If you’re looking for some Thai food fixin’ in Rockford, I’d recommend Thai Hut. The décor inside is a 5⁄5. They have a lovely set up with a wide range of music, but my favorite part are the tables in the back that allow you to sit on a cushion on the ground. It makes the meals more homey, and quite honestly, I feel more comfortable sitting on the ground chatting and eating than on a table! The food is A-OK. They do quantify the spice levels with numbers at the beginning of the menu, which is awesome, so that you don’t get an ambiguous reading when you say you want your food to be «spicy.» The aspect that made it ok is that it lacked some flavor. I’ve ordered the pad thai and the drunken noodles, both which were cooked well and had ample vegetables; however, the flavor was average. There wasn’t a kick of flavor, or anything that made the dish unique; sometimes I had to add more sauce to add a little flavor to the dish. That being said, it wasn’t terrible! If you’re feeling some thai food, this will satisfy all your cravings. :D I’ll definitely be back again!

Good food and friendly service. It’s a little different than an average Thai restaurant, but they have some original flavors that my family enjoys.

I agree with other reviewers that this place has the best Thai food in Rockford, but I would add that Thai Hut is the best Asian restaurant in Rockford by a good margin. The food is consistently hot, fresh and very well prepared. The service is great as well, I’ve never had to ask for a drink refill or for plates to be removed. Kid friendly. This is our go-to restaurant.

(+) Best Thai in Rockford. Good Vegetables, Meat, and Rice. (-) Panang Curry tasted like peanut sauce + chili oil. Not a fan. I like how panang curry is supposed to taste.

I ordered a Panang curry which was well portioned. It was VERY peanut-y, which didn’t bother me… but if you aren’t a big fan of peanut butter flavored curry, I’d avoid this dish. I thought it wasn’t bad. My fiancé ordered a Pad See Ew. The portion was small for the price and a bit under seasoned. He said he wouldn’t order it again(he liked my curry too).

Stopped here for dinner. It was delicious. The red curry was bursting with flavor. We also tried the sampler platter. It was very good. The thai hut special was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone.

The best Thai food in Rockford. The food is always hot and very close to the spice you desire. The owners are always welcoming and the staff are on top of their game. Thus, making sure the customer likes their food. If for some reason you are not happy they will offer something else or take the food off your bill. 10 out 10!

The Tom Kah Gai was great! As was the Chicken Satay. But the Green Curry and Phad Sei Ew let me down. They were both ok. I would come back here and try other dishes though!

Food is between average and slightly above average depending on the dish, but overall it’s pretty decent. Service has been very good in my own experience, except a couple times but that was during lunch hour which I can understand. I’d rate this a 3 and a half star for food and a 4 for service.

Amazing Thai food! I have been here a hand full of times and I’ve never been disappointed. The atmosphere is amazing, they even have a section that you can sit in without shoes in high booths(seems really traditional, but it’s fun). One of the best things about this place is that you can pick how spicy you want your food off a spicy scale of 1 – 5. They have good food and friendly service. Some of my favorites include: Potstickers Chicken Satay Crab Rangoon Side salad(which comes with AMAZING house dressing) Pad Thai(chicken, beef and tofu are all amazing) Pad-see-iew(I’ve only tried it with beef and loved if) I can’t really eat super spicy food but a spicy level of 3 has always been tasty for me!

Overall food is overpriced and quality is not that great. Panang curry was a peanut sauce bomb and crab rangoon was a cream cheese bomb.

Thai hut is amazing! The Tom Yum Soup is so good and addictive! It’s never really too busy and the service is very attentive. Everything is fresh and tasty. The best Thai place around!

I got takeout. Ordering was easy and straightforward. The young man on the phone was very careful that I knew what I was ordering(clarifying that fresh spring rolls aren’t fried… important distinction!) and inquiring about the spiciness level of my dish. That was nice. The fresh spring rolls were different than what i usually get back home in DC. These weren’t clear cellophane type wrappers, but more of a thin crêpe type wrapper. They were warm, with crispy cucumber, seasoned tofu, lettuce and herbs. A nice change from normal rolls. The peanut sauce was good as well– very creamy. I had drunken noodles with vegetables as my main dish. Again, the noodles were a little different than what I normally get(credit card sized individual noodles). These were long and thick. That made the texture odd. The sauce was pleasantly spicy. The vegetables were interesting– a good mix of carrots, broccoli, and some surprises like cauliflower and tomatoes. The dish could have used more basil or something else to make it more flavorful. There were a couple of pieces of tofu thrown on the dish as well. They seemed like an afterthought since they weren’t particularly flavorful. Good enough experience overall, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again.

So passing through this town, and I was hungry after a good gym session, thus had a craving for some Thai food: D The Thai ice coffee, pretty good, especially the the first 5 – 6 sips, after that mostly watery coffee, LOL But good! The Green curry with Chicken, not bad, have had better, and this is b/c the spicy-curry gravy was not as rich and thick as I like it to be. The Pad-see-ew, was very good, with the right Thai spices, veggies, and thick flat noodles that are used to make it. I recommend this to anyone that likes Asian noodles! Overall, very nicely decorated restaurant with a lot of wood work and statues all around the this place. They even serve Singha beer, which is a plus for those that love Thai beer! A little expensive for lunch though, but won’t hurt your wallet if you go only once a month.

Let me first say that I love Thai food! Thai food is complex, not only in its taste but in color and aroma. There is great emphasis on detail. This restaurant, in my opinion, has the best Thai food in the greater Rockford area. I’ve been here multiple times and always enjoy my visits. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Many Thailand pictures and wooden carvings throughout the restaurant, even a table in the front with travel pamphlets on Thailand. The food is incredible! Rich, creamy curry dishes are my favorite here. My favorite dish, which I ordered almost always, is Penang Chicken Curry! The coconut and peanut curry is amazing! The scale on the spice is 1 – 5, one being lower spice(adding more coconut milk), 5 being«spicy». This is the«American Scale». They have a secret scale, which goes to about 50. This is for customers to like extra spicy. I definitley go for extra spicy and love it! The wait staff are extremely helpful if you are having difficulty deciding on what to order. They take their time and explain everything in detail, definitely 5 stars for those guys! It’s not extremely fast service, if thats what you’re used to, but I felt they took their time and wanted you to take your time and actually«enjoy» your meal instead of rushing you in and out!

Amazing and authentic food. The service is incredible great, the owner, host, serves, all patient, informed, helpful and very familiar with each dish. I was very impressed by the knowledge and feedback while ordering. Comparison to other Thai restaurants: Living in Chicago, there’s a thai place at every corner. Thai Hut is very unique and can’t wait to visit Rockford to eat here again. PERSONALSTORY: Lost my wallet in their very comfortable booth. The owner emailed me since the only thing to go off was my name on my credit card. Thank you for an excellent dinner away from home!
