I recently had my parent’s piano restored by Rick Schaeffer, with outstanding results! With their extreme attention to detail, fairly quick turn around time, and competitively priced labor, this is the only place I’ll ever take my Steinway from now on. I also spent several minutes in the showroom speaking to Jim about pianos, the staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I would absolutely recommend Schaeffer’s Pianos to anybody looking to purchase or service any piano.

I came across Schaeffer’s Piano shop because of serendipity(as my car was being fixed across the street). I’m glad I pushed that door. I was greeted by the very nice Orrin. Even though he learned that I wasn’t in the market of shopping a piano, he showed me around the shop(by the way, they carry several brands in the shop, from their own Schaeffer to Steinway to Kawai and others). And, he played jazz just so beautifully. And I was pleasantly surprised when he said some of their pianos are for rental — I might need one some time in the future. The pleasant surprised just continued when Mr. Rick Schaeffer came in. Mr. Schaeffer is the third generation in the Schaeffer’s family, and his expertise is in repairing vintage pianos. He was kind enough to show me his workshop. The moment I saw the pictures on the wall of his grandfather, his father and him, and a display of the old tools for making or fixing pianos, I was thinking to myself: what a great heritage and history! Thanks to Orrin and Mr. Schaeffer, I learned about a great history about pianos in our neighborhood — the Schaeffer brand has been established in the Greater Washington Area since 1901. I would recommend everyone who is in a market shopping for a piano, or is passionate about piano check out their store, which is just across the Rockillve Metro Station. I’m sure I will go back some day.
