Beautiful location with vistas on clear days. Wine is good with many choices of French inspired wines all grown on premise. Would recommend a visit on a clear day to the tasting room and bring a picnic if the weather is warm ad there is great outdoor picnic areas.

DONOTHAVEANEVENTHERE. I had an absolutely miserable experience with this vineyard. I(tried) to book this venue for my best friend’s bridal shower and it was nothing but unprofessional from the start — from overpriced fees and poor communication, to the fact that they canceled our event reservation a few weeks before the event. Apparently the owner’s daughter had booked an event the same time and it was«not on the calendar», so ours was canceled. To make an extremely stressful situation worse, there was absolutely no remorse or real apology from anyone. It was really just an «oh sorry» and then no reply when the mother of the bride emailed to explain her disappointment and the stress this was causing everyone involved. I am just thankful that I had been too busy to send the invitations for this because I had meant to send them the weekend before we got this news. I can’t imagine having to call everyone who received invitations to tell them that there is now a change in venue. How embarrassing. I requested a check for $ 35 to cover the cost of invitations(the only reason these were so cheap is because I designed them myself and had them printed at a local printer) but then I had to redesign them, reprint them AND readdress(as they were postcards). After several emails(with no reply) about when I was going to get this check plus my $ 300 deposit refunded, I finally got a lame letter in the mail with a check and a two sentence«sorry again but it’s our daughters party» note from the owner. Just an incredibly unreasonable experience. Especially disappointing considering the fact that the attendees of this event are all 20-something ladies from the Roanoke Area getting married/about to get married who’d possibly consider this venue for a bridal shower, or even wedding. Unprofessional and extremely irritating.

DOESNOTALLOWDOGSATALL. Fourth time being here. Beautiful views of the Roanoke Valley with DISMAL customer service. Prepared to be ignored and belittled by the wine pourers, it does help if you’re a little aggressive in getting their attention. Yet, it’s always a pain to get their attention for a bottle or a tasting. And everytime I’ve had a tasting it was rushed and I was made to feel like an idiot who was not knowledgable in the world of wine. Lots of areas to sit and enjoy a picnic, but there is very little shade or umbrellas, so you’re left to be burnt to a crisp. Best to visit this place in the fall or spring, smaller crowds and cooler Temps.

The first thing that struck me was how aptly named this place is. It’s a Norse looking hall on top of a mountain overlooking the city of Roanoke and the nearby area. A hall in the sky indeed! I came with my family and we participated in the wine tasting, which was reasonably priced. The wines were great, and we bought a couple of bottles to drink and enjoy the view. They let us keep the engraved tasting glasses which was nice too. It looks like they hold events there too, there are advertisements and pictures of events that have been held there, and it definitely looks like a great place to host a social event. I will definitely be coming back!

Beautiful vineyard at the top of the mountain with great views. Very friendly hosts as well that offered us great suggestions on where to explore in the area. Would be a great place to take a group and a picnic lunch. $ 10 tastings which include a beautiful keepsake glass. Can’t wait to go back when everything is in bloom.

Offering stunning views of the Roanoke Valley, Valhalla offers some of my favorite Virginia wines. They also cater special events at their beautiful winery and patio. I’m especially fond of their Cornucopia, which is a blend of several red varietals depending upon the years’ harvest. An easy drive up the mountain from southwest Roanoke County, Valhalla is a must visit for any wine lover. Even if you’re not into wine, the view is worth the trip.

Great red wines, spectacular views, and friendly atmosphere… We stopped in for a tasting. The ride up the mountain was harrowing towards the end, with a narrowing road, and huge drop off and no guardrail. But at the top you are rewarded with 30+ mile views. They only had red wines available to taste when we were there, but that is ok since we prefer reds. we elected for the reserve tasting at $ 10 pp. Their tasting list included several aged reds, including from 2000, 2001, and 2002. Many were very nicely done. We especially loved the 2006 Cab Sav, the 2002 Syrah, and the Alicante Bouschet, a Portugese red. We ended our very enjoyable experience by purchasing 15 bottles for our future enjoyment. Although I thought after purchasing more than a case of wine, the tasting fees should have been waved, I still consider this worth the visit.
