I came to Anitas upon reading such great reviews. I walked in with high expectations, after my meal I walked out wholeheartedly dissapointed. I ordered the Hash omelette w/bacon, homefries, and toast. The waitress brought my order to the cook, who was visible from where I sat. I noticed the cook wasnt wearing any gloves, that itself didnt bother me until I observed her shoving food in her mouth with bare hands, while in front if the grill cooking. All sorts of red flags had begun their acension. Then those flags were hoisted full mast as I watched her handle raw meat(with same bare hands, unwashed and after putting food in her mouth). Why I didnt leave right there and then is beyond me, unfortunately i stayed and waited for my meal. As the plate was placed in front of me, all looked well and my worries began to fade. That is until I bit into the homefries… Sorry had to take a pause as I reflect in disgust. The potatoes were ICE cold, BONE dry, and devoid of any recognizable flavor, I dont know what possesed me to continue, but I went on to try the omelette, Ill give it a «mehhh» The hash wasnt of good quality at all, and hadnt been cooked thoroughly. Really the only edible item I was served was the toast, so hey atleast there was that. Maybe I had a look of disgust, or they already knew the answer, but from the time I was served till I left, I was not asked once the usual«how is everything» or «can i get you anything else». Instead I got a bill placed in front of me whilst still a full plate in front of me and nor was it requested… I dont know why I DIdnt listen to my gut and just leave, now I get to listen to my gut as its contents are violently expelled from my body, not to mention, lose a days pay as i am to ill to go into work. By far the worst breakfast experience Ive ever had the«pleasure» of experiencing, Id rate 0 stars if possible. The only thing thats sicker than me, is the fact that I still paid and tipped 20%!

Breakfast on a bagel is one of their best food options! The bagels are always fresh and unbelievably soft. Great place and always good service!

Great service! A local gem. Definitely a place for the towns people to gather at the breakfast counter and enjoy a yummy meal. Food is basic American diner style and great value. Will be going back again soon!

I recently started coming to Anita Marie’s when I take my dog to Hair Club for Pets(which is right next door). I have never had bad service, the food is great. Their chocolate chip pancakes amazing and huge. I love their BLT omelette. The home fries are delicious. Had a local family diner feel to it. I love this place!!!

Me and my mom went there for the first time. We’ll be back she had the big breakfast with bacon and french toast 2 eggs and home fries. I got an omelet with spinach tomatoes and cheese. Mom ate all of her breakfast. A nice touch with the onions added to the home fries if you want. The food and service were both great she couldn’t stop raving and said it made her day we will go back :)

Great old feel diner with multiple breakfast options. We came with a group of 8 and everyone left pleasantly full. The biscuits and gravy were amazing. Also the breakfast quesadilla was large enough for two people. They had a pulled pork omelet special that tasted as good as it sounds. To top it off, the staff was attentive and friendly. Will be back!

It is an old fashioned place. You can feel it in the air. Interior design of the store is from sixties or seventies. Most customers seems like regulars. I and my wife were there for the first time and everyone in the store was looking at us. There is no ventilation in the place so you smell like breakfast place when you leave. I ordered three cheese omlet with home made fries with onion and sourdough toast and my wife ordered steak tips on rice and veggies. My eggs were cooked well but my fries were over done and very dry. My wife’s steak tips, rice and veggies were good but steak tips were not marinated. Service was friendly and fast. There was no waiting time for the table.

For the past 20+ years coming here for breakfast, I’ve never had a bad meal here. It started when I was a young kid coming here with my family I would always get 2 cheese omelets and a large juice. Now since the price has gone up a bit since the 90’s(plus my appetite changes constantly) I just get a different meal each time. All the waitresses are nice and food is consistently awesome. Def come here if you’re looking for a great meal.

Anita Marie’s is definitely a greasy spoon and it’s always full to the brim with regulars, especially when the church down the street lets out. If I didn’t have family in the area, I would never have known this place existed. It’s in the heart of Rockland, about a 10 – 15 minute drive from the highway. I always get the Eggs Benedict and they give you a choice between cheese and hollandaise sauce. I normally go for the cheese(although once I was convinced by the waitress to at least try the Hollandaise and it was really good). The prices are awesome! Everything is super cheap. Me and the hubby leave completely stuffed for less than $ 20. The waitstaff is always really friendly, especially Rachael and Meg.

This seems more like a breakfast/diner place than a donut place. They didn’t have much of a selection of donuts. The danishes are very good. They make them a little differently, with a buttery croissant dough.

This is one of my favorite breakfast places in greater Boston. We happened upon Anita Marie’s about five years ago while visiting relatives in Rockland, and now I’ll drive from Dorchester to Rockland(about 25 miles) just for their delicious breakfast. The eggs are so fresh, and I think they use Jumbo eggs as well. Their home fries are absolutely the best I’ve ever had. Always fresh and hot, and not prepackaged. They give you a choice of with or without onions and I like them with onions. Bacon, ham, and sausage’s always taste fresh. The pancakes are nice and moist and flavorful, and the coffee is great. I enjoy sitting at the counter and taking in the back and forth from the regulars and watching the news on tv. I’ll normally order the 2 egg breakfast that comes with bacon, home fries, and toast for $ 5.00. Coffee is an additional $ 1.50. The service is always very attentive and friendly, the owner is always doing the cooking, and they always keep the restaurant very clean. I highly recommend Anita Marie’s.

Look, I support local businesses to the hilt and I wanted to love this place, but I simply cannot recommend it for eggs and potatoes, my breakfast staples. What is the deal with breakfast places using dehydrated potatoes for hash browns? They are an abomination: always dry, always bland, and something I hadn’t encountered until I moved to the South Shore – no place in the city serves that crap, and I’ve tried dozens looking for delicious hash browns. Another issue I find in a lot of local breakfast places is brown, overcooked omelets; at what point did short order cooks learn to overcook the hell out of omelets? An omelet should be moist and velvety yellow on the outside, not brown and scarred looking. Anita Maries does serve a ton of locals, and God bless em, they love the joint, but this is a little lowbrow for my tastes. They do offer to put onions(though very raw tasting) on those ‘browns, but it couldn’t save them. Sigh.

Unfortunately, unless you live in Rockland or in the area nearby — you would never know this place is here(which is good for me — less of a wait for a breakfast table!) but it means a LOT are missing out on GOOOOOD breakfasts! It is your typical small town diner-type atmosphere, kind of cramped, and LOTS of regulars. But the service is extremely friendly, and FAST and the food is GREAT! This is by far my favorite place in the area to have breakfast. They have a great varied breakfast menu(REALLY good hashbrowns) and always have really great breakfast specials. Makes Sunday mornings very enjoyable!
