This is a nice place to get a post workout treat. Or just treat yourself regardless with the Afogato. Their coffee is really good I would suggest getting the medium roast«get buzzed» which is my favorite. The Sumatra is also good. The barista’s always are so nice and welcoming. The place itself is actually quite small so it makes it a little difficult to do work but the surrounding area has a lot of sofas and seats to sit and do work or have a conversation. Overall it’s a really nice place.

I had their summer daydream smoothie. I really like the ingredients they use in their smoothies compared to other smoothie shops I’ve visited before. It doesn’t taste artificial at all and is not too sweet. I prefer my smoothies a bit thicker and a bit sweeter which I’ve had in California. Their prices are a bit expensive in my opinion. I paid around $ 5 for a small smoothie. I would definitely recommend Little Green Hive if you are out strolling in Downtown Roanoke and you’re looking for a place to rest. They have lots of comfortable seating which is nice. I think it would also be a good coffee shop to study at.

Great place. Everyone is super friendly. Love their scones and how much seating they have at 16 West. You could get your morning coffee at Green Hive, get some yummy lunch at Fuji and then have some beers at the Wayback without even going outside.

The complex this is in has great ambience, and they serve my favorite local brand of coffee, Red Rooster. Their exclusive Little Green Hive house blend is lovely. Will go out of my way to come back here.

I saw this place online and decided to check it out. It was not what I expected but for the better! It was set up(it’s a kiosk) inside a cool little market where artisans have things they are selling, so once you get your drink and goodies you can walk around and snoop/buy. I got the Paleo smoothie and my husband got the PB Cup smoothie… made with healthy ingredients such as real fruit, almond butter, almond milk(no fake, sugar smoothie purée’s, etc). They were both good and it was refreshing to know that businesses are taking a little extra time to make fresh smoothies for people. Afterwards we got a latte and a pour over and they were both good. I would stop back here again for sure.

I’m here for work and decided to check this place out. I’m glad I did. 3 of my favorite things… coffee, smoothies, and a friendly and attractive lady. Too bad I’m only here for the day. I’d definitely come back again.

Local coffee from Red Rooster Coffee Roaster = YAY! Signature blend from Red Rooster Coffee Roaster for purchase = YAY! Fruit Smoothies = YAY! Add-in options like chia seeds = YAY! Using lots of frozen fruit instead of fresh fruit = NAY! I suppose ignorance is bliss, because seeing all of the frozen fruit displayed right in front of me was a bit of a turn-off. It made me question the quality of what was going into my smoothie, given what I was paying for. After all, a fresh fruit smoothie sounds more appealing than frozen fruit smoothie. The 20-ounce smoothie itself, The Green Hive, was heavy on the spinach(as requested) and peaches, giving it a vibrant green color. I also could taste the coconut milk, something I’m not used to seeing in a smoothie but still enjoyed. Overall my healthy, green smoothie did its job of giving me the vitamins and nutrients I was desperately needing, keeping me full for hours.(I was especially grateful for that given that I had a «vacation belly» going on.) Still, I can’t overlook the deep containers of frozen fruit in between the register and the blender. If only I had simply kept my eyes on the baked goods!

Great little place inside a complex downtown with fair trade coffee. The espresso was good, the service was excellent, and the seating comfortable and welcoming. A definite return.

Awesome, healthy options. Locally roasted coffee beans. Staff is somewhat knowledgeable, but definitely creative and friendly! Offer milk alternatives including almond milk! Coffee quality is definitely high! Need to come back and try a smoothie!

My husband stopped in here to grab us some coffee as we drove through town. My Honey Bee Latte is spot on — not bitter, not to sweet, just right. The husband got The 420 roast and he is enjoying it. He enjoyed talking with the barista as he waited. Great stop for us and will go again if we get the chance.

The coffee was decent. However when I go for coffee I want a great atmosphere and great food items as well. I was so disappointed to walk in and see something that looked like a shopping mall counter. The pastry box had only a few stale looking items. So I got a smoothie with my coffee and this made me feel sick to my stomach. What a disappointing breakfast!

I’m going to put it out there that I am a coffee snob. The coffee was decent. I liked that they used a local roaster(Red Rooster beans). The problem was that the barista was multitasking and each of our pour overs were about a 7 – 10 minute pour. It was really neat that they had pour overs and an aero press available but I’m not sure they knew how to use them correctly. Service was friendly and they seemed to have good healthy food options and local baked goods. We wouldn’t return but I can see it not being a problem for anyone who is just looking for a drip coffee or friendly conversation.

This is the only place I know of in SWVA that you can get a coconut milk cappuccino. They are intentional about offering options and alternatives that are delicious, healthy and whole. I would also guess thy are the only place in SWVA with smoothies that contain 100% whole fruit with coconut milk as the base, no powders or syrups. They offer a whole list of supplements, like whey protein, vegetable protein, chia, flax, ect. If you need a pre or post workout snack or are in a hurry and need a meal replacement these are the way to go.

Little Green Hive is a much needed addition to the downtown area coffee scene. Their coffee is local(Floyd, VA) which is a plus. Their drinks are tasty, I’ve had their lattes, drip coffee, iced coffee and their smoothies, all very tasty. my one complaint and the reason why I docked a star is that when they don’t have ready-made iced coffee, they’ll «chill» some using hot coffee; this results in a lukewarm, watery coffee after ice is added, yuck! Even so, they are leagues better than any other coffee downtown – I’ve started ordering hot coffee to avoid the inconsistent iced coffee. Their muffins, bagels & parfaits are delicious, fresh and also local and certainly half the stars in my rating. I will continue to be a patron.

Excellent little coffee shop. Lots of interesting and healthy options, including the signature Green Hive smoothie, which contains spinach and tropical fruit(it’s actually quite good). Little Green Hive is a great place to have a quick beverage or just to chill.
