other tables seated when we were had started on their main courses. 15 minutes more for our soup and salads. The other tables had now finished eating and paid their checks. Another 15 minutes wait for our main course to arrive. Over an hour wait from the time ordered for lunch to arrive! 1 star. Not sure why our food took so long when clearly the kitchen was capable of producing the food items in a reasonable amount of time. Only condolences from the«manager» was sorry it took so long. Managers response 1 star. Sorry Salt Grass, you need to do better…

I shave been to this Salt Grass once before and had to go back just to have the crab cake appetizer again. For my entrée I had the filet(my favorite cut of meat and pretty much the only steak I eat, what can I say… I’m spoiled to a good filet-rare of course). It was fantastic. And laid to rest on a bed of fried asparagus, which was also prepared perfectly. The crab cakes are a must have! DO Not pass up a his amazing app or u will be sorry!

I have eaten at Salt Grass all over the country. This was by far the worst Rib Eye I have ever received from any Salt Grass. I think they gave me a Sirloin instead of a rib eye. Yes. I know the difference. Wasted money. Fail
