Mie Salon and Spa

I’m only posting this review because I had tried to contact the manager more than once and got no call back.
I went to this salon a while back to receive a wax, I asked on the phone if the person doing it was experienced they informed me she was.“highly” if I remember correctly.
About a quarter way through it was become increasingly painful. Like something in my 5 years of waxing I had never experienced before. I looked down and saw I was bleeding. That is when the esthetician informed me that she tells most of her regulars to not come in with «cute underwear because they will bleed»
I have NEVER bled in a Brazilian wax before. Let alone that bad.
I also realized upon looking down she was not even a quarter of the way done and was reapplying wax to areas she already covered because the hair didn’t come off.
Then when she tried to get the wax off.
No success.
I told her to stop at that point, the pain was unbearable and I was a goopy mess.
I left this salon with half of my crotch completely covered in wax and the other half bleeding.
Crying I called another salon and asked to come in. The esthetician there looked at me and told me I had micro tears all over my pubic region and she would not touch it for fear of it already being infected and to go to my gyno right away.
Next morning I did my doctor told me I indeed have tears in my skin and they were becoming infected. (Could’ve been because the esthetician who preformed my botched wax was coughing throughout and informed me she was getting over a cold?) He put me on antibiotics. I’m fine now.
But I just feel that the way salon MIE handled the situation following the incident was completely unprofessional and no other woman should go thorough that.
Hence the comprehensive review.

I am picky and used to drive one hour to a salon because I could not find one I loved in Rochester UNTIL I received a recommendation from a friend about Mie Salon and Spa. My friend recommended both Carrie and Ashlee. I tried them both on two separate visits for cut and color and they are EXCELLENT artists. I am not used to finding 2 people I like at the SAME salon. They were professional, patient, attentive, friendly and highly skilled. Would proudly recommend them to all my friends. Also, Sarah cut my son’s hair and he said it was his favorite haircut ever. This place is a gem AND the free parking structure is right behind it which is an added bonus.

I’m not sure if this place is open? I called to make an appointment for a nail special that they have advertised on Unilocal but they never answered or called back.
Would have loved to try it out?!

Had a wonderful experience at Mei, while calling upon them last minute to help prepare for a beach-​bound trip. Georgia, I believe that’s her name, was welcoming, professional, and great at minimizing the discomfort of a Brazilian. Too much hair? There’s no need to Nair… give Mie a call!

This is more of a hair review where as most on here are for waxing and such. I came in and asked for caramel ombré highlights and had the stylist Abby. I like the homey feel of the salon and the friendliness in there. You can tell its a good mix of well to do and soccer mom clientele. I took my 6 month old son with me for both appointments for my hair with Abby. The first visit, my full and thick, shiny long dark hair turned into a fried, orange tiger striped hot mess. I sucked it up and put it into a ponytail for a couple of days until I could get a redo. They were very friendly and no hassle about me wanting it redone. There was no bad vibe at all and I really liked that and felt comfortable. They were very accommodating about me having neck problems at the shampoo bowl and even put my shirt in the dryer and gave me a spare shirt to wear while we finished up because I got wet from not being able to bend back well into the shampoo bowl. That was nice. Everyone was so kind and friendly to my little baby in his stroller. I usually worry about it not being appropriate to bring him with me, but they didn’t make me feel bad at all! Definitely a go to salon for me for that reason alone because I don’t do babysitters. Abby was able to transform my hot mess from the first visit into something really nice and she even gave me a complimentary hair trim and repair treatment. I would have preferred it being a bit more caramel and like the picture (since I could do it myself in a couple hours and get it perfect even freehand but I’m too lazy), and only having to go once, but it worked out good so I’m happy. I liked the vibe here.

Everyone here is wonderful. Harve’s massages will relax you head to toe. Carrie is a wonderful hairdresser who will help you work toward exactly what you want to achieve, even if it takes a few haircuts.

Summer was awesome! When I couldn’t make her normal hours, she stayed two hours late to see me. She also made me feel super comfortable and relaxed. I’ll definitely be a repeat customer.
Also, she loves Unilocal,so an automatic +1 star.

Summer gives a great Brazilian ! Much less pain then usual and works super fast! Will defiantly be going back to and I highly recommend giving her a try! I’m so happy I found someone in the area who does an amazing job

The new aesthetician Summer is AWESOME. Very impressed by her facial. Loved how small and quaint it is in here. Great staff!

This was my first visit to Ashlee S. I was very skeptical seeing someone new, however, she put me at ease within minutes of sitting in her chair. She is very through with her consultation, asking how I wear my hair, color, style and offered her suggestions. I have long hair, so it is important how I have it cut! She did a phenominal job! I love the haircut! I went back the following day for color and she rocked it again! HIGHLY recommend Ashlee S., you won’t be disappointed!!!

Amazing! I had a 90 Minute Facial — and it was incredible. Very relaxing — and my skin looks and feels amazing after the facial. The Salon is extremely clean and calming setting. The Facial also included a foot, shoulder and arm massage — which was a wonderful surprise.

Follow up to my first visit… Went today for my second facial with Jennifer getting a special deal via their facebook page. Again it was awesome! Feel very at home and it was like getting a facial from a long time friend, yes this is how comfortable she made me! I would highly recommend anyone trying her. Also may I point out when most places the facialist leaves the room at some point in time, Jennifer does not, she give you a heavenly foot massage, hello, what is better than a foot massage??? I’ve made my next appt for the fake eyelashes before a trip in June and for the full leg and bikini wax, so I will be giving another review on those services was I get them :)
You can’t go wrong!!!

Carrie is truly an artist and can be trusted to just do what she feels will look best. She needs zero direction and has not only an eye for what looks an amazing but the talent to make it happen.
Usually I’m on the fence about scheduling follow up appointments at the time of service but I was anxious to book my next visit. I finally have a cut and color that I’m invested in keeping up.
Everyone in the salon was amazing! It had such a peaceful, friendly energy and I really appreciated how welcoming everyone was. The regulars were friendly and kept the energy in the room. It felt like being in the salon was like being part of the family, but not intrusively.
Cannot wait to go back!
