I’m not sure how this isn’t a 4 ½ or 5 on Unilocal reviews! There was nothing we didn’t like about this place! Cool atmosphere, lots of great beers and wine, variety and decent prices! The pizza is phenomenal. I had just the Margherita pizza while my wife went a little more brave with the Zoe, and we were stoked! My toddlers-who are very picky and don’t normally like pizza, devoured theirs and took bites of ours! The oven, brought over from Italy, is a true wood hearth oven and the pizza is authentic Italian-style with a hint of NY-style. It takes only seconds to cook, but the flavor is still vivid weeks later in my mind! Everything was fresh, the process is quick and the price is very reasonable! Best pizza I’ve had in the South by far and very comparable to Rome!

I’ve heard all good comments about Millstone, I read the Unilocal reviews and notice people basically either love this place or hate it. I noticed the negative reviews have a few things in common and I’ll take it upon myself to clarify a few things, 1) wood fired pizza will ALWAYS have some black spots on the bottom, it’s not burnt. 2) if you think something is expensive it’s possible your not in the right restaurant, I personally consider the prices very fair for what you get. 3) they have FOURTY beers on tap, great food and a great atmosphere, if you want crappy pizza and a Coke, Pizza Hut is down the street. Now to my review, the service was outstanding, our server made a recommendation and I’m extremely happy he did, my pizza was exceptional, the beer was very cold, the water we where served upon sitting down was cold and clearly not city water. There really isn’t anything we didn’t like about anything. Millstone will be added to our rotation and we will be visiting many more times. Update — the food is amazing, I’m still amazed an Irish guy owns the place.

Went here for a late lunch with my best friend. The pizza was absolutely delicious, our waitress was very nice, and the setting was comfortable! I loved that our water was served in a glass container where we could pour as much or as little as we pleased. Price was reasonable for the delicious meal!

Let’s me start by saying this is the BEST pizza I have ever had! My husband LOVES pizza and he concurred with my taste buds. Pizza 5 Stars. We decided to go here after a suggestion was made by one of my co-workers. She knew I love craft beer and who does not love pizza. The day we went the parking lot was closed off as they were preparing for the Craft beer festival. We were lucky enough to meet the owner of Millstone. Jason was friendly, welcomed us warmly and encouraged us to stay for the festival. With 21 beers to sample, it was very tempting. We opted for a late lunch with pizza and some craft brews in the restaurant. GA was at 6p, which is a little later than we like especially for a brew fest. We were greeted by Kat our server and noticing the bar was full, we quickly nabbed a booth. The décor is rustic with an open ceiling. The walls were peppered with all kinds of music posters and unusual oddities, which created a fun atmosphere. I could have stayed there for hours just listening to the classic rock — GNR, CCR, U2, Black Crowes, Dobbie Brothers to Tommy Tutone. Yes, GNR, U2 and Black Crowes are now considered classics. Boy, do I feel old. Kat gave us a few to decide on our first brews. While waiting she delivered an olive oil bottle with slightly chilled water and two short classes. The water tasted odd with a hint of soapiness. It would have probably been better if there was ice. For my first brew, I ordered the Centennial IPA from Founders Brewing. It was horrible and I barely was able to finish it. I ordered a different beer for the second round and it was horrible. So this tells me, either I am a poor judge of beer(highly unlikely) or there is a possible issue with their taps, lines and/or kegs. This was confirmed when we tried the same Founders brew at T. Mac and it was completely opposite. In fact, I rated this beer a 4.75 on Untapped. Glad I waited to review. Although he selection of beers were impressive(37 on tap with your die hards of Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite and Michelob Ultra), there was definitely something amiss with the taps. The keg to tap ratio is rather short, so maybe a good cleaning is in order. We noticed that they have a wood fire oven and Jason also has a truck with pizza prepared the same way. Mobile goodness! We ordered The Zoe — white garlic sauce, prosciutto di parma, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, local goat cheese, mozzarella, basil, olive oil. It came in 8 slices and we devoured it. Seriously, I never have four slices in one sitting but this time I could not help myself and the best thing, other than the fabulous taste, was I did not get bloated on bread. They have an excellent proactive way to keep track of what customers try regarding their beers. When you check out, the receipt lists all the beers you sampled. This is a great way to understand your customer’s beer palates. I give 2 stars for beer tastes, 3 for beer prices, and 5 stars for service, pizza and ambiance.

Best pizza I’ve had in South Carolina. Bar none. Headed here after a friend told us about their awesome brew and pizza selections. I love pizza and she had me at beer. So we went. Our first visit just happened to coincide with their Craft Beer Festival. Schwing! 21 more breweries to try in addition to the 37 rotating beers they have on tap. The festival cost $ 25 for general admission. Unlike most festivals this one began for VIPS at 5PM and 6PM for us low lifes. That’s a bit later than I like, but I’m not complaning. Didn’t know this was even happening. Besides, we came for the restaurant, so that’s what I’m here to review. We met Jason. The owner. Great guy. He told us all about the festival and the restaurant. Great brand enthusiasm. Made me a true believer before I even stepped inside. The restaurant is a decent size. The bar was packed with pre-party types so we had to find a table. Kat was our server. Kat rocks. Very knowledgeable and she worked the room like a champ. She also brought us samples and had the brews in our hands in a jiffy. I love the setup. They have a wood fired stove for the pizza, and open seating area with the bar opposite the kitchen. The doors lift up Asheville style and the music was like a best music lovers fest. They had the best of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and today. Everybody seemed to know the tunes and sang along. The food was Da Bomb. Best Pizza I’ve had in SC. Chose the 16″ Zoe. It had white garlic sauce, prosciutto do parma, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, LOCAL goat cheese, mozzarella, basic, and olive oil. The crust was just burnt enough for my taste and the first bite took me back to the time I lived in Italy. Crazy good taste. Loved it. Regarding the beers. I came for the beer, but every beer I had was unremarkable. That being said, they have a rotating tap so I’m sure the next time I come it will be a whole new world. I will, however, say that I visited another establishment and re-tried the beers I had at Millstone and I’m thinking that Millstone must have had several bad batches or there’s something wrong with their tap lines. Do I love the is place? Heck yeah! I love the atmosphere, the food, and the staff. Shout out to Kat and Jason. I also love that they have a rotating tap. Makes me want to come back and try everything new. Muy Bueno Millstone. Solid 4-Stars for now. I’ll reconsider upon testing the next round of brews.

Have been here before. Pizza and beer selection always good. Service has been average on our previous visits. Stopped in yesterday for some dinner and beers but never had that chance. Horrible service. Hostess had a bit of a surly attitude as she met us at the door and led us to our table. Not crowded at all compared to other times we have gone. Probably less then half full. Sat at the table and sat at the table with absolutely no acknowledgement by wait staff. Had no idea who our server was as we could not get eye contact from any of them. The hostess looked at us a few times but that was about it. The wait staff did seem to like to stand up by the bar and chat. So bad that a customer that was sitting near us apologized to us for the bad service we were receiving. Will have to think twice about returning here in the future. There are many more similar options to Millstone in the area to have to put up with this level of service.

The food was pretty good… Nothing to write home about, but as far as wood fired pizza goes it’s pretty standard. We ordered a large meat pizza, and despite the absolutely horrid service it did come out hot. The meats are good and the cheese is fresh. The bottled water they bring for the table is a nice touch as well. It’s a little loud inside, but it’s mostly a bar so it comes with the territory. The happy hour helped though. Cheap cider is always my friend. Overall we came away with the opinion of… «meh». It was good, but I’ve had better for cheaper.

GETTHEREEARLYFORLOCALBEER. Love the goat cheese and sausage pizza. Service is good and there is plenty of beer choices. Get a sampler of beer if you can’t decide. CAUTION: some of the local beers on tap will sell out early so keep that In mind if you want to try local. Larger groups may have to wait a while. It’s a busy place.

Good pizza. The prices are a bit high and more like you are in Charlotte than Rock Hill. The place is always cold inside(about 65F). In the winter that means everything from the kitchen is almost cold when it hits the table. It’s frustrating. Then when you mention it to the staff they explain how they are hot and never do anything about it like turn up the heat. Does not help that the ventilation in the building is wrong for a restaurant and need to be fixed. There is a suction on the door that pulls in cold air. Simple things that could make this place awesome pick it apart and make it a so so experience.

We sat there for 13 minutes. No server came to see us. When we walked in they told us to have a seat anywhere. So we got up and left nothing was still said to us.

Overall, small place with a great beer selection and pretty good pizza too! Since I’m from Charlotte, I’m not very familiar with the restaurant selection in Rock Hill. My wife and my first pick was over an hour wait, and found Millstone Pizza and Taproom through a quick scroll through our Unilocal app(saved my butt more than a few times). Strolling in partway through a Friday night, we had a brief 15 minute wait which we decided to get a drink. The beer selection was larger than I expected with an ample number of local drafts on tap. Our party was called shortly afterward and we started to peruse the menu for dinner. Our party of 4 decided to split the garlic knot appetizer, fungi pizza, and a cookie for dessert. Turned out to be more than enough food! The garlic knots are exactly how you would picture a garlic knot to be — big, buttery, and covered in chunks of garlic. Not exactly best for your breath, but hey, I’m off the clock! The pizza was great too! Made me want to figure out how to make a brick oven in my backyard so I can get similar results! The biggest surprise of the night was the pizza cookie we ordered. It was also, as I’m sure you guessed, cooked in the brick oven in the style of a 10″ cookie they cut into slices. I’m a sucker for sweets, but this seemed to be a big hit all around. The atmosphere gave off a very chill vibe, which was what we were looking for at the time so we could unwind and catch up with friends. If we came back to the area, we would certainly consider this place again!

We came out here on a Friday night to meet another couple. The wait was about 15 minutes or so… perfect amount of time to grab a drink at the bar. The beer selection was excellent. Lots of local options and a variety of types. I ended up with the Noda Hop Drop and Roll. For an appetizer, we ordered the garlic knots. The order came with 4 decent sized knots and a dipping sauce. They were super garlicky and delish! We decided to split the Fungi pizza. The pizza had an olive oil based sauce and was very good. The pizza and garlic knots was definitely the perfect amount to feed the 4 of us. If I ever find myself out in this area again, will definitely consider this place for a bite!

Came here looking for something to eat in Rock Hill after flying in from Charlotte late at night. Pizza sounded like the best option, so Millstone it was. This place has kind of a hipster-y vibe to it. They have a pretty decent selection of pizza and local beers. The garlic knots were delicious, but the portion size could have been bigger. I would have loved to eat a few more of those! The two of us split a meat pizza, and we even had a slice left over. Pizza was good. The service was alright, but could have been better. Communication among staff was not the best– we had 4 different servers come over and ask us for our order. Other than this miscommunication, service was good. Each of these servers made sure that we were comfortable and had everything that we needed.

Cool atmosphere and dining experience. Simple menu with some unique pizza and beer selections. All pizza comes with a white sauce over a red sauce unless otherwise asked for or specified. The funghi pizza was very tasty. Garlic knots were a small portion but excellent as well. For a pizza lover this establishment was a good choice.

Solid eatery in downtown Rock Hill, serving up delicious brick oven pizza and brews. I was very impressed with the décor and music selections. Though I could not enjoy any of the beers on tap, the IPA selection was inspired. If you are looking for a cool hang out spot or quality date night location, check this place out.

Bar only: Millstone is one of a few businesses that calls home in a gentrified building in downtown Rock Hill. It has an Asheville type of feel with its roll up garage door window systems and some hip décor. One of the first things you notice is the cord of wood stacked up front, and then your eye is drawn to the pizza oven. Turn your head to the right and you will find the bar with tons of taps, both local and out of state. Currently, they are having a tap take over from Ballast Point — an impressive brewery. I did feel that $ 7.50 for Grapefruit Sculpin IPA was ridiculous when I can get a six pack for $ 15, and most other places charge between $ 5 and $ 6 a pint. Being unfamiliar with the area, I’m not sure what alternatives to Millstone are around. I do know that it’s impossible to wash your hands in the men’s room. Only one faucet works and the one that does, doesn’t stay turned on. If you don’t mind the plumbing issues and are thirsty for a cold one, you might want to give them a try.

Today this place gets five stars: mostly because of Martha. She has been, even before I walked into this place, the epitome of hospitality and good service. I called from 30 minutes away to find out what their happy hour beers were today: She was quick to tell me and friendly too! When I arrived she«figured» that I was the guy that had called and was very welcoming. She doesn’t miss a beat this one. EVERYSERVERANYWHERESHOULDOBSERVEHERINACTION: she is a true professional. To the management now at Millstone, thank you for hiring such a wonderful service oriented individual.

I wanted to splurge on a pizza and I was so mad at myself for choosing this place to have a pizza. The garlic knots are fried and they were literally as hard as a rock. Perhaps the menu item name could be changed to garlic rocks? I could barely cut them with a knife. The pizza was worse. It was flat, flimsy, burnt, had no taste, had hardly any sauce or cheese. Honestly, it was the worst pizza I have ever had. You need to up your pizza game, Millstone! I truly did not know it was possible for pizza to be burnt yet totally flimsy at the same time. Yes, I realize this is a Taproom, but they only have a couple of wines to choose from — as in two wines. And I am all for staff getting to have a drink after work, but they should change their work clothes first — not sit at the bar in their Millstone shirts.

We caught them busy on a Friday evening, packed to the gills. No matter, they brought us a table in from outside! Our server was absolutely terrific, she let us taste a couple of beers before deciding. We ordered a Zoe Pizza and it was fantastic and we had leftovers for later. I’m looking forward to next visit already! Nice beer selection, neat atmosphere — very reminiscent of Old Town Alexandria. One thought. I ordered a Dragon’s Milk and it was served in a Pint glass. That might be a smidge much. How about a smaller glass and lower the price a bit?
