Beeeeloooowww average food. VERY small selection. Some items were cold on buffet. Enjoyed a small portion of items but for the most part everything was average. Waitress was nice and quick with removing plates and refills. Won’t come here again unless I only have a couple dollars left in my pocket and bank account.

Very good buffet! The place was clean and food was fresh. They made more while we where there because it was 3:15 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. Will eat there again.

This is a very good Chinese buffet for the price. They have just about any type of chicken you can think of. They also have a very big dessert bar which had fresh fruit, cakes and little dessert squares. I would recommend to NOT get the dessert squares. They are horrible. The waitress always made sure that our drinks were filled. The only real problem I had was there dessert squares and that sometimes the workers were hard to understand. Overall it’s a very good place for the price.

Look, its not challenging cuisine. Its a standard American Chinese buffet place. Which I love, don’t get me wrong! What makes Red Palace stand out is the fact that the food is, relative to expectations for a chinese buffet place, pretty good. PARTICULARLY in comparison to their hometown competition. After moving here we tried 3 – 4 places before finding Red Palace and have settled nicely into a steady relationship. Its not going to blow your socks off, but it shouldn’t disappoint either. I really look forward to gorging myself on a lunch buffet here from time to time.

Compared to places in the northeast the price was cheap, but not as cheap as other Chinese buffets nearby. The options were typical of Chinese buffets, but the salad bar was severely lacking. There was pretty much only lettuce. However, service was attentive and friendly so that was a plus.

It’s a Chinese buffet. Not gourmet, not even a la carte, so expectations are low and I was mildly surprised. The selection is large, food is replenished frequently, and the restaurant overall is very clean. My favorites: Mandarin chicken wings, some red fried chicken on a stick(don’t remember the name), pot stickers, and fried wontons. The stir fries were a little bland and boring. The Kung Pao Chicken could have been spicier, but fortunately, there was plenty of chili sauce that I could add. I wish there were more seafood items. No clams, shrimp, mussels, or crab, just some generic fish stir fry. The restaurant is located in a strip mall next door to a Kroger’s, right off the highway. For $ 11, Red Palace is a great value, especially when you’re hungry.

I am quite the Chinese food buff having frequented many establishments in California, but have never really ventured into any Chinese buffets. This place was great! I thought the quality of food was pretty damn good(better than Sezchuan) especially because the price was so reasonable for all you can eat! I will be coming back for seconds and thirds soon! The service was nice(very friendly staff) and the place was clean, a very neglected aspect of most other buffets.

I’m still looking for a Chinese buffet to establish as a base of operations. This is the first one that I’ve tried in the area. It seems like a decent start. When I walked in around 8:40, I was informed that the buffet was closing down at 9. Why must everything in Roanoke close down early? I figured that I could squeeze in 4 dishes of food in 20 minutes. Not known for my speed, but I figured it was as good a time as any to start training. The food is your average Chinese buffet menu. The positives were the crab rangoon and the wings. The hot and sour soup was one of the better versions of buffet soup I’ve had in awhile in terms of flavor. Everything else was pretty average. One item to note was that I was given a plate of kimchi. Nice touch. Dinner ran about 13 bucks. Service was good. Even though I was there so close to buffet shut down, the manager offered to refill anything that I wanted from the buffet. This is one of those times where the service boosts the rating. I’ll have to try some of the other buffet options, but I have a feeling I’ll be returning here often.
