This is IT! Go no further. You have found perfection. We just completed a 3 night stay. Excellent room, front of the house, second floor. Very quiet. No sidewalk in front of house, so no pedestrian traffic. Adjacent buildings are sufficiently distant to not interfere. Generous parking, within steps of the entrance. Lovely back yard patio with abundant flowers, plants, hanging bench swing and privacy. The proprietor did not hover nor was it necessary for us to ask for anything. Cable tv, with generous number of channels, free wifi, special facecloths for makeup removal, good shower head and plenty of quality hangers. …and the Breakfast. Oh My! Everything made on the premises by the proprietor. Baked biscuits, baked miniature muffins with a variety of brands; fresh strawberries, blueberries and melon. Soft boiled eggs over spinach or scrambled eggs, sliced sausage or bacon soft or crisp, …and an apple bread type pudding with syrup. Dining room has a refrigerator, micro, ice maker, coffee and tea 24⁄7 and wine glasses and cocktail glasses. The only way this could improve is to offer it in the morning and the evening! At one point we asked about a recipe and the proprietor/chef gave us a verbal rundown, with details, and a proud delivery that you knew came from experience and success. You can tell when your in a first class operation when the service and the servers are hardly noticed. Everything is in front of you without asking and there are few if any«how is everything» inquiries. There is a difference between what is available and what is provided. This breakfast was an event, well orchestrated, with subtlety and exceptional quality. Do your self a favor and BOOKIT; but do us a favor and make it for mid-week so the Big weekends are available for us! Suzanne and Joe

The Sally Webster Inn changed ownership last fall, and is now in the hands of Suzan(«spell it the way it’s pronounced») and Dean. Outstanding has only gotten better. Both are über-congenial hosts. And their black cat, Woodstock, gets into the act by not«hovering» yet being more than happy to pay a social visit to your room. I just got back from my thirteenth stay there, the fourth under new management.(My earlier«TL;DR» post was after my first.) That should tell you more than the fact that I’m a creature of habit. For a rejuvenating getaway that’s little more than an hour from North Station, but feels a lot farther away, you could hardly do better. Best of all, a visit there doesn’t break the bank — even mine. Be sure to visit their Web site before you go, ’cause there are all sorts of specials posted there.(A ticket for the Shalin Liu Performing Arts Center scores you 10% off the going rate, for instance.) Just go!
