Mike’s Pizza recently moved across the street from its old location and nearly doubled in size. The inside is fresh and unlike anything else in Rockland, let alone the standard fare pizzeria and sub shop it was before. It looks like it belongs on Nantasket Ave with its surf shack theme. The cool blue and neon green against a clean sandy earth-tone wooden floor pop — it’s modern, it’s simple, and it’s different. Walls are adorned with humorous signs, surf boards and other beach items, and a shark head with a «politician» in its jaws, which gets me every time. There is a lot of room for seating, with plenty of booth seating. It’s comfy and laid back. I am a frequent customer in the summer, often stopping during my exercise routine for lunch, so the cook and some of the wait staff know my usual order and are friendly to me. I usually get a grilled chicken club sub(bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo,) toasted. The lettuce is always crisp and thin-sliced, and I am a huge fan of how they marinate their chicken. The bacon is crispy, but not dry and overdone. Other favorites of mine are the turkey cobbler, which combines Thankgiving sides into a tasty sandwich, although I like adding lettuce to mine; their steak bomb is juicy and I had no problem with gristle in the meat; their pan pizzas have a strong crust which doesn’t limp over when you pick up a slice. I felt that the time I got a Greek salad, it was a little heavy on the feta cheese, but otherwise fresh and enjoyable. They are usually speedy in service even under high order volume, both in delivery and sit-in. They usually deliver faster than the time estimate they give you over the phone. One of the times I did eat in with my fiancé and ordered pizza, they let us know right away they had an oversight in my pizza and there would be a delay as they corrected it, which I felt was courteous as opposed to giving it to me without half of my toppings. While waiting, I did try out his barbeque chicken pizza, where the sauce was drizzled all over and each bite was rich with flavor. When they had completed my order to request, the pizza was piping hot out of the oven, fresh, coated evenly in tender bits of steak, pepper, and onion, and it was absolutely delicious. They did not just cook the other toppings separately and let the rest of the pizza sit and cool to make up for lost time and ingredients. That is excellent service in my book. There was one night we entered about 20 minutes before close, and were still served — some businesses can be finicky about this. I tried out their fried calamari platter, which I got with a marinara dipping sauce and fries. It was about the quality you would expect from a formal, run-of-the-mill seafood restaurant, and I really liked it for more reasons than just that. I felt that this kind of food was just what the town needed. There are enough cafes, Greek, Italian, and Chinese eateries in town, but little in the way of seafood. Currently, it seems that they only have most things available fried, although they do have baked fish and grilled shrimp as options. You would have to still go out of your way if you wanted something more exotic than what they have to offer, but it’s still nice to see them expanding in this direction. Cakes, brownies, fried ice cream, fried twinkies, and cookies make up their dessert selection. I have not tried any of these yet; I do remember in the old store they’d have some of their desserts, such as the cheesecake, pre-sliced and displayed at the front counter and ready to go on request, and it did look tempting. Their coolers have water, sodas, juice, iced tea, and Gatorade, and it’s always well-stocked. Beer and wine are available for adults dining in, but I have not inquired about it and do not know which beers and wines they offer. Noise levels are usually low when I go there. It is popular with students after school so it can get crowded in the afternoon, but for the most part, the kids are mature. Recommended for inexpensive family dining both in and out. I have yet to have a truly negative experience here after dozens of visits over the last 3 years.

Called for a pick up order. The girl on the other end seemed annoyed after ordering one item. With each additional item she had a sigh in her tone. In closing I said thanks and she welcomed me but no gratitude on her part for my business. Customer service seems to be lacking. Hopefully the food is better than the service.

Wretched food. I’m used to subs with either Boar’s Head or Thurmann’s cold cuts. Ordered a turkey sub with lettuce, tomato and mayo, no cheese. First of all they put cheese on it, there was very little lettuce, the tomatoes were mealy(could understand this in February, but not August), there was also NO mayo on my sub. The cheese sticks were microwaved and like rubber. Overall the quality was that of an elementary school lunch.

This place is wonderful. I order lunch here at least 2 – 3 times per week if not more, while working in the office at Casey Movers. The pizza is great, sometimes on the greasy side but easily forgivable. My daughter loves it. I often order the chicken cutlet sub, but have also had the steak and cheese which is good as well as the grilled chicken salads. The best part about this place is the prompt delivery service. They usually say about thirty minutes… but it’s often more like five. Needless to say, it is my top choice in the area, because not only is the pizza good, but they do a great job with other options.

Solid pizza/sub shop. Good food, friendly personnel and fast service. The chicken broccoli and ziti is a 10. Pretty good prices and portions. Loaded fries are also a favorite. Great lunch spot.

Good enough. A-OK. Sufficient. Decent. Alright. PICKANADJECTIVE! ANYADJECTIVE! This place is(see above). I’ve had a few things off the menu at lunch time, mostly hot or cold sandwiches and pretty much everything I’ve had is(see above). The location itself is your typical pizza joint with plastic tables and not much else(although there are TVs to keep you entertained). So bonus points for consistency but I have to take points off for being(see above). All-in-all, if you’re in the area and looking for a quick bite, don’t pass this place up. But if you’re thinking about venturing here from afar, you might do better to look elsewhere.

For a neighborhood pizza, subs, and pasta place, Mike’s hits the spot. We’re not talking gourmet food, but when you don’t want to cook and would rather order out, consider Mike’s. Subs, sandwiches, pasta(their penne and broccoli alfredo is nothing short of divine), and platters fill most of their menu. However, you may be surprised to know they also offer Mexican food. Although I’ve never had it, my better half has and he’s commented that it’s «not half bad.» As for the pizza, it is a typical Greek pie. We’ve ordered it on several occasions and for $ 10 for a large pizza, the price isn’t bad. We haven’t been real impressed with the pizza(mostly we order it out of sheer convenience than anything). The edge of the crust is most always crispy, but the rest is frequently soggy loaded with lots of cheese. I won’t recommend the pizza, but I’ll recommend it on the subs and pasta.

Low cost, quick service, and very tasty pizza. Parking is on the street. Recently went for a Chicken Caesar Wrap– don’t get it. Way too bulky, not enough dressing on it either. Stick with pizza here, in my opinion at least.

It’s ok at best. It’s pretty much the only game in the center of town which is in a real depression retail wise.

I love Mike’s. No — that isn’t an exaggeration. Yes — their service and food is awesome. But to be fair — I order the same exact thing most of the time. They have the BEST salads in the area. THE B-E-S-T. They are a great portion, lots of good stuff on it(not just a pile of lettuce) and if you get a salad topped with grilled chicken(which I highly recommend) you get a ton of grilled, marinated chicken that is absolutely delicious. There subs are also really yummy and they fill them with what you actually ordered(not just tons of lettuce or other fillers). Delivery is always quick(even on busy Friday night) prices are cheap and the service is friendly if you go in. Mikes is DEFINITELY a bright spot on Union Street(where more bright spots are needed!)

I’m pretty sure Mike’s takes the prize for«Highest Number of Employees in a Pizza Place Ever in the History of Mankind.» Seriously, there are soooo many people that work here. It’s a popular place, but not because their food is awesome or anything. Mike’s is your average greasy fried food and pizza joint. The pizza is OK. The chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks are awesome. Hmmm, I’m not sure that I’ve ever eaten anything else from here so that’s all I can really say. These days, if I want Rockland-raised pizza, I go to Papa John’s(it kind of pains me to direct people to chain restaurants but Papa John’s is just so.damn.good.).
