Chi Wah Organica

Chi Wah has been cutting my hair for almost 25 years. But for now lets not talk about Chi Wah, lets talk about the salon.
First of all Chi Wah Organica has a very special warm way. The pleasant aromatic incense, the soft lights the warm charm of the people, it all works for me. As I hear the soft Sirius music I receive many choices of teas to choose from. Ok, I have been here as I said 25 years now but still it is hypnotic.
Quickly Chi Wah gives me a warm hug and brings me in. In some ways I am like a 6 year old, I still hate to get my hair cut. Sometimes I still feel like I am Huckleberry Finn. Chi Wah makes it so much easier.
When I am done, I never, ever, ask what people think of my haircut. None the less many many people will first ask me who cut my hair… CHI WAH, and then they always tell me Wow that is a great cut.
So in essence I am just the messenger, telling you what others tell me, that I received a great Cut!

This is my favorite salon in Rochester. After trying several different salons when I moved here, I had the good fortune to wander into Chi Wah Organica. That was four years ago and I’ve never looked back. I’ve gone to them for everything from special occasions up-​dos (including my wedding) to regular color maintenance and cuts. Every appointment I’m made to feel like I am hanging out with old friends. My red color, which I’ve had trouble with at many salons throughout the years, always comes out perfect with Aveda products and Salena’s expertise.

So one day one of my co-​workers comes in with a seriously attractive new haircut. After saturating her with compliments, eventually I had to ask who the person was behind the scissors… and how I get some of that on my head.
Erica. Chi Wah. I made it happen. She has some later appointments (BONUS!) although I did have to schedule a few weeks in advance to snag an evening appointment.
I was greeted by the receptionist and asked if I wanted coffee or tea then sat and picked up a magazine (good selection). Erica greeted me (on time!) and then we discussed what to do with my hurr. I described my vision. She was on the same page. Then came the scalp and shoulder massage. Pretty delicious.
The rest of the hair cut was fairly typical… you can imagine it. Just make sure you imagine it with enjoying Erica’s personality (laid back, funny) and the ambiance of the salon.
End result: beautiful glory of a hair cut
No product pushing (though I do love me some Aveda), just awesomeness.
The cost of the cut and lovely experience? $ 45. Yeah, a tad spendy… but for me, it’s totally worth it. I don’t get my hair cut too much so I’m willing to go for it. Plus, Erica does free bang trims!
