Came here on a rainy day to enjoy some shopping and unfortunately it is closed for good. Permanently closed. :*(

NAMI Montgomery County is great hidden gem! I bought a nice Ann Taylor work pants for 8 dollars and other clothes for my children. I have also bought a large oak bookshelf that was $ 25 bucks and it had a built in light… what a steal!

I use to come here when they were located on Connecticut Ave in Kensington. The problem with this location is that it is hidden in the back of a warehouse area off Parklawn; a not so trafficked area. There is a small sign, but you practically pass it, and then miss the only entrance into the lot. The new location is huge. The problem I have is that items are grossly overpriced. There are very little vintage items, unless you count coffee mugs from the 70s as vintage. Literally, they have dozens upon dozens of coffee mugs and glassware. Most are very worn and the thing is they are all priced differently; usually $ 1.00−3.00 for a scratched up mug. The Dollar Tree sells brand new mugs and guess what? They’re a dollar! They had cookie sheets that were more money than Wallmart. Also, the used books they sell are overpriced. A child’s paperback for $ 2.00? Folks, make a right on Boilingbrook Pkwy and head to the Goodwill Shop. Children’s books are fifty cents there. I bought books at a public library for $ 0.25. At the time of my visit they had very little quality furniture. If you like Unique Thrift, you will like this place. I did not peruse the clothes racks, but I assume they were not bargain priced based on the other prices I saw. I will say that I love their mission. I have been to their charity dinner banquet twice, and when I get around to my spring cleaning I plan to bring my stuff here. No offence, but if I am shopping at a thrift store, I want thrify prices.

I absolutely LOVE this place!!! The staff are friendly and helpful and the clothes are always amazing!!! I have found so many unique, beautiful pieces here. I have never walked in without finding something I have to have! I also really love that they set it up not only by clothing type but by clothing color… all the grey items are together, all the red together etc. I don’t know why but this makes it so much easier to shop. I do a lot of thrift shopping and this is my favorite spot… not to mention they work towards a good cause. Check it out… buy don’t buy the stuff I want :)

Well organized and easy to search for what your looking for. I found a couple items i liked, but i felt the prices were much higher than they should have been for a thrift store. With so many better options in the area, i probably won’t be back.

Nami thrift shop is not just a thrift shop. NAMI stands for the National Alliance of Mental Illness. You can drive up and drop off donations at any time. You can also go into their shop and check out some of the wares. The day I came to drop off my donations, a young man named Adam was extremely kind and courteous– offering help and a receipt for the items donated. Truly, a very friendly face… kinda what your looking for when you go to do good deeds. I’ve found some great things at NAMI. Their clothes selection is very organized! A huge plus if you’re a thrift store connoisseur. They don’t have a lot in the ways of housewares, but as per usual, you can always find something fun that’s hidden. Some of my better finds at Nami Thrift Store is a Sarah Palin costume for Halloween. A vintage Italian tomato crusher. A bunch of dress pants There have been so many things. Nami takes these proceeds and uses them to run classes, educational seminars, and what not for people with mental illness. They also help to train mental health counselors as well. They also hire people with mental illness to help run the thrift shop and go through all the donations. It’s truly a wonderful place!

I’ve talked to the management and emailed that their prices are waaaay too high for what they are selling… other stores have better prices and more vast selection… won’t be going back.

Excellent customer service. The lady at the cashier was very helpful and she told me about the additional discount. They have special, where they give you a bag and whatever you can fit in the bag. It’s yours for ten dollars. That’s only on special occasions. They had a decent variety of vintage suits but the customer service alone will have me coming back. –Cochise

I feel like a bad person saying it’s meh since you know the whole charity thing but it is what it is. They have a great book selection for cheap(hardback $ 1, paperback $.50) but besides that, thumbs down my friends. Clothing and home goods were way overpriced, furniture looked like it was from the Brady Bunch and the place stank of sweat, mothballs and Chinese take out… and not in a good way. Add a cashier didn’t know how to give change and I won’t be making another trip here in the future.

There are so many thrift stores along the pike, and I must say, it does not particularly stand out, clothing-wise. Medium sized, average selection. Maybe I just went on the wrong day. The best part was the jewelry selection, they’ve got a bunch of funky vintage clip ons. I will say that it’s insanely cheap, since there’s a 50% off Mother’s day sale going on right now. I’d say go for Goodwill for your thrifty needs.

I love browsing in this store! They always have the most funky vintage 70s stuff. The shop is well organized, clean, with good lighting. I always stop in on my way to Goodwill.

How is this place not reviewed yet? A handy little thrift shop filled with the tossed goods of a middle-income suburbia. Men’s and women’s clothing, and some jewelry… a few pieces of furniture and a vast mug collection are but a few of the treasures you’ll find here. There’s even a trunk full of cassette tapes from the 80s and 90s! So come on down and get your kajagoogoo on while your thrift dollars go to a good cause… to help the mentally ill.
