This place has a wonderful atmosphere, relaxed and homey. The wine list is a nice selection with a good price point. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive while not being annoying. The bread melts in your mouth and they let me create my own pasta from bits of two of their menu selections and it was perfect!

Fabulous! The poppyseed bread is wonderful! The salmon salad was great! And any of the pizza options — ham, pepperoni, sausage … All are very very very good!!! More than well worth it — we did take out… I can only imagine the fine in options are just as wonderful.

This has been my favorite restaurant since college. I love this place and bought a home fewer than 2 miles away so I could be close. I have had the phone number to this location memorized since 1996. I have the cookbooks and have never ever been disappointed. I’ve taken friends here and eat here a lot.

This location is great. It’s good food located in a quieter shopping area. I’ve been in here many times with various people. It’s not very good for groups of people, but for smaller families(3 – 4) it would work perfectly. Also great«date» spot, if you’re looking to do a bit more than a major chain restaurant. This place is a little more in cost, but the food and quality of service is usually worth it. Their bread is amazing.

While visiting the area I decided to order takeout from this restaurant… Probably the 4−5th time doing so in the last year. Every time has been great, and this time the food was exactly the same. What was different, and I’m more than a little disappointed in, was the service. If you dine in at this restaurant they can’t bring you enough fresh bread. It’s this warm, fresh from the oven, buttered poppyseed loaf that’s just awesome. This time with my takeout I asked for some bread. The girl smiled and asked«1 or 2 loafs?» Just 1 is what I replied, and I was stunned to see that they charged me $ 2.12! I’m blown away that for $ 2.12 they slipped the charge in on me, without letting me know there was a charge for bread! What if I would have said«give me 3 they’re so damn good!»? I would have gladly paid for the bread HAD I KNOWNABOUTTHECHARGE! This was my last trip… I’m so disappointed! So much so that I called in a and spoke with Alexis(the on-duty manager) to tell her about my disappointment. Like a true corporate professional she explained that it’s a corporate policy to charge for bread with take-out service… What a bunch of bull! Here’s the rundown: Satisfied? No Return? No Advocate? No No No!

Very disappointing — what you pay for is NOT what you get here. It isn’t often that I feel strongly enough to review a place with 75+ reviews. Seems like it is changing really quickly(in general for the worse)… Came in on a Monday(slowest day for most restaurants) Pros Friendly waitress Cons Kitchen staff One of the worst managers I have ever had to deal with Prices(going up… up. up!) Portions(going down…) 1.Why should I pay $ 18.95 for pasta that is stuck together, not in one bunch but at least two? 2. Why was there a shrimp shell when they are trying to correct #1? 3. Why should I wait an additional 15 minutes to(possibly) get the correct dish… after two failed attempts? 4. Why does the Siesta Key Fettuccine and Lobster & Shrimp Fettuccine ala Crème have the same sauce? 5. Why is the Max and Erma’s out of business in this mall while this place isn’t? Very disappointing.

Used to be a regular here, but I’m done with Kruse and Muer’s at the village. The last 2 times I’ve dined in, the service has been terrible. The last 3 times I’ve gotten carry out they have either shorted an item or given us the wrong item. Fortunately, Kruse and Muer’s on Main has reopened and still has their act together.

My family and I have been going to the Kruse and Muer restaurants for nearly all the 15 years we’ve lived in Michigan. We’ve always loved their bread opener, their variety of mostly seafood and other specialties, and their super yummy pizza. One time we drove a huge distance from Tennessee, and kept postponing stopping for dinner, just so we could eat at the Troy K&M instead. But last night I think was our last trip. A few years ago they cut the size of the bread loaves. It was a sign of things to come. I get that food prices keep going up. But its silly to raise prices and lower portions at the same time. After an appetizer of lobster stuffed mushrooms, we ordered two kids chicken tortellini meals, the special marsala filets for my wife, and the special calamari siesta key meal for myself. The service was fine, flavors were good, but the meals simply too small… esp. given the high dollar price tags. Even the kids meals looked downsized and the chicken was all but AWOL. I left disappointed and hungry. As we walked out the door I made an effort to pass on my displeasure. I didn’t care about comps or anything like that. I asked the gal at the door if she was the manager and she said no but she could pass on a message if I needed to. I told her what I’ve said here ‘we’ve loved coming here for years but its just not a good value anymore — the meals keep getting smaller and the prices higher — and we probably won’t be coming back.’ She apologized but didn’t make any effort to keep us. Now I’ve spent some crazy money on meals before, but in this case I just can’t reconcile the amount spent versus the amount ingested. And this isn’t a one off experience, its a trend. I suppose we can still order the Family Feast pizza deal, but I don’t see us eating in again. And that’s a shame.

I visited K&M in November during a day trip to the area. I felt like seafood and wanted good quality at a reasonable price(something hard to find here in the Toronto area), I wanted to get away from the usual«previously frozen, breaded and fried». Go figure I found it in suburban Detroit! I ordered the flounder special(panko and parmesan crusted) which was delicious. Crust was crispy but not too thick, fish was cooked perfectly(not over nor underdone). Other reviewers rave about the warm bread and I definitely concur. Nice«free» start to the meal, and it didn’t need butter! Detroit is lucky to have Kruse and Muer restaurants, to get quality like that in Toronto you’d pay twice as much at places run by Oliver-Bonacini!

Always good food and always good service. If you have never been here before it is tight, but they do a great job of making it work. Love the bread that we start off with, Martha’s vineyard salad is always fresh and perfect(no pine nuts in mine). Charlies chowder hits the spot, especially today with the cold weather. The mac n cheese at $ 15.00 for what seems to be a small size for me is a bit pricy, but it is sooooo good. Son liked the linguine with tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms all tossed in olive oil, herbs and wine. I love their flavored ice teas, the peach and raspberry are incredible. Just an fyi they charge a .50 cent per refill for them, which the waiter was kind enough to inform us before we just kept refilling our drinks. Been going here for years and will be, there are plenty of reasons for it.

We really enjoyed this restaurant! It was very busy when we arrived, but were seated quickly. Our server was friendly and had great suggestions on the menu. We will definitely return and also try some of their other restaurants.

Went to Kruse and Muer because we were given gift cards for Christmas for their chain. We had been to their other location in Rochester and Lake Orion so we knew what their menu was. There was a bit of wait on getting a table — which was understandable for dinner time. What is cool is that they have pizza by the waiting area so you can satisfy your cravings while you wait. Lots of people were getting their famous bread to-go while we sat there. I got the macaroni and cheese this time and it seemed watery with not much taste. I haven’t found my signature dish for this place just yet.

Excellent food, good atmosphere, service is always great too! Always packed with people(in a good way) but the servers never seem overwhelmed or flustered. The complimentary bread is the bees knees too!

What can I say? This is my favorite restaurant! Whether it’s the fresh dough they use for their bread(loaves, sandwiches, and pizzas) or their fresh pasta they use in some of the best pasta dishes I’ve had, Kruse & Muer never disappoints! The servers here have worked at this location for a long time(some even since the restaurant opened), and will not let you leave unhappy. If you are in the area and trying to decide where to go for lunch/dinner do not hesitate to choose this restaurant. There may not be room for a full bar here, but they’ve got a nice selection of wines to pair with any meal. My personal favorites here are the lobster and shrimp fettuccine and the blackened salmon sandwich!

It was a beautiful day when I went to Kruse & Muer in the Village, so I decided to sit outside. When I arrived, there were a lot of other people dining outside and I got the last table. I was barely seated when the server brought the very good bread and«buttery spread». I really would’ve preferred real butter, but not a big deal. I had to make a concerted effort not to eat the whole loaf! I ordered the house salad with chargrilled chicken. It took a while to come out, but it was soooo good. A nice mix of greens, cucumbers, onion, tomato and fruit, lightly tossed with honey mustard dressing. While I was eating, everyone else who was dining outside left. And that’s where the service stopped. My server never came back. I waited for about 15 or 20 minutes and nothing. I finally went inside, told the person at the odd little reception table(which faces INTO the restaurant instead of facing the door) that I was ready to go & hadn’t gotten my bill, so she rang it up for me. And there was no place to sign the receipt, so I had to sign it & leave it on the table. So, my experience was that the food itself is very good, but my service was lacking. (Oh, and the bees seem to like it, too; at one point, there were FOUR swarming around me!)

Kruse & Muer In the Village is different than the other locations. It is a tiny restaurant that you best go to this location if you really like/comfortable with the person you are dining with. I say this because you get very close when dining based on the small tables and dining area. There is a nice eating area outside, granted you stare at the parking lot of the mall, so it isn’t that nice of a view. When you walk in on the left is the dining room door and on the right is the delivery/cashier for pick-up. It is awkward because there is no waiting area for the dining room. You have to wait in the foyer area where other people are waiting for their pick-up. The plus is that they usually have complimentary pizza while you wait for your name to be called. The dining room like I said earlier is small… I guess you could say«quaint». The single stall bathrooms are tucked in the back and if it is winter time… forget about hanging your coat up by the bathrooms. Due to the booths being so small there is no room to put your big coat, so there are coat hooks by the bathrooms but it is impossible to find a free hook. The food is excellent. Let me say you pay for what you get. The bread is amazing and complimentary. The pasta is made fresh and every time I have gone I try something new and never have complained. I usually take it home because I loaded up on bread, which isn’t a bad thing! Again the prices are high but the quality is high. The atmosphere is a nice home town feel, but very small. Probably my favorite place to eat at The Village.

Went out with the wife on a beautiful Saturday afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. As always, the service was excellent. The wife ordered the Shrimp Scampi sautéed with garlic butter, tomatoes & roasted almonds with a side of pasta and I ordered the Louisiana Chicken sandwich. My blackened chicken with herb tomatoes & boursin cheese on focaccia bread was very tasty! We did have a slight miss-hap that was entirely our fault. We chose to eat outside and the wind picked up and blew the delightfully warm bread off the table. Our waiter promptly raced inside, picked up another loaf and sprinted back out to our table with a fresh piping hot loaf. Nothing can top delicious food on a delicious day with my delicious wife! What can I say… I have no complaints. You can’t go wrong at Kruse & Muer!

I’ve also been the Kruse & Muer on Main and Deer Lake Inn, and this by far was the worst experience. I thought it would be a comparable level of service, but I was wrong. We arrive for early dinner on a weekend and were greeted by a very friendly waitress. If only she had been OUR waitress, because the guy we got was rude. He was nice at first, but upon hearing we were only ordering pop, he quickly grew sour. I understand it’s hard to earn a living as a waiter, and tips are important, but just because we aren’t drinking doesn’t mean we won’t tip well. In fact, your condescending attitude about it is why we didn’t tip you well. Everything else was pretty good. I got the seafood combo thing which was fairly priced for the taste. The manager came by and asked how we were and even took the check when the waiter disappeared. The waiter got my dish mixed up with another lady’s that was very similar, but instead of swapping the different sides, he swapped the whole plate. I hope he didn’t bring that straight to her, because I ate a bite of it first. He caught me with the fork in my mouth so I assumed he knew that. It would’ve been at least a 3 star experience but the distain rolling off the waiter vastly overshadowed everything else. Oh how I wish we had been served by the friendly girl who greeted us.

Arrived about one for a quick lunch. Seated quickly at a nice window seat Server delivered their signature warm garlicky bread, took our order and delivered our beverages. Arnold Paulmers. my fav. We both got the chicken veggie wrap accompanied by a nice fresh fruit cup dressed in a great poppy seed dressing. Gave only 4 stars because I ask… begged«no sweet peppers on my wrap» Came with peppers anyway. But server gave me another meal without them the take home. The wrap was very generous, tasty with a yummy side of a spicy spread. Server was pleasantly attentive.
