Finally got a chance to visit… It’s in what looks like a home, I’m guessing during the warmer months you can sit out front. When you walk in the room is warm, shades of gray. When I came they were having a wine class. Old World & New World Wines. Usually they would be closed for that type of event but we got a side room for our book club. Like they say«Membership has its privileges.» Friends frequent the place so we got a small comfortable room to ourselves. The wine list is vast, but also not to much. Something for everyone. A fabulous selection of wines also you can due flights with wine & cheese, wine & chocolate and etc. Prices are actually good for what is available. Owners are fabulous and on point! Street parking or you can park across the street in the bank’s parking lot. I’ll be back and the classes look fabulous! Cheers!

Went here Friday night with a friend who had a Groupon. I’ve driven past Veritas a thousand times and I’m glad I finally made it in! Veritas is in a house, and each room is decorated differently which is fun. We were greeted promptly and grabbed a seat in the sun room. We ordered a wine and chocolate flight, as well as a cheese and bread plate. Both were delicious. I wish that they had explained the wines a bit better, but everything was still very good. The people working at Veritas were very nice and not pushy at all. They left my friend and I to drink and eat and catch up without making us feel rushed. The only thing I wasn’t a huge fan of is that I thought the portions for the bread and cheese were pretty small, but they were really nice and just gave us more when we asked. Overall I really liked it, and I’m excited to go back!

Came here over the weekend and has such a great time! The inside was so cute and cozy with mismatched chairs making it feel like home. Sampled a few wines and also tried some cheeses. The waiter was super friendly and so helpful when choosing wines and cheese.

Stopped by on a relatively quiet Friday evening with some friends(we heard the earlier happy hour was hopping). We had a Groupon we needed to use — last time we were here we also had some special deal. The staff was friendly and patient with our piece-meal ordering. The selection of beers and wines were very good but the highlight once again was the Encore chocolate. This time it was the dark chocolate pistachio bark — excellent! Since we first had it here we found their store in Irondequoit… which is worth the drive. Their chocolate with the beer/wine is a great pairing.

They have a HUGE selection of wines. I honesty didn’t know where to start. Luckily, I had a wine connoisseur friend with me that didn’t lead me astray. The bartenders are also attentive and helpful, so if you’re not as lucky to have a vino-educated friend with you, they’ll find you a wine you’ll love. The food I enjoyed a bit less. I split a cheese and charcuterie board. We ended up with soft, Brie-like cheese and a cheddar + some soppressata. The cheddar and soppressata seemed curiously similar to Wegmans brand, which left me a bit suspicious. It was all still yummy and was complemented with honey, whole seed mustard, and fresh bread. Make sure you check them out on a Friday from 5 – 6 because they have a happy hour. 2−4−1 glasses of wine is a steal in my book(especially with their generous pours). They also have a groupon floating around from time to time that is $ 13 for $ 20 worth of food.

Came here for an afternoon bridal shower and loved every minute of it. The atmosphere, the service, and the food were perfect! Plus, they kept the wine flowing for a very thirsty crowd of ladies. :) Prices were incredibly reasonable and the bill was shockingly lower than we expected for such a party. The owner was incredibly gracious and kept an eye on us the entire time to make sure we were happy with everything. BEST place in Rochester for a small party!

I feel like this place could be easily missed unless you hear about it from a friend because it is located further down on Alexander St. The macaroons are amazing– best macaroons I have ever had. They also have nice wine pairings with various cheeses. Good for a quiet girls night if that is such a thing lol. When you walk in you kind of feel like you’re at a private party because every one looks at you and it seems like you are at someone’s home, but once you get over that and find a place to sit it is relaxing.

Unfortunately we did not have a great experience, mostly due to the food. Yes I know its. Wine bar and that should be the highlight but the food issue detracted from the wine. Pte and sopresata were«frozen» from the weekend… we went on a Wednesday… so needless to say not fresh. That left us with chorizo– basically Wegmans pepperoni, a Roquefort(which was good), and a chevre(sub optimal). None of these cheese was local, shame. And the bread was def not from Baker street, and was stale. For the location and lack of parking plus this experience, I would not go back.

My family hosted a bridal shower for my cousin at Veritas over the weekend and it was absolutely fabulous! The owners were very helpful beforehand, and were responsive and flexible to our requests for the party. We arranged for veggie, cheese/meat trays, and a curry dip that was all delicious, and ready when we arrived. They had lots of great wine options, and everything was reasonably priced. The space itself was cute and comfortable — perfect for a small event. They let us arrive early and set things up and were helpful in providing bowls and dishes that we forgot. They even cleaned up all of the appetizer plates and wine glasses, so we didn’t have to do anything when the event was over. Everyone agreed that the shower was perfect, so we would definitely recommend it for that type of event, and also just for a night out!

Their menu is completely overwhelming in a good way. They have huge lists of wines and some beers, ciders, and sodas as well. The wine was very delicious. Additionally, we ordered the cheese and charcuterie plate, and the bartender was able to provide excellent suggestions about how to pair the food with our drinks.

I met a friend here after work one night and almost instantly fell in love. How was I not aware such a cute wine bar existed? I arrived before my friend, and almost immediately was greeted by the bartender(I believe she is the owner?). She was warm and engaging with the two other patrons at the bar, even though she was busily arranging bread, cheese and cured meats for a wine tasting event they were holding later that evening. She handed me the wine list, and it was huge. I’m a big wine enthusiast but by no means an expert or a snob, and I was overwhelmed. She helped guide me, and I ended up choosing one of their daily specials, a California Malbec. Fabulous, but I love a dry red. The pour was generous, and my friend had the same thing. They have a small bar, and a few separate seating areas. The front room has an adorable sofa and the large windows look out onto Alexander. We ended up moving over to the room off to the side that had a sofa and some chairs once the tasting began. The owner was so attentive as she would stop in to see how we were doing, and to make small talk with us. They do lots of fun events, including a fast food/wine pairing coming up. How outrageously amazing! The prices are reasonable, and I can’t wait to go back! It had a low key yet fun vibe, and we spent a few hours just chatting it up. Great place!

Went there last night with a group of 5 women. On a Friday I was shocked to say we had the whole back room to ourselves(was a dinner time hour), which was decorated in fun peacock décor. Our wine waiter, George, was very attentive and so helpful in picking from their massive wine list. Our charcuterie and cheese plates were so yummy and hit the spot after a long week. Since it was Friday, we topped it off with this pistachio chocolate bark which was sooooo good. Great place to go to catch up with an old friend or to pre game before you head out on east and Alexander.

I attended a private party here in April. The focus was a paired wine and chocolate tasting. I was rather surprised at the wines good flavor, despite some being types I usually do not like. They provided nice information about both the wine and the chocolate. Some were unusual, and I’m not likely to purchase those for my own table, but all were excellent quality and quite drinkable. The owners were attentive and very pleasant to meet. I will go there again to explore more of their menu.

I am absolutely enthusiastic about Veritas. Every time I go, I am excited about the selection and even more excited about the amazing service and great deals. Their Happy Hour is unbeatable. Who can go wrong with buy one get one? That’s insanity. I always feel just a little guilty about just getting a free glass of wine so I splurge and get some treats, too. We have gotten the cheese plate, the curry yogurt dip and chips, the chocolates and the macarons. I was really happy with all of them, and the service is always 5 star. The owner is passionate, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and he remembers us when we come in. I am bringing all of my work friends there tomorrow to enjoy all of this deliciousness and spread the Veritas love, because when something is this good, everyone should know about it.

The owners are friendly and knowledgeable. Enjoy a glass of the Envy Bee Bee red — full-bodied with a hint of caramel. The flavor coats your mouth with each sip. It is absolutely delicious and worth it. Definitely try the macarons. They have switched to Flower City Bakery and even though I was told FCB is new to macaron-making, they are still good. I had the salted caramel macaron and vanilla with chocolate ganache. Yum.

Yeah! Five stars! Mrs. Pinky and I came in here on a gloomy, rainy Saturday night to have a glass of wine and check out a new place. Imagine our pleasant surprise to find this cozy little gem, complete with cheese, charcuterie, chocolate, good wine, and gracious owners. We sat on the couch while the rain fell, drank a wine flight, ate caramel and orange filled chocolates, bread with a cranberry roulade, some interesting cheeses, and had a great, low key time. I was told that there are some cool wine education courses here, and the happy hour seems great too. I’ll definitely be returning sooner than later and I’d recommend this place to anybody looking to do something nice with a hint of classy.

Sooooo happy with this place! I am not a wine snob at all, I actually don’t know anything about wine and I hate going to a wine bar and feeling intimidated with all the different wines. I never know what to drink and I am always too afraid to ask. I tend to just say«I’ll have the same» after a friend of mine orders. At Veritas, I did not feel intimidated at all! I walked in with a group of girls after dinner and there weren’t many people, but we tend to get loud when we talk, so we found the room off to the side and snuck in there and close the door so we didn’t bother other guests. The owner, I believe it was the owner, came in and gave us menus and was sooooo incredibly helpful with selecting a wine. The specials they had were awesome! The décor was great! The pricing was really great! I was super happy we chose to stop there then some of the other choices around Monroe and Alexander. If you like wine, or even if you want to know a little more about wine, this is definitely a place to go!

I went to Veritas on Friday for Happy Hour and was pleasantly surprised to hear about the buy one, get one free drink deal. You can’t pass that up, especially with the amazing wine selection. I should also mention that the deal applies to beer. I ordered the Casa Julia Sauvignon Blanc and the charcuterie plate. I had my pick of the cheeses, presented to me to choose from rather than picking from a list. I got the drunken goat cheese and I forgot the name of the 2nd cheese, but it’s a fan favorite plus chorizo and prosciutto. It was served with bread and a little bowl of rum soaked pecans. Nothing bad to say about this place! It’s a great space — bright and open — which was a nice contrast to the typical dark, mood lighting in the majority of places around town. We sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender/owner. We learned that they have events every so often and I’m looking forward to popping in for the next one. In terms of parking, there’s a lot behind the building — it’s small, but I had no trouble getting a spot.

I’m giving it four stars but leaning towards 5– I will come back again and hopefully bump it up. A friend suggested we meet here for a drink and I will definitely come back. The space is nicely updated, there is a bar area with a few tables by the entrance, a sofa and additional bar seating by the windows in the front room. They seem to have rotating drink specials which is always a plus in my book! They serve both wine and beer, some select sodas, and some appetizers. Another perk of this place is the location– it is far away enough from East Ave that you can actually find street parking and they even have some spaces behind the building. Veritas hosts some special events like tastings and guest speakers that I would like to check out. It was empty when we went, I hope they got some more business later that evening. This is one of those places you hope sticks around.
