Zzest(pronounced Zest, not Z Zest) is a booth in the food court in the skywalk of downtown Rochester. It features a variety of sandwiches and salads, as well as baked goods. The pros: Zzest has a solid business model. All of the meats are premade that mornging so that they can quickly be compiled into meals. Each meat can be made in to a salad or sandwich. The sandwiches run around $ 6.00 and come with a pickle spear. They also come on fresh french bread. The right side of the kiosk also has a mini version of their flagship restaurant’s market. It features chips, breads, meats, dipping oils, and gourmet yummies of all sorts. Expect to play Trader Joe/Whole Food prices in this area. The cons: There is not a clear entrance and exit to the line. This can be confusing when the lunch crowd gets going around 11:30. Also, there are no identified prices for drinks and there is not a fountain machine for drinks. The kiosk does not sell sodas, but does sell juice, carbonated water, and ciders. Tips from a local: 11:30 — 1:00 is lunch time at the Mayo Clinic. Expect that if you arrive in the court any time during this section of the day, for it to be crowded in the food court and seating to be sparse. Try online ordering thru the Zest website to have your order ready when you get there. Also, take note that the food court is only open Monday thru Friday, so get your blueberry chicken salad during week days only! Try the: –Skordilla, a white bean hummus with some zip! It comes with fresh french bread –Blueberry chicken salad, chunky fresh chicken with a few blueberry in a fresh mayonnaise dressing

Very tasty and interesting combinations. They also have little treats and a shop of hard to find items to make your own specialties. They are fast and also have prepared food ready for the taking as well. However, very pricy.

My prime rib sandwich was almost to tough to eat. Every time I tried to take a bite all the meat came out of bread… and I have some pretty sharp chompers!

One of my favorite downtown lunch spots. They’re conveniently located in the 1st Ave food court, and feature both a lunch counter and a little market. I have yet to find something that I don’t like. I especially love the baguette bread that some of the sandwiches come on! Their chicken salad is hands down the best chicken salad I’ve had. Its more fresh tasting, than creamy, and is probably my most frequented thing on their menu. It’s a little more spendy than some of the other food court offerings, but seriously, you get what you pay for in both quality and taste!

Sandwiches are great, but price is up. For ½ sandwich that sized literally as business card $ 6.

We stopped in on a whim and tried the fresh pulled MOZZARELLASANDWICH . pepperonata(red, yellow peppers. garlic. parsley. sherry vinegar) greens. baguette. It was very good. They offer soups, salads, sandwiches, cookies and other items. The soup looked amazing. They also have a little market selling ingredients next door. Nice selection of pastas, olive oils, vinegar, etc…
